I’m a bit obsessed with wearing beautiful cottons in summer and so I sourced this incredible cotton voile and dyed it using indigo in the shibori folds that I use for @karmmehq bag linings. I gave up trying to match all the stripes as they were vertical, horizontal, uneven and it’s all cut on the bias. ながーい丈をバイアス床裁断、 分かってはいたけどものすごい丈上げ。 なんと初の25cm位上げた (あと2.3cm長くても良かったかな…もしくはぺたんこ靴とだな) と久々のワンピースは#voguepatterns #v1803 。 もう春ですね。 にしても モデルさん何cmヒール履いてるんだろう。 デフォルト丈だと介添人必要。 落ち感が強い生地だからか、重みか？置くと綺麗に縫えたつもりが着ると縫い目が下に引っ張られるっ。 も少しハリのある生地なら、バイアスパターンの良さも活きてふんわり感出たかも。 とはいえマスタード色、気に入った♡ 夫にはウコン色に見えるらしいけど。 #memade

Vogue 1803 #v1803 sewn in a linen-look viscose remnant from @abakhan_birkenhead I think it's a large-scale floral but it really reminds me of bananas 🍌😄 The pattern design is loose-fitting - I sized down and sewed a 14 straight out of the envelope. I did not need the usual FBA or to grade out at the waist. It is also long - I'm 5ft 8 and removed 1 inch before hemming and I still need heels with this one (although I guess the drape of your bias-cut fabric will also affect overall length). Would definitely sew again in both this length and the short version 😀

I love long dresses for winter and I love wearing sneakers with them! This dress is all cut on the bias for a really beautiful fall. I like the stripes too as the are on the diagonal. I cut a bit off bottom as I ran out of material but the extra length would have been great. Added a tie to neck but no mods besides that. Easy make, would like to make up in a soft denim next. I am to move 500km westwards, from Berlin to Münster, from party central Friedrichshain to suburbia Mecklenbeck, by end of month (actually: probably end of next week 🤓) Lore, my sewing tutor since 2019, is semi-retiring, closing her shop, moving 500m eastwards around the corner to a smaller venue (back-room at a hairdresser's) by end of 2023, sewing only on demand of her old-time regular customers. She gave me this blue soft thin wool "for a song" as she wanted to reduce her stash. I thought I try a new pattern for my mother, #V1803 Pic 1+2: draped on Lore's Mannequin, with collar still pinned to check fit and drape Pic 3: Lore looking away to prepare her smile with open eyes, then smiling. She approved the make Pic 4: The pattern cover #V1803 - thanks again to Nathalie @schnittmusternet who sent me the correct size pattern Pic5: Made size M (UK 12-14 according to the instructions), so it's too big for me. Sleeves will be too long and possibly too roomy for my mother. Will be adjusted after she tried it on Pic 6: Different options for piping, mother chose the rosé (applied at the raglan sleeve seem and the top of the collar) I really like how the sleeve is constructed! Also, cutting the fabric on the bias gives a nice drape! Pic 7: Only noticed the small holes when I tried to sew the front together... no #kissntussing aka putting a cute button on possible here at midriff... Pic 8: Lore advised diagonal darts, I like it! Pic 9-11: As a goodbye farewell gift I made a little bag for knic-knacs for Lore. Finally found the perfect fabric for my Vogue 1803 pattern. The pattern is supposed to be cut on the bias but as I used a lovely stretch viscose fabric I didn’t need to do that. It’s very flowy and kaftan like and will suit cool spring evenings when they arrive. Actually the last of the summer dresses! This roll of linen/cotton was reduced to £4/m in @abakhanfabrics and the pattern kinda reminded me of ice-dyeing without all the work 😂 I knew I wanted to make another #voguepatterns #v1803 - I'm surprised there's so few versions on the hashtag because I love this pattern. Its all bias-cut/single layer which is time-consuming but the sewing is straightforward. And it has pockets! I made a size 14 with no changes so be aware this dress is long! (I'm 5ft8). Still have to add buttons to the cuffs - I basted them closed so I could wear it on the last warm day. I might make a shorter version in viscose to layer with tights and boots as the weather gets cooler.
