Finished this just in time for a few wears before the fun summer theme is off-season. 😬 🕶 I had some of my biggest sewing highs with this project but also a few disappointments. I’m super-proud of the neckband because I’d never made one before and it went so well. I was surprised (and relieved) by how easy this knit was to sew with. Also, I think this came together really well and pretty easily overall (even for me!). The shorts fit great. I’m bummed because the top feels like a poncho, and the shorter length with the wide width is too airy for me. 🥑 On the plus side, it is super-comfortable to sleep in! I will definitely use this pattern again. Not sure if I will just size down the top. I really want to make the long-sleeved + pants version, ideally in a yellow like on the package. My winter wfh uniform 🍂 . A while ago I took part in my first pattern test for @chalkandnotch for the waterfall raglan tee. It was such a fun experience and a lovely community of fb during the process! I was quite nervous being a fairly novice sewist but it was a great experience, thanks again Gabriela! For anyone who hasn't done a pattern test before I would definitely say not to feel you have to be an expert sewist to take part. So funny! Made this lounge wear outfit in the depths of Winter. It quickly became my go to outfit once it got dark! The top is a #burda #6253 sweatshirt made from a stretch jersey. To make it extra cosy I lined it with a quilt wadding and then a thin cotton inner! (Now you can see why I rarely wore anything else!) At this point I’m all about the elastic waist lounge pant. But like, what if you could jazz them up and make an outfit?! I know, I know, people already do this. But when I found this bright orange ribbed knit for a steal, I immediately saw a swanky matching set! Enter @simplicity_creative_group pattern #s9020 for the pants and poof! I present “The Internet’s Most Boring Flat Lay” No accessories, no shoes, no layers. Just jeans and a top- perfect simplicity I made this top over the summer and it’s finally cool enough in the morning to wear this. More loungewear. I know, more! Making this top went so smoothly and was a super fast and easy make; that laid back attitude is what tripped me up when sewing the bottoms.🤣 I managed to someone sew both the right legs together and both left legs, including pockets, total mess!! Cut the SA off in the end and ditched the pockets so I now have slimline/pocketless joggers! That being said, I actually really like this simpler feel for PJs and I love the flat thick waistband of this pattern. So maybe a good mistake all in all! I’ll be making this pattern again as I love the slouchy simplistic feel, the pattern is the #s9020 and the fabric is from @sewyourownwardrobe. Now that PlanoASG’s Red Hot Mess Challenge is done, I can post these pjs I made in September! In Pre-Covid times planoasg distributed two yards of red knit fabric (plus a bunch of plastic tape measures that I haven’t used yet) and we were to make something of our choice. I combined mine with 2 yards of red and lilac striped (I think Lillestof?) fabric in my stash, and made everything in the #simplicity9020 pajama pattern: the short sleeve top, the long sleeve top, the pants, the shorts, two eye masks and a scrunchie. I added two little pockets on the front of the tops for interest. Very few scraps remain. My 19 year old son was my photographer, and when he saw me he said “You look like a five year old!” 😂😂😂So I have essentially made my own version of mix-and-match Garanimals (remember those?)🤣🤣.But these are way better than my holey T shirts I usually sleep in. They are so comfortable I have slept in them almost every night since. I made PANTS! They are my first finished garment for #thegreatmodulesewalong hosted by @tomkatstitcherycarmel and @carlamayfield5 . I love a high-waisted, cropped, slim-fitting trouser in a casual fabric, and I think I nailed it! Actually, finding pants like this that fit me this well in a store would be like finding a unicorn. They are a simple side-zip stretch woven trouser. I used olive stretch denim (1% spandex) from Joanns, and the pattern is #newlook6627. I made a size 14, omitted the front darts, and added an additional 1 1/2” at the waist. I added 1 1/2” to the back rise and subtracted 1” from the front rise. I subtracted 3” from the width of each leg at the hem, tapering from above. And I shortened the length by several inches (took 1” from the pattern, then turned up a giant hem). I intended to make this garment out of slubby white denim, but that fabric became a not-so-wearable muslin. If you are new to pants, and are picky about fit, I highly recommend starting with the simplest pattern possible. (Learned that the hard way.) The top is #simplicity9020 🖤 #n6627 #nl6627 #s9020
