This is this year's Easter dress. Unfortunately, this pattern wasn't the most easiest for wise. After making the dress I found out I had to take an inch in from the shoulders. After doing that I addressed the elephant in the room being the fact this dress hangs off the body like a sack. I had to take it in by at least 2 inches and try to adjust it so it looked like I had a waist. With all these fixes that had to be made I ran out of pleasure sewing this and hemmed it too short for my taste. I don't know if I like this dress enough to keep it in my wardrobe. Happy new year to all of you! So happy I finished this dress just before New Years Eve so I could wear it. This Dress is totally inspired by the great Alexander McQueen and his wonderful AW 06 „Widows of Culloden“ Collection. I wanted to recreate this dress so I used the Butterick 6134 (for the top ) and the Simplicity 2917 for the skirt part. I used a wonderful 100% scottish wool (bought at @fabricsatplay ) the dress is fully lined and I fixed gathered soft tulle at the skirt part of the lining. The lace i fixed by hand which was a big challenge to me. I finished my Harry Potter blouse just in time for Halloween. This is pattern #s2917 from @simplicity_creative_group. It is one of the few Simplicity sewing patterns that actually fits me. I have a blog post coming soon about the lack of plus size seeing patterns. Anyway. The pattern was easy and I didn't have to make any adjustments. Pattern Hack Alert: #simplicitypatterns #S2917 into a waistcoat/vest. I chose this pattern to hack because it has a center front seam and I liked the shape of the neckline. The princess are great shaping device for a more fitted look.
