The fabric that piqued my interest in Atelier Brunette. Semi-wrap-dress #v1908 by #voguepatterns in the short version. I lengthened the hem, shortened the bodice a bit and added side seam pockets. I also attatched the facings and hems by hand for a cleaner finish. The fabric is the lovely Fizzy Rust viscose twill from #atelierbrunette with matching Dotty buttons. I love this dress. Finished in May 2023

And a final image, this one of the back of the dress. I just can’t get over how this fabric moves. I haven’t been in the sewing room much as of late, but I am hoping that my motivation will return soon. This dress is the last thing that I made, and it’s hard to compete with silk brocade! Here is a better look at the dress I wore to the last Marin Symphony concert, which I finally managed to post on the blog. I haven’t made a contemporary Vogue pattern in some time, but this design kept popping up in the stack of patterns when I was looking for a next project to tackle, so I went for it. The style lines definitely give me 1970s does 19040s vibes, which I like. And perhaps that is cheating as regards the definition of “contemporary,” but however I got here, I really do love the dress. I'm very proud of this Vogue 1908 dress that I made to wear to my dad's funeral, which was yesterday. I used a black polyester crepe from @rainbowfabrickilburn which was rather warm but otherwise a beautiful fabric. The pattern was kindly given to me by @moxeymakes I will definitely make it again in a less sombre fabric. #vogue1908 #v1908

I wanted to make long sleeves, but a lack of yardage killed that plan. I didn’t like the short sleeve draft that came with the design, so I altered it. And that meant making a mock-up since I was only going to get one chance to cut into the remaining fabric. #sewing #handmade #vogue1908 #v1908
