#Memademay2025 in my first #m8281 - made out of thrifted cotton shirting. The insides aren’t cute but I still love wearing this dress. I wore it with a rtw silk shirt over top and this styling works for multiple seasons and occasions.

This is the second time I’ve made #m8281 and it remains a favorite for hot days. This one is made out of a cotton chambray from fabric dot com (we’ll always have the memories) and the pockets are scraps from another easy, pull-over cotton dress i made. Happy #MeMadeMay to all who celebrate!

My first summer make! @mccallpatterncompany #m8281 in this gorgeous glittery striped fabric. I’m not sure what it’s made of. It feels like a very lightweight suiting. The fabric was purchased last summer at a market in Rome. I thought I’d use it to make a blazer or some sort of light jacket, but suddenly got the idea to turn it into a dress and cut it out before I had a chance to second guess myself. Hoping to get started on a little summer holiday sewing this weekend. I have basically been planning this dress in my head since last summer, when I found this dreamy-soft graphic printed cotton lawn @heathcoat_fabrics_retail_shop. I wanted something loose and flowy without too many additional seamlines or details, which might break up the print and I also wanted to try a new-to-me pattern, so I'm planning on making the sleeveless version of #m8281. I haven't found many versions on instagram, but the ones I have recommended raising the armscye and cutting the front on the fold. Finally, I got around to making my first Spring dress, and it's absolutely one of the most comfortable dresses I've sewed and wore in a while. I had to make a few adjustments by taking in the bodice bust ( which threw my middle seam stripes off a bit ) and in the skirt hip area. Overall, I love the outcome and plan to make another in a solid color. Water is literally the number one thing anyone needs to live, and now we can keep up to 10,000 gallons when Mother Nature decides to send it down from the sky. I made a new dress for hot summer days, and I love it! The colors remind me of Neapolitan ice cream. Pattern: McCall’s 8281, size small. Fabric: Linen. Wow, it's been a minute since I had a new make! It's been a long and strange summer, but I'm trying to find my way back to sewing. This is McCalls 8281 in a straight size xs. I measure into a medium, but I think both the small and xs would fit. The medium would be too large. The fabric is a cotton seersucker from Joann. This was a very quick make. I like the topstitching detail on the facing. I cut the longest length but then trimmed a bunch - it was ankle length on my 5'7" self! One thing to know - at least on the xs pieces the front armhole facing is too wide. Easy enough to trim down, but something to note as a printing error! I think it’s only the second time wearing this #m8281 dress which I have styled as a pinafore. I thought it was a bit frumpy when I first made it. I think it would be great in a cotton lawn or linen for summer and with no top underneath. Happy last day of Me Made May! I'm wearing McCalls 8281 in a cotton seersucker. I paired it with a white cardigan for work, but I forgot it for my photos. This is the dress I was most on the fence about all month - I wasn't happy with it after I finished it last August. But you know what? I'm loving it today! I sized down from the recommended medium to the XS. I do think it's a little more fitted than it should be, but it works. I also added topstitching to the facings in the front. Finally sewed up my cherry blossom fabric by #kokka that I found on Etsy from #shiboridragon I made #m8281 again but with the original waist line position this time. I raised the arm holes an inch, raised the front neckline, lowered the back neckline and added side ties at the waist line to give a little more definition there. I omitted all facings and replaced them with matching bias tape. I would recommend sizing down one size from the one recommended by the pattern and it still will have plenty of wearing ease. This is the most comfortable dress!
