When I wear a jumpsuit I like to jump around, jump around, jump up jump up and get down. Pattern: McCall’s #M7908 Fabric: stretch denim 95% cotton / 5% elastane, from @moodfabrics Fit notes: Size 8 A/B cup. Stretch fabric is key. I didn’t make a toile so I basted the waist to try on, then stitched the actual waist seam with as little seam allowance on the pants side as possible (~1/4”). Next version I’ll add 1” to the rise. It must be about time I shared this #m7908 jumpsuit that I have worn all holidays and has travelled to chch and back with me and has been through several iterations while still not having any belt fastenings. Good things take time. It started with short sleeves but when I tried to wear it the sleeves were so restrictive I had to take them off. Without sleeves the jumpsuit is possibly the most comfy thing I own. I have tried it with merino, tshirts and puffy blouses throughout the holidays and I love it. In the second week I decided a belt was a good idea so added loops but m still waiting on some buckles to arrive in the mail. Sizing, made a 14 (?!) as per measurements and I feel it is a bit big as the big four patterns usually are. Took the shoulders in a little and the waist and hips but left it loose for comfort. Also shortened rise by 2cm. Made in a black stretch denim from @wearethefabricstore with dark grey topstitching thread. Worn with #roscoeblouse in white cotton and new #ilfordjacket in black and white check wool mohair then in last few photos with my new merino #adrienneblouse @fridaypatterncompany which I really love. Will show blouse separately. I finally made another #m7908 by @simplicitymccallsuk aka my DREAM JUMPSUIT 🥰✨😍✨ This time I chose the sleeveless option without any back pockets and I'm obsessed! I self drafted a waistband and finished all my seams with invisible bias binding (#prettyguts ) This gorgeous printed fabric is a thick cotton twill blend with a little bit of stretch on the width. #memademay @simplicitymccallsaustralia #m7908 Made with deadstock RM Williams denim. ... I've been wanting a denim jumpsuit for a while now. I always struggle because I have a longer than average torso. I added 4cm in the crotch which gave it some really nice ease as there was no stretch in the denim. I also added 1.5cm to the underarms for a little more movement. The bodice was all top-stitched so I decided to go with flat felled seams to make everything look nice on the inside. The pattern has three different bust size options which helps with customisation. I purchased a 75 cm brass zipper from @spotlightstores which I then cut to fit the length I needed. I would recommend this pattern to those who are confident in making adjustments.

Happy summer sewing Sunday!!! I missed last week as I was vacationing with my hubby in Colorado to celebrate our impending 50th birthdays. Now I am back! This is my fourth version of #m7908, and I suspect there will be more! I love how you can completely transform the same pattern by using different fabrics, adjusting fit slightly to be more or less fitted, adding top stitching etc. This version is made out of a structured red stretch denim from @voguefabrics. As soon as school lets out I always treat myself with a visit to vogue. It’s definitely the official start of my summer after I have gone there to dream up summer creations. I fell in love with this fabric while hunting for some white denim to make wide leg jeans for summer. Even though I have vowed this is the summer of sewing down the stash, I just had to have it! I kept the fit a bit looser since I have found my tighter denim version is very hot once the humidity creeps up around here. I don’t want this fabric clinging to my body! I wore it out for the first time last night and got lots of compliments. I feel like custom jumpsuits are totally worth making since commercial ones are so hard to fit! I finished this jumpsuit a couple of weeks ago but I am a little unsure if this actually suits me 😅. I normally don't wear big prints but this fabric enticed me 😄. Based on pattern #m7908 but there were so many adjustments and ignored style lines, I can't say I made that pattern 😁. Fabric bought from a Facebook destash page, it is stretch denim with print that seems to be painted on 🤔. I couldn't find the zipper of desired colour and length so recycled a zipper from an old dress. It is comfortable to wear but I might stick to self drafting from now on so I don't waste so much time making fit adjustments 😵‍💫. Earlier this month I went scrounging through my fabric stash trying to find a specific scrap I thought I still had. I looked on every shelf, sorted through each box, & dumped out all the bags. No luck. But I did find this houndstooth fabric identified as “Not Great, but Maybe?” [a pretty self-explanatory hierarchy of fabric categorization, I guess. 🤔😂] Perhaps the time was right for the “Maybe” to become a “Yes”? Especially since this is #magamScroungingSeptember !! @anakiequilter @sewing_in_spain and @suestoney , please accept this as my #magamsewalong submission. Every piece of this jumpsuit was scrounged from my stash: 20-year-old fabric, 40-year-old bias tape, a zipper purchased 3 years ago for a project I never made… Pattern is McCalls #m7908 As with any jumpsuit, there are additional fit issues to consider. Photo 2 shows the multiple rows of stitching being ripped out at the waist after thinking I had the fit right…🤦‍♀️ I did get to use one of my favorite techniques - putting 2 threads through the 1 needle to make the topstitching more visible!
