#memademay2023 day 8 I’m back to work today after wisdom teeth extraction so the hair is working overtime on hiding my still swollen face. These were the first pair of overalls I made with #s8855 and I still love them. The jogger style of the cuff makes for a more casual pant, with plenty of stretch in the knit fabric. I didn't think I'd be cracking out these new bad boys till the autumn hit but some how this summer has me needing to water the plants but also reaching for long sleeves. (I tried pairing them with short sleeves but it just looked weird on me) These are Simplicity 8855 in a red leopard jersey fabric I've had in my stash for a little while. Its a standard weight jersey, although could definitely be done in a loopback... But most importantly to report they are insanely comfy. Paired with my floral long sleeve top I just adore this bonkers outfit. I made view B from the pattern, it has an elasticated back waistband which helps to cinch in (my preference on me) and gives the cool crossover straps at the back. I adjusted the rise of the pattern by raising it an inch to account for my longer torso and higher than standard waistline. For this pattern that has been marginally too much, I think half an inch would have been enough on this pattern (still learning how I need to adjust patterns for my body and each brand being slightly different makes it more complex).

A recent project for my daughter. Simplicity pattern #s8855 is drafted for knits (this is woven fabric) and doesn’t have a skirt option so I had to do a few adjustments and a mashup of patterns. I used the front skirt piece of s9842 but didn’t use the zipper opening. Fabric was from my stash (which is code for I can’t remember where I bought it!) There hasn’t been a huge amount of sewing going on recently chez moi… not lost my sewjo as such, but just been busy with other stuff and trying to learn a bit more on the knitting and crochet side! Today I wanted to try to muster some love for some lesser worn items of mine - the #s8855 stretch dungarees and my supremely impractical stripy knitted jumper. The dungarees are fine but I just don’t seem to go for them that much… think it’s because they aren’t the right shape to put a jumper under, so layering for winter is a bit trickier. The stripy jumper I made too short, so asked my mum to lengthen it, which she duly did but I am still not enamoured with it for some reason, which is a shame after spending so much time on it! I put some shirring elastic around the bottom to cinch it in a bit as mum’s alterations made it a bit loose. What do you think? Wanted to show a couple of ways of wearing these stretch dungarees! The first pic is a big departure for me as I hardly ever wear red... the shirt was #secondhandfashion from @vinteduk (the second pic shows it before I took the sleeves off and re-set them in higher up on my shoulders!) and the third pic is what I am wearing today with a lovely cosy jumper. I would have shown you the rear view, as it has cross over straps and an elasticated waist at the back, but the jumper was making my bum look lumpy and I am too vain for that!! Overalls have never been a favorite but SOMEBODY talked me into @simplicity_creative_group #s8855 knit overalls (view D with front pocket from A without center stitch). Not flattering for my body type but man are they comfy! I have found my Thanksgiving wear. Perfect for lounging and working around the house yet presentable if you need to run somewhere. I had to make a lot of modifications to the pattern pieces to fit my petite yet curvy frame. Used a standard sewing machine rather than my serger on this pair. I may do the next pair on my serger.
