This outfit is so very me! ✨ When I received this in the @sewhayleyjane box in January, I knew straight away the type of dress I wanted to make with it. I searched for a while before finding this New Look #n6509 dress and it is perfect~ This is the first Big 4 pattern I've made, and I actually found it relatively straightforward. I had a lot of gaping at the front so I had to put in an extra dart. I do, however, find that the pockets give it a bit of extra bulk around the hips, so I might omit them when I make this again. These days I record every single stitch, cut, tear and laugh. Today I record my win. A hacked dress saw on a influencer some time ago and the dress this person wore was sold out/ company closed. Months later I decided to follow @ roseryapparel initiative and hack it. The bodice is New Look #N6509 view A and simple math for the skirt. Yay! Have to fix some details but Im so freaking happy with it as it is... ❤️

2023 ended much differently than anticipated. It was a year of growth, starting this account, learning to sew knits and pants, and dipping a toe into pattern testing. I finished multiple knit projects and then promptly shrank 2 and stained 1. My intentions for #makenine2024 include 3 knits, 3 indie patterns, and 3 stashed patterns. #makenine2024 update! I’ve definitely stalled a bit in my creating in the first 6 months of the year, but managed to check 3 items off my #makenine with 3 more in progress. I’ve completed 2 Sunrise Skorts with one queued as a late birthday gift for my roomie, the grief sweater, and 2 pairs of socks. Turns out, socks are fun! And easy! Currently toiling my three Big 4 patterns (shock of all shocks) and hope to complete before the summer is out. Should things all work out, the Vogue will quickly be repeated a dozen times over for some work dresses. On pause is the Minna dress, Winona Polo, and Polar Pullover. The Minna is paused because I want to send to A0 print and need to send multiple patterns at once. I was very excited to begin the Winona in March, but I’m still searching for the 5 skeins I need of Quince & Co Finch in Ecru (help a gal out!).
