Some of my winter makes, getting a good go in the recent icy Melbourne...summer...weather: a #gabletop cowlneck hack and trousers from #v1741. Fabrics are brushed polyester knit and scuba, respectively, both from @lushfabricsaustralia. I modified the trousers for knit fabric by omitting the zipper and adding an elastic waistband and used scraps of the scuba to make a knot headband. #vogue1741 #sewingknits #sewersofinstagram

Ok. Re-organizing after my failed Vogue V1806 Christmas party outfit. I really did not want to buy another pattern so I am going to make this Vogue #v1741 jumpsuit in red suede-backed satin. I will pair it with the brocade blazer I made for a Christmas part last year. I think the red jumpsuit will go nicely with the red flowers. The pattern notes it is good for all 4 body types so let's hope so. I will start the muslin next week. The only problem is that I cannot go bra-less so I am thinking of what I can do to mitigate the problem. Probaly the easiest would be to make a high back? I hope my other big client does not invite me to their Christmas party because I do not have time to whip up a second outfit😁

The crazy equestrienne-meets-peacock-wrangler outfit that was 2022 #doomben10000 day. The theme was bold, and boldly I did go. My favourite blouse pattern, #soipussybowblouse, my new favourite wide-leg trousers pattern, #v1741, and a vintage waistcoat pattern, all in fabric from @wearethefabricstore. The millinery was an attempt at me dipping my toes into perchers (thank you @hatacademy!). I made the top 10 (to my genuine surprise!) and couldn't be happier. My Christmas party me made. Vogue V1741. It was a challenge because the instructions did not mention the notch collar at all and I am not an expert sewist... yet. Loving the slouchy comfort of the #toastersweater. I made version 1 of the pattern; #toastersweater1 has a standing collar but as my fabric is quite thin and drapey, it sits better folded over. Next time I will double layer the neckline fabric, or possibly make the neckband deeper to get more of an intentional looking fold. I also can't get over the awesomeness of these trousers. Finished my jacket #vogue9351. It was an easy sew for me. I was able to get 95% of my plaid lines to match perfectly. That last 5% I won't worry about. This is the jacket that I forced myself to sew to get out of a sewjo slump. I'm happy with the outcome, and it is the perfect complement to #v9021 that I made last autumn. Jacket Fabric: @minervadotcom Jacket Lining @minervadotcom I'd recommend #v9351 (aka #v1741) to a new sewist, but tell you to try a solid color or non-directional print first before tackling plaids. Another angle on my #v1741 trousers in scuba from @lushfabricsaustralia. I omitted the zipper and added an elastic waistband to modify the pattern for stretch fabric. Something a little bit different from my usual style. This black and gold striped silk twill jacket is created with Vogue wardrobe pattern #v9351 It is relatively ‘easy’ for a jacket. Really excited about how my new sewing project is going—I’m using the #v1672 wrap dress as a base, but altering the neckline using the jacket pattern of #v9351/#v1741. Swipe to the second photo if you’re curious how I did that—I overlapped the two bodice front pattern pieces at the shoulder seam, pinned them together and then cut the fabric with that new neckline. Overall I’m really pleased with how it’s turning out although I wish the lapel notches were a bit crisper in the corners where fabric is pooling. (I trimmed the seam allowance veryyyy close, but it’s still pooling a bit. Any advice for how I can get a crisper corner next time?). This is for a dress inspired by one @lydiamillen designed.
