Think this is my most glamorous make of the year. Initially worn to a family wedding and then had a second outing at the Night on the Toon in Newcastle. Weather permitting it will make an appearance at Goodwood Revival this weekend 🤞🏻🤞🏻. This is the McCalls M8492 70s Vintage pattern. First came across this watching @sewessentialuk YouTube channel and knew I wanted to make it. The full length dress is so long. In order to use this pattern with the amount of this beautiful Tessuti Linen fabric I bought from @stitch_fabric1 I had to take the seam allowance allowed for the hem off (thought I could use bias binding for the hem). Ended up being able to use a generous 1.5” hem as the dress was on the floor - and I often have to add length to garments! Must had been worn with platform shoes in the 70s!! She’s done!! #m8492 in liberty lawn from @riversidefabrics #memademay2025 #maystandsconfest the sweeeeetest. Mods: lengthened by 3 inches, kept more length in the sleeve and cuffed shorter because of it, interfaced the front collar, back neck facing, and base corners of the front bodice.

The fabric used here is a Swiss dot cotton from #moodfabrics It was a surprisingly easy make. Being authentic vintage reproduced pattern, the instructions were a bit different from modern patterns. I think it took me just a couple of days to put this together.
