The first check off my #makefive2025 project list (put together by @rochelle.handmade.designs) is...hard to believe, a 1970s reproduction pattern from McCalls #M8493. I say that because and I guess it's a good thing, but it doesn't look too 70s to me. Not that I wanted a costume but I don't know, something didn't click, even if I styled myself with more flair. I cut size L and fabric used is a bargain bundle tissue knit from Walmart. I believe had I cut a size or two smaller in the top (view D) and in a printed knit then I would mirror the illustrations more closely. This will definitely be worn as a lounge set inside the house 😅 The pockets are frankly just there for looks, especially in a tissue knit. I'm very interested in sewing the top in View A as it seems to pull off the Me Decade silhouette more obviously. My body type is also not the beauty standard of that decade so that also factors into not pulling off the look. The shorts have a front band and elastic back. This is only the second vintage reproduction pattern I've sewn. The directions were lackluster, but I expect that from a pattern written up 50 years ago.
