Our kitten has been playing havoc with my overlocker and coverstitch machines. I find him chewing threads and tangled up in them. My solution is to keep him out of the sewing room but then sometimes I forget to close the door!! So here is my overlocker cover. I made it from fabric from @joann_stores which I bought to make him a bed but decided not to bother (Lidl did a better one!) Lovely to use up fabric from my stash! I also lined it with orange canvas remnants from my yoga bag! There was no pattern as I couldn't find anything that made sense or was simple! So here are two ends with a single piece to join them! The measurements were trial and error with lots of error but I'm pleased with the finish. I quilted the cotton using wadding left over from my quilting class and I was pleased to use the skill again so I don't forget what to do! I put it all wrong sides together then just bound the edges with shop bought bias tape!!! My grandma gave me her serger when I was in my 20's as I was studying fashion and dress making back then. Practical sewing project alert 🚨 : a serger cover. My prior serger cover was a cheap, clear plastic cover that was not pretty but functional. I’d debated replacing it with something nicer but it wasn’t a priority… until Kuzco threw up 🤮 on my plastic serger cover and I had to throw it away. The pattern that I found on @etsy was great but called for making your own quilted fabric and I was too lazy to do that. So I bought this adorable, 🐇 rabbit-themed, double-sided pre-quilted fabric. When I quilted the fabric for making a couple of overlocker covers, I had some off cuts to use on another project or two. I made this small zippered case to keep my #byannie patterns in. I substituted the mesh for clear polythene instead as I thought it would be better suited for my needs. This has left me with only a 12 x12 inch piece which I will work on tomorrow for the fouth project. Not bad from 2 metres of fabric that I quilted.
