#vogue1900 definitely one of my favorite pants patterns. I’ve done it twice. This one is my corduroy version, fabric that I got at Joann on Black Friday. I know every pattern has its own measurements and I always go by finished garment measurements but this one turned out really big 😵‍💫 this second time I made size 10, but definitely could have done it 8 size. It is heating up down under big time. What can one do but have as little fabric as possible clinging onto the body? This is a 2 in one post as I really got to kick myself to take pictures for IG these days. Top: #mmflorencetop , my 4th version and still in love with the shape. Fabric is a very beautiful and floaty italian linen and silk gauze called Fox from @drapersfabrics . What an unusal composition, have never seen this before but hoping to find something similar again. It's very lightweight and to save any headaches while sewing with it, I used @gemeine_wildrebe gelatin bath trick, you can find it in Rebekka's highlights. I just eyeballed the gelatin quantity to be honest. It made the fabric nice and stiff and easily manageable. Alright, as promised here is the full account of my first big attempt at #TDCO fitting! I learned everything I know from Instagram and @thecrookedhem’s YouTube series - I still haven’t actually read @ithacamaven ‘s Threads Magazine article 😅 So, grains of salt. And if you want to see the process in more detail, it’s saved in the Lyra/HDM highlight. The takeaway is that while I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around this method, it resulted in pants that I’m really proud of! And I feel empowered rather than discouraged, which is a huge win. 9/10 would recommend. I did run into some hiccups - after I made my toile, transferred it to paper, and cut it out of good fabric, the result was enormous. I don’t know if I did something wrong in the toile or the transfer stage, but something definitely got wonky there 🤷🏻‍♀️ I will say that it was great to have the waistband fitted and calibrated ahead of time - it meant that I knew the exact measurement I was aiming for, so I could work at all hours without worrying about whether I’d just eaten or anything else skewing my perception of the fit! I added a two inch belt with D rings and fake cuffs at the ankle, but when I make it again in orange this weekend I’ll grade the legs down to the size 12 width below the low hip and add about three inches to the leg. Looks like I'm the first one to post about this Vogue pattern, I am mildly suprised! This has never happened before because I'm a chicken and like to read reviews and see versions made up before I commit to a pattern. It's a fairly recent pattern by @carlosvoguepatterns , that I was waiting to get my hands on since Carlos first posted about it a few months ago. I found mine at my local spotlight store still sitting in the cardboard box it was delivered in (that I sneakily opened when no one was looking). At the checkout the barcode apparently wasn't in the system, I just played dumb. Pattern: #V1900 Size and mods: Made size 8 which is one size down from my waist and hip measurements. There is 8cm of ease through the waist and 14cm through the hips. Didn't want the waist to be baggy so decided to size down (btw I'm only wearing the belt for "decoration" in this picture..) The only modification made was lengthening the legs by 3cm. Fabric: some sort of heavy weight textured cotton and viscose blend from spotlight. I liked making these pants and am pretty happy with how they turned out. I like how the pants come with a waist facing rather than a waistband and the 2 back darts give nice shaping in that area. Vogue rates this as an "easy" pattern, however I find Vogue expects a lot from their customers ;). #carlosvoguepatterns #vogue1900 #voguepatterns #stillsewingstories

Me trying to find enough light to photograph yet another navy blue make 🍃I need to pick more photogenic projects… I’m coveting Reformation’s front pleated linen pants, so I picked up Vogue 1900 to see what I could make. These are my wearable toile/first attempt, so the fabric is linen I got at IKEA as-is section last year for $1/yard. They’re not bad considering! Next attempt I just may spring for some actually nice linen 🤔 The pattern was pretty easy to work with, I made a few modifications after my first toile. I didn’t like the pocket style so I drafted a full pocket bag, and took some curve out of the leg for a straighter silhouette.
