Free McCall pattern #M7322 with my first hack

Finished my second #magamsewalong #decemberdreaming item, a refashion of a thrifted dress to a sleeveless top. Since making one in 2019 with a gorgeous border print dress, and having regrets about the pattern placement and neckline, I've been dreaming of finding another fun border print to try again. This cute cotton voile started life as a shirred bodice sundress (sadly I forgot to take a before pic). The bias binding is made from a deconstructed handmade skirt that I bought on etsy in 2009, made by Ashley of @patton.house, and outgrew years ago (see last 2 photos of the original listing on etsy). The lace and button are from deep stash. The lace detail around the neck is the type of little detail that I dreamed of adding to tops when I first started sewing, and this is actually the first time I've done it. I think it turned out really nice. I hand sewed the binding to the front to ensure that I kept the binding edge even on top of the lace as I went. I feel like my sewing skills have finally caught up to sewing some of the romantic flowy tops I've dreamed of making for years now, and I'm so excited to do more pretty little things! This top turned out a little kitschy, and it's completely #seasonablyinappropriate but in Texas I can solve that easily with a cardigan. Thanks to @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @hportemanteau for hosting this month's challenge! It was the kick i needed. This is a heavily modified @mccallpatterncompany #m7322, view A. MODS: added 2.5" to center front to allow for gathered neckline. Removed 1.5" from center back to locate shoulders correctly. Raised front neckline by 2.5" (pattern is very low cut on me as designed). Added 2" to hemline at sure, tapering to nothing at the underarm. Added a slit to the CB with a button and elastic loop closure to easily fit over my head. Used the slit facing finish from the @truebias Roscoe blouse, because it is pure perfection. In my defense, it's a metal bobbin that goes in a carrier then inserts in the side, under the machine. Not to mention, dropping it multiple times and having the pieces roll all over the wood floor. Another Basic - what else… 🇬🇧 I finally decided what to do with this Merino fabric I purchased ,what feels like a very long time ago ,at @wearethefabricstore . Nothing fancy , but rather sth I’ll need for this season and definitely going to wear a lot. The pattern is loose fitting which I prefer these days and it was (if I remember correctly ) the very first pattern I’ve bought when I started my sewing journey. I have to admit I didn’t like it much before, but rediscovered it as a perfect staple for basic clothes. 🇩🇪 Ich hatte diesen Merino Stoff vor einer gefühlten Ewigkeit gekauft und konnte mich nie so recht entscheiden was ich damit anfangen soll. Ich habe mich nun dazu entschieden das es ein schlichtes Teil werden soll welches ich zu dieser Jahreszeit auch tatsächlich tragen werde. Finished a shirt for myself tonight. The dress form doesn't do it justice. It drapes nicer on the body. I wasn't 100% happy with the faced neckline as it tries to flip out. So I have tacked down in some spots to stop it. Next time I will be trying the style with the neckband. I got my sew-jo back! 🎉 I made the McCall’s #m7322, from the pattern that was kindly given for free by @minervadotcom, and using some leftover viscose challis that I got from @rainbowfabrickilburn 👚 This was very easy to make, but it’s turned out super oversized, which I wasn’t expecting. I do love baggy tees though, so I’m not disappointed. If you want a tighter fit, definitely size down. 💕Before and After pictures💕 My gorgeous Guipure lace fabric is getting lots of use! Before, is me pregnant with our sweet twin girls in the maternity Butterick pattern 6068. I will be joining @marisewsforcurves and @h.i.powerperformance in an ugly sweater bootcamp workout via zoom at 4 pm today. Join me as I work off the Christmas cookies and the coquito I've had lately. 😳 My leggings are peg legs by @patternsforpirates. The top is #M7322 in thrifted fabric. First time making this pattern. It is rated beginners. The fit is horrible on this Arm holes too tight. Neckline too scooped. I would Not recommend this pattern to a beginner.

I made a top this weekend to go under my pinafore. It’s a McCalls pattern #M7322 The fabric is from @lamazifabrics & was lovely to work with, however the neckline for the pattern was one of the strangest I’ve done on a jersey & halfway through it really wasn’t working out so I ended up fudging it a bit & just turning it under. It’s not 100% perfect but I think it came out ok considering. I cut a size medium but it was a bit loose so I ended up taking the sides in a bit more.
