I’m working towards a copy of my favorite tee, so I used a mashup of the @elbe_textiles #staleytop with the Mimi G Style #s8177 tee. The body and sleeves are the Staley, with the neckline and neckband from the Mimi G pattern. After having no negative ease at the waist with my recent Dawson top, I wanted to make sure that the Staley had lots, so I graded the view B from size G at the bust to H for the waist. Then, since the C/D cup wasn’t quite enough for me, I did a 1 1/2” FBA and left that width at the waist as well. All that went a bit too overboard; see pic 2 for just how much extra there is. I also lengthened this 2” and It’s still a little shorter than I’d like, but I am nearly 5’10”. I was very happy that, other than when I forgot that the machine resets the stitch length when it’s restarted, I had zero tunneling issues. The neckline was perfect the first time (pic 3), though it’s hard to see on black. I put together some patterns that could recreate Michelle Obama's inauguration 2021 look. Her outfit, only second to Bernie Sanders and his mittens, seems to have stolen the show. I love all of the different cool shades of gems everyone wore. It definitely felt like a "fashion show at lunch" affair. On the patterns: Mimi G just so happens to have a turtleneck similar, it would just need to be a heavier weight. Mimi G also has a very similar palazzo pants pattern that would work perfectly for this. For the coat, Simplicity has a very similar jacket you could use. You just would alter the top to not make that intention and to smooth out the curve. Thanks to @therealmichellesewsagain for hosting the most epic collabathon for her second annual #sewpurpletoendalz22 challenge! For our collaboration we made fall layering pieces (makers choice). I chose to make this longline vest out of stash fabric that I thrifted two years ago! This heavy weight lilac linen was a wonderful choice for @mimigstyle #S8177 vest! Perfect for a light layer over sweaters this fall and a fun pop of color! Simplicity 8178. Elastic waist, crossover front, jumpsuit with narrowish or wide legs/dress and open jacket. Probably unlined but it's not hard to line things when you want. Bought for the jumpsuit in 2020 on a 3 for $10 Spotlight deal in some COVID lockdown online shopping disaster avoidance. But looking at it now, I might sneak in the frock for late summer and actually, the jacket could be good if I ever go back to the office again. A simple little t-shirt made from #simplicitypatterns #s8177 #simplicity8177. The velvet is leftover from a coatigan I made earlier in the year. These photos made me notice how different my photos are lately compared to 12 or even 6 months ago. I would match my lipstick and jewellery (sometimes) to the garment, change my bra to suit the shape, etc etc. These days my photos reflect my current state both physically and mentally. I've added about 4 inches to all my body measurements in the last few months. I still enjoy jewellery, but makeup is a thing of the past. I've had some very anxiety-fuelled days and have really hated my changing body. So I've been working each day on accepting who and what I am, now, instead of beating myself up for not being who I was and what I used to do. This doesn't mean I love my body with its extra inches right now. Getting my 90s vibe on - Matrix style. I do love an androgynous look for Winter as I feel strong hair and makeup work well with darker colours and dramatic outfits. The faux leather gilet is my most recent make, which will be a great layering piece for our mild Brisbane Winters (although it is gonna be chilly next week! 🥶) The fabric from @lushfabricsaustralia has a little vertical stretch and a fleece backing and was super easy to work with. I used @simplicitymccallsaustralia Mimi G 8177 pattern, and also watched the sew along on YouTube. Paired with my favourite #fibremoodclemence - which you can read about in a previous post, and my @matchymatchysewingclub #archerworkpants - which I made a little while ago but hadn’t photographed. Grey check pants had been on my make list for ages, and I found this textured fabric from @tessutifabrics. I love the fabric, but it was a little thicker than I had expected and I am not sure if I will eventually change the elastic waist to a zip as I feel it would create a better line in this fabric.
