I know I shooouuuld finish at least one of these before I start a new pattern.. but Imma do what I do. 1. #M7740 is going slowly because I'm still practicing button holes 2. #V9302 only needs slip stitching in the waistband. Buuuut in an effort to keep from making a garment too tight, I've made this too loose in the hips and waist. And I need to raise the crotch. Putting it off bc it's mostly french seams 😣 3. #M7741 was a quick make but when I dozed for my desired fit I forgot to move the busy apex. Gotta rework the darts then do finishes! 4. #V8815 is a fun #patternhacking project for me. I just need to be in the problem solving mood. I've added a lining, changed the back and played with the arm holes. Idk when I'll be in the mood to finish this. I'm not a peplum person so I'm not even trying to wear this soon. Sometimes I sew in the same color family to avoid the 30-second effort of switching thread. #sewingconfessions This dress, cut out last year and promptly abandoned for lack of interest, caught my eye as i attempted to use my navy thread. I found the indigo fabric in a #bazin #tiedye style in my mother’s scraps, and love the slight resemblance to #japanesefabric #shibori. I tried a different style to go with it, a #handkerchiefhem, and it’s fantastic- gives a luxe #bohemian feel with little effort. Finally making progress after the second muslin fitting. My shoulders and back are about 3-4 sizes smaller than what I need for my bust measurement, so it always takes some time to get the fit just right. Distracting myself from the grey Melbourne weather with some summer dress sample sewing ☀️🍦🍭 . This #ceciliebahnsen inspired (soon to be) dress with a high neckline and full sleeves was mostly self drafted, with a few alterations from Vogue Patterns #v8815 I've used this pattern a few times before and love the bodice shape - if you've discovered a tried and tested formula, stick with it! . I used the slash and spread method on the sleeves (slide 2) and secured elastic within the bias tape hem to get the ruched look. . I'll be adding 2 heavily gathered skirt tiers to balance out the fitted bodice and stay true to the floaty summer style. . Taking a few quick assessments before pressing the pattern for this peplum top and preparing the muslin. I already know that I’ll probably have to lengthen the bodice by 2” to account for my height (6’1”) and bring the waist in a bit. HELLO AND WELCOME to my hacked/self-drafted stripey set. If the fabric looks familiar it's because if you spend half as much time at Ikea as I do then you've surely seen this doona cover - SLÅNHÖSTMAL. I had seen some similar fabric around the place for exorbitant prices and figured I could get more bang for my buck with the Ikea option. The matching set is inspired by the current trends although I'm not really one to go much for trends myself. Each of these pieces will work separately with other colourful things from my wardrobe, so hopefully they get a lot of wear! I'll have a YouTube video up soon about the whole process, but for now here are some rough pattern details: Top is hacked Vogue V8815 - removed peplum, extended darts and length and left bottom of side seams open Pants use a mishmash of McCall's M7937 and Vogue V9320 for the wide leg. Some adjustments made to line up stripes in nice ways. I refashion thrift a lot. When I go thrifting I usually have a list of colors and types of fabrics I’m looking for. I always check for care labels on all garments to know exactly what the textile is made out of. This refashion, I found 6- 50” long curtain panels @goodwillsocal Care label: 100% silk, lining 100% cotton, that’s a lot of silk! I also found this girls size skirt gold lame and cotton striped. I made 2 tops and a pair of pants so far. There’s enough left over for another top and a reversible wrap belt. I also used my beading stash, beaded fringe stash😉 Something about beaded fringe makes me feel like a badass 🤘🏻 The first top, I hacked my #lenahornedress pattern & added a narrow peplum hacking #v8815 For my pants I hacked my favorite 70’s vintage @simplicity_creative_group #7214. Project 4/100 Needed a break from housework, school work, homework. Hence I did abit of my #v8815 top in 1.5 hour using my #cloud9fabrics Remnants from my flora dress... Cut a size 10 straight from different scraps of fabric. Did my swayback adjustment of 1.5cm. Left with the sleeves, neckline, back seams and hemming... Probably needs to take in from the shoulder too. First time trying this pattern in my stash.
