On my sewing list for Spring was a jumpsuit, so when @spotlightstores had a massive sale on patterns recently I found one that fit the bill. ✅ Elastic waist ✅Quick and easy construction ✅Bra coverage I made a few mods along the way including deepening the pockets, adding a tie up waist, adding length to the crotch and sewing up the cross over detail at the back. I found that it was gapey if left unstitched and looking at the hashtag for this particular pattern, it seems to be a common problem. A productive weekend! I started both of these jumpsuits at the @izzosewstudio social sewing day yesterday, and finished them today (in between enjoying the glorious sunshine 😎☀️). The pattern is @simplicitymccallsuk #S9125. It's actually a woven pattern, but both of these are made in jersey. The only adjustment I did in relation to this was to shorten the armhole binding to 85% (thanks @helensewsmemadeclothes for the tip!). The first one is made from fabric from @fabworksmillshop which I bought from their shop last weekend. The second one is made from Fabric from Annie's in Sheffield. I finished this dress last October, but it wasn't warm enough to wear then so it's had to wait for an outing! Headed into Guildford to sit and admire the beautiful flower display at the castle. Dress- New look S9125, size M, view B. Made a couple of mods - turned the lapped back into a v. Took off 1 inch off the waist length. Pockets are very shallow though! Fabric- viscose from a lovely stall (which I can't remember the name of 🤦) at #threadfestival2024 @farnhammaltings . Ok…gonna give myself a little mercy and make an “easy-to-sew” @simplicity_creative_group #s9125 piece after a few epic fails. Making View B top and View D bottom skirt, but hacking it into an above-the-knee length. This way, if things go awry, I’ll be using the least amount of fabric. Using this super cute baby blue and pink flamingos cotton lawn (or voile). It was a dollar a yard at @saveathon . This way, if things go awry, I would have only spent $3 on it 😜 I’m feeling pretty good about this piece and it’s gonna fill up a relaxing Saturday. Welcome to Overconfidence Project #1 (OCP1). I was high on the emotion of hacking my skirt when I thought to myself 'you should make a jumpsuit'. Despite having a very long torso, being much taller than the 5'7" the patterns are designed for, and basically only ever finding two in my life that didn't split me in two when I lifted my arms. The hilarious part is, I didn't notice the nap until I got to this level of completeness. Did you notice the faces are actually upside-down?? I ran out of thread which is why it's still very unfinished. I think I will finish it up... it's not that obvious, is it? 🤣 there is also a waist tie to sew up. Sun's out! 🎉. Still on summer makes so delighted I can start wearing them now 😂. Ran this pretty little number up in a day. Fabric is a viscose from a @nhpatterns destash that I've had for about a year. Pattern is #S9125 from @simplicitymccallsuk . Such a great pattern that has options for a jumpsuit version, playsuit and also wider straps. I love versatile patterns that I can use over and over, yet each version is different. Another great feature of this pattern is no fastenings. Winner winner 🏆. I made this up in a straight XL no mods based on my measurements but think I need to grade down to an L on the bodice next time. Oh yes.....there will be a next time. Here’s a close up shot of my latest make. It’s a really summery one, ready for the holidays. I love the neckline on this sewing pattern. I think it’s a really pretty feature, especially with the ties too. The fabric is a viscose from Rainbow Fabrics from last year. I think the large scale tropical print is perfect for summer. I had this sewing pattern in mind when I initially got the fabric but I didn’t get round to sewing it up last summer. I thought I might change my mind on what to make out of the fabric when I got it out again this year but I just couldn’t get that particular pattern out of my head! No worries, endometriosis is still a very worthwhile cause. I used the bodice from #s9125 and some of the details of the @Ellie&Mac #offshoulderromper because I didn't like the s9125 pattern pants.

I’m joining in with SewOver50 today with jumpsuits. I made this New look 6373 a few years ago for #sewtogetherforsummer , from a stable viscose in a bargain bin. I’ve made Simplicity 9125 but can’t locate a picture😆I made it as a try out from 1.5 m of cotton lawn and meant to go on and make the view with a wrap back. I’m also about to make my little granddaughter a playsuit ( swipe to see)She calls them ‘jumpy suits’ and either wears them or shorts all year round. I quickly made up this @sinclairpatterns Bianca Bolero last week as I wanted to wear my Simplicity #s9125 dress for a wedding and was worried that I would be cold! I bought the pattern last month and set to work in a matching fabric as the dress. Luckily I had just enough for the long sleeved version after making my daughter a dress out of it a couple of weeks ago as well! I made the US10 Medium which matched my bust size which seemed the most important part for this. It came together very quickly on the serger but unfortunately the fabric was too floppy so the collar didn't sit straight. I ended up cutting some wedges into the collar seams and managed to make it sit right.. just about! Other than that I didn't make any changes. I kept the sleeves very long so I could keep my hands warm too if needed! This is a super useful cardigan and I can definitely see a few more of these being made up! #memademay2025 day 21 in an old make. This one was made the 1st time I met (photo included) @running_sew_n_sew and @payneloriann . It was such an awesome day 😀. I combined 2 of my favorite patterns at the time, the skirt of @simplicitymccallsuk #S9125 and @ellieandmac_patterns #southshoreromper bodice to make this dress. It fits a little differently today.

Whoa it’s been forever since I posted anything. Here’s a catch up of all the things I’ve made: 1: NewLook #N6751, too heavy for summer but came out pretty good 2: Sotak’s Kaland #weekendertote. I’ve made this pattern before but the pattern matching on this was *chef’s kiss 3: Self drafted pattern to match the style of a bag my hairdresser requested, came out fabulous 4: Simplicity #S9125, loved the pattern but made with rayon so it keeps shrinking and shrinking 😫. Lesson learned. 5: McCall’s #M6017 made for my daughter, loves her unicorns 6: Self drafted, copied the shape of our old pool bag (green on left) with a yard bought at a reuse shop. Had just enough left over to make the outside pocket. 7: My much used tote pattern for a friend, a hit as always! 8: Hacked together bodice of Simplicity #S9125 and skirt of Simplicity #L9708, love the yellow! Had some fit issues in the bodice but was mostly due to stiffness of quilting cotton. Lots more projects in the works….

This is the @simplicitymccallsuk #s9125 Again!!! I love this pattern, I cannot lie! I think this is my 5th one! However this is the first in a woven! Inspired by the woven version that @devon.threadtales had posted! The fabric is a heavy viscose from @rainbowfabrickilburn I made a Size M with no alterations. It is quite a generous fit as it has elastic round the middle so you can size down in the pattern. I may change out the necktie for a stretch material as I find the woven feels a bit restricting! Perfect dress for a hot day in a fabric which doesn't need much pressing! I made some of this at my first North London and Herts Sewing Social! 🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day I made Simplicity #s9125 view C in a red and white floral polyester crepe fabric. The only modification I made was to put the skirt slits on the sides instead of the center seam. I love this halter dress style for summer and in a future version I will cut the skirt pieces on the fold because I prefer the side slits. I also needed to trim 4” off the hem! This pattern has a romper version that I’m very interested in making! Fun fact: I was stopped at the grocery store by a sweet lady who said she loved this dress. When I shyly told her that I made it, she said I should sell these dresses. What a sweet thing to say and give a beginner sewist a confidence boost!
