I'm so excited to share this new top! I love shirts with peplums, and when I saw this pattern I immediately wanted to give it a try.⠀ ⠀ The pattern is New Look 6511, view D. I read some reviews that commented on the neck being too high, so I decided to lower it by 1/2". I then decided to add a bias band and neck ties, so I probably negated that effect! It's not too high now, at any rate.⠀ ⠀ I cut a size 10, which is supposed to be for a bust size 4 inches smaller than mine. It's still got plenty of ease.⠀ ⠀ I'll definitely be making this again, using the button closure instead! ⠀ The fabric is a lovely rayon crepe than I bought from La finch fabrics as a remnant. I felt like a new blouse so decided after work yesterday to make one 😝 This was a pretty quick sew from start to finish. I think it was under 2 hours. The main bodice is my fav #n6511. I lengthened the bodice by about 15cm then used the puff sleeves from an old McCalls pattern that I found for 50c at the op shop. I lengthened those too so they’d be three quarter sleeve. Handmade outfit! The shorts are Simplicity 8389 #s8389 and the top is New Look 6511 #n6511. Both fabrics are a mystery to me as I bought them a looong time ago and I'm happy to finally use them! The bird fabric might be a viscose crepe but it has some stretch, which was a challenge to work with. I previously tried making a Burda top that did not work out, so I eeked this simple cap sleeve top out of the remaining fabric. I cut a size 12 in the top and lengthened the hem a few inches. The shorts fabric is a moderately thick and drapey rayon of some sort and it has a suede-like texture. I cut the shorts in a size 10 and they fit well in the waist, but I definitely have to shimmy into them!
