So who else spent this long weekend sewing? 😅 I was outside the lockdown area in WA, but there was an influx of people into the Southwest so I decided it was best for me to stay home 🤷😂 I've wanted to make this cotton into a dress for a while, but it was a relatively small cut so I had trouble finding a pattern that worked for it. I just managed to squeeze Vogue pattern #V9346 out of it! The narrow skirt is slightly out of my comfort zone to wear, but I love all the details in this dress. It might take me some practice, but I think this might become one of my favourite winter dresses this year. Day 4 -"Structured" #fallforcostume . . I've been feeling a bit under the weather today, but I was able to finally pick up the cotton batting I needed for a winter coat design.(I'm always working on multiple projects) Funny enough that fit today's theme perfectly because a good winter coat definitely has some structure to it and this one will be stylish, #1940s inspired and incredibly warm. I'm using the back of #voguepattern #v9346 , but drafting an entirely different front to resemble the back a bit more and have a full front closure. Ambitious-yes however, I just know it will be quite lovely once its done! I made another dress! This time Vogue's #v9346 vintage archive pattern. This one was a lot of fun to make, and, as tedious as it was, I loved sewing the details in the back of the dress. I ended up heming it up to my knees instead of keeping it long like the pattern dictated mostly because it's hot here the majority of the year, and I can always throw leggings underneath it if I need to. The fabric is fleece, which I hadn't worked with before but was super easy to sew. Not at all like working with silk-textured fabric for the first time. Very little profanity involved. 10/10, would work with again. . Anyway, as far as accessories go, I kept it simple with a pair of earrings from the Oldsmar flea market, and shoes I bought for prom a decade ago that have actually now officially fallen apart since taking this photo. My heels are slowly dwindling since I haven't bought a new pair since I started teaching and most are over ten years old from high school.
