Today is my Mom’s 66th birthday and I made this vest for her from sherpa scraps I had left from making hats! Color blocking was a natural way to use them up and I still had enough to make me a sweater! More on that later. It’s a big 4 pattern #S8218 and was easy to put together. Vests aren’t really my style but she loved it! My mom is a career ICU night-nurse whose unit was recently turned into a C0v1d ward. She worked last night, and will work again tonight, so M and I wanted to surprise her by shoveling her driveway and dropping off goodies for her to take to work later in the evening. It was a nice morning! This is my plea to you to protect people like her working so hard in the medical field by getting vaccinated and exercising precautions. I’ve heard a lot of people say “Well, this strain is milder so I’m not as worried about getting sick.” WELL, there are immunocompromised people that need you to not get sick so they don’t. And health care workers need you to not get sick, so other people don’t, and then end up in their care. She didn’t want me to share a photo of her in her scrubs, but I still want you all to know the important work that she’s doing, caring for the most sick and vulnerable veterans out there (have I mentioned she’s worked at the VA for decades?) I found a fun pattern very easy-to-sew pattern if anyone wants to test out the fuzzy outerwear trend. I ran into the store last week to pick up a pattern, spotted this animal print fabric and decided to bring a piece home. I really wasn’t quite sure how I felt about the whole look until I slapped on a giant belt, some big glasses, and faux leather pants when the power of the chetah kicked in.
