I don’t post much anymore, but I do like sharing the clothes I’ve been making. Today seemed like the perfect day to show this poncho/coat I made a little while back from some VERY thick, double sided wool I bought a couple years ago and needed to use. This #moodfabrics double wool in heather grey and murky forest green was taking up a ton of room in my fabric stash, and I figured this was a great project for it. The pattern is #mccallspatterns #m7202 and it was a relatively quick sew. Had I used a lighter fabric, I likely could have sewn this in a couple of hours. However, due to the heavy density of this wool, I had to hand sew a lot of it. My poor machine struggled on this one. I broke four heavy needles during construction. I faced the inside and felled the seams- there are a lot of little finishing details I added to make it special. I used magnetic snaps as closures. Originally, I was just doing this project to use up the fabric, but it has become my favorite winter coat! #sewing #madebyme

It's done! 😁 Well, mostly. Actually I finished all the stitching last week, but I couldn't decide what type of closures to put on it (you can see the pins marking the spots). I realllly wanted to use some fancy frog closures, but.... I think the fleece is just too thick, and the way the front overlaps doesn't quite seem to work with the frogs. Now I'm thinking fancy buttons and snaps, but I haven't had a chance to get to the craft store to pick them up. My goal was to get it done before I had to go for some surgery though, and since there's no machine sewing left on it, I'm calling it done. 😉 It did come out just as pictured on the pattern envelope, and I'm quite happy with it! I made a few adjustments (like cutting it at a half size between L and XL), and I used satin bias tape to finish all the inside seams (which might be my favorite part of it). Here's another late post. I made this #cape for my hubby. That's our teenager modeling it. The hubby has been asking for one to hang out in around the house. I used fleece from @joann_stores and sweatshirt fleece from @walmart to create this fun project. To get the look he wanted, I used #m7202 for the hood and #b7313 for the cape. I added a little message to him in the hood using my @officialcricut and #htv vinyl. He loves it. 😊 I love to see him reclining in his cape. Hello All! Today's post is the poncho/cape that I posted about last week! I was finally able to get pics to show. I made this using @mccallpatterncompany #m7202 . This is a beginner pattern but it had the look I was going for... Simple but cute. I purchased my fabric and faux fur from @joann_stores . I decided to add the fur after I finished the project. I had to measure, cut and sew the fur together to make it be the length that I needed. Throwing it back to one of the first items of clothing I’ve ever made (with my Mom’s help/guidance of course). This is still one of my favorite things to throw on when I need a light jacket. I worked on my very first garment commission this past week. A SPACE CAPE ✨based off of Sayuri’s colorful ponchos she wears for performances. I custom ordered the fabric from @spoonflower x @hazelfishercreations and it was my very first time working with satin. I modified @mccallpatterncompany’s m7202 pattern to fit the needs for my garment (added center front half zip, eliminated back seam, and made it fully lined).
