#FashionOnTheSofaFriday finds me seated on the sun lounger in my garden, which unfortunately is now out of season. October is just around the corner and autumn is already here. It's fresh enough to wear this little pullover.  I used #mccallspatterns #m8240. It's quick and easy to sew and it wasn't the last time that I used this pattern. I didn't have enough of this lovely @albstoffe sweat fabric (from my stash) in an autumnal print and had to buy a small amount of matching fabric for the sleeves and the collar. I think this makes this pullover very unique. The scraps of fabric were made into a scarf that will come in handy when it gets really cold. Made these 2 tops back in early March. Both are @simplicity_creative_group Mccalls 8240 and fabric is from @fabricmartfabric. Trim for the gray top is from Amazon. The camo is a light weight rib knit and the gray is some of the Donni thermal knit I purchased from FabricMart a few months ago. I’ve made myself another #m8240 with matching pants (pattern from Onion). This time I added button holes and buttons to the placket. This suit is just as comfy as lounge wear but a bit more dressed up. I think I could wear it at work and then straight to bed.😉 The fabric is once again from @ohlssonstyger and the beautiful buttons are thrifted.

McCalls M8240 I shared this on YouTube, one of my latest makes which is ironically actually too warm for the autumn weather we're having in the UK ☀️ I'd had this pattern cut out for a year and finally got round to sewing it up a few weeks ago. It's a great pattern, nothing particularly tricky (although the collar was a headscratcher at points) and a good wardrobe staple. I'm already planning another in a camel colour, or maybe sky blue, or maybe both... Fitting was fine, I cut out an M and it's a comfy, relaxed fit. I raised the neckband placket by 2 or 3 inches as it was too low for me. I didn't add cuff or hem bands, just did a standard hem. The fabric is from Higgs and Higgs, bought a few years back so no longer available. The sewing of this #m8240 was an experiment. It was made out of a thrifted lace curtains. I made the placket, sleeve and lower band out of some jersey from @ohlssonstyger. Since there was jersey left I also made a pair of pants to match the shirt. I don’t know when to wear those though, maybe on a lazy summers day? They look too much like pajama pants for work!😂

My goal this year is to sew more and use up my fabric stash and buy less fabric, we’ll see lol. Finally, #m8240 this was a quick sew but I was torn about adding buttons. Once I put it through the dryer I felt it covered enough that were good. Some reviewers say the placket instructions are confusing BUT on @simplicity_creative_group website there's a video by @mimigstyle that covers plackets! Ask & I'll look it up, it's from a sweater dress. Fabric is from @joann_stores & pattern is by #mccallspatterns

This dress was a practice in patience, but we got there! It started off as a Jesse Tee dress hack, but gave immediate hospital gown vibes after initial try on. I tried to save it by adding some contrast ribbing to the neckline and sleeve hems for a ringer look, and I still hated it. BUT THEN @marmarsuperstar123 suggested the Named Loviisa Dress and I was immediately smitten with the style lines. I used the #M8240 as a base since I already had the pattern in my stash and it’s made for knit fabric. Could not be happier with how it turned out! The @wearethefabricstore jacquard knit really sings with a more structured fit. So proud of myself for pushing through to get a piece I love—the fabric was just too precious to let it go to waste.

Happy Sunday friends- I sewed up McCall’s 8240 over the weekend which is a pullover knit top with a front placket and collar. I just looked back on my grid and it’s been 2 years since I originally made it. At the time I loved it but wanted it on a print, guess that took a while 😂. Better still is how quickly this came together and seeing the improvement from time and practice.This gorgeous print fabric is from @minervadotcom that I purchased in the Spring and it was just the perfect fabric for this. It has a good stretch and great feel. I had a pair of pants that match so well and weren’t getting worn so win win! This is a good pattern for a staple piece and I am sure to make it again. MMM Day 4 | 31 - Aaaand we’re back to warm weather again - yay! I didn’t realize I had never posted this polo top, so here’s a new make to share.
