So this is @mccallpatterncompany #m7405 and labeled “Easy-to-Sew”…😩😩😩 I tried so hard but it fought me tooth and nail! I typically avoid slippery fabric like this but I have to practice with it more. I had so many obstacles come up while making this teeny dress that don’t really happen with non-slip fabric. I just could not get the stitch in the back to cooperate. This was the very first dress pattern I tried when I first started sewing on 2021. I can't believe this simple make had me scratching my head. Fabric is a viscose challis diamond dreams from @poundfabrics, it's lovely weight which made it great to sew up with french seams. Being 5ft I need to make a height adjustment above the bust but for this version I just sewed a little further up the bottom of the arm to avoid the gape. 🇬🇷Holiday Me-Mades No.2 : Sunday is a beach day and this short version of #M7405 is an ideal beach day dress / cover up. Such a simple sew, honestly a doddle and I used piping cord for the neck tie to create a nautical/ classical look. I also added pockets because -of course. . Finished! I love halter tops! Regular shoulder straps are always falling off my shoulders, so halter tops and dresses have become my go-to style. I have been pattern hacking #M7405 for a while and this is my latest hack. A simple halter crop top. The bottom hem has 1/4" elastic to create a slighy blouson. This is number 4 in my #makenine collection. I started by choosing nine similar designs to jump back into sewing and start making my own clothes. Neckline courtesy of #m7405 as a top, cut with center seams in the bias. . Early morning PD (who doesn’t loves tech training at 7:30AM?!) and I see now my sweater is tucked in lumpy. Great. Today’s #wearitonwednesday from @heysewgeorgie was “occasional” wear. The top under my sweater is a great heavy yet drapey satin made from scraps to match a bias skirt from the same fabric. It’s #m7405 cut in the bias with center seams front and back, and I little too much for work. I wished been able to cut the tie on the bias as well b/c it doesn’t hang as nicely as I’d like. [#Ad] okay, bear with me because I know it’s suddenly winter in the UK, but my last make of the summer finally got a spin last week when I got three days of sunshine on my trip to Sydney. . I made up @simplicitymccallsuk #M7405 in this beautiful @minervadotcom exclusive viscose challis. The second I saw this retro print I knew it was going to be a maxi dress. I originally toyed with hacking the Wilder Gown into a sleeveless maxi but then I found this McCalls pattern and it was exactly what I wanted! . I ended up cutting a separate bodice and skirt rather than as one piece (due to my own failure to look at the layplan), but it worked out nicely - I just added an elastic channel at the waist seam. I did have a few sizing issues, this is a multi size pattern (XS - M and L-XXL) and based on my previous experience of the Big 4, I thought I would need the L, but it was too big so needed some tweaks to bring it in. I added a bust dart and took it in a bit at the sides which seems to have done the trick - it’s supposed to be a loose fit anyway. . This fabric is so lovely to sew with and to wear- it’s swishy and floaty and ever so light. You can read all about my latest make on the Minvera website (link in my bio) . Now it’s sadly back to reality and winter, my next makes will definitely be more influenced by the cold! But I’ll daydream of the sunshine for now. . I modified McCalls 7405 to create a dress I have been wanting to make for a while. I actually didn’t have enough fabric to make this dress the length I wanted but I plan to make another. Because I am modifying the pattern significantly I am really happy with how this turned out, I am fine with the length. For the next one, I want the neck ruffle to be taller as well as the ruffles at the seam lines and of course longer. So stay tuned. I need to recalculate the skirt tier lengths and make another. The fabric is amazing Regent Street lawn Moda. It is so very soft and perfect for clothing. I wish I could find more! #m7405

Well I must be on holiday if I'm posting on my grid! My mum and I are away for a week of sun, halloumi and Keo. It's a hard life but someone has to do it. It's generally been too dark for photos when we head out for dinner so I haven't really been taking outfit photos but we went out a bit earlier last night. Just another little ditty with itsy bitsy flowers🌼🌼🌼🌼 This pattern is by @mccallpatterncompany and it’s the #m7405 aka #alanamccalls This is definitely going to be a #tntpattern for me. This fabric is from @fabricmart and it’s a rayon material that is so absolutely soft and flowy. I actually had this cut to be two rectangle pieces for the skirt of a different project. Halfway through that one, I knew it was gonna be a fail. So I took those rectangle pieces and just made this dress. #winwin !! So comfy I almost went to bed in it. I have one more that I made out of a satiny fabric hanging on the dress form behind me in the pic. Looking forward to wearing that too. #MeMadeMay2025 day 17! Still loving the version of #M7405. I made this in 2018 (or earlier!), it's starting to fade, but I'll be wearing it until it falls apart. My favorite twist on this was using a necklace instead of the drawstring for the neck. You can take the links of the necklace apart, but I also put a hook and eye on the back. Also wearing some #MeMade earrings.
