I made a pair of cropped, wide legged Urban Pants over the weekend. I hadn't a clue whether they would fit and look good on me as I tend to go a more straight legged pant, but I'm really, really pleased with how they worked out and they're so comfortable! I made them in a gorgeous navy ponte fabric from @tiaknightfabrics in the UK that I already had in my fabric stash. Perfect for my spring capsule wardrobe as my primary neutral this time is navy; I also have plans for a camel coloured pair which is also in my colour card for this season. Another day, another TAL make! I did the final tweaks to my first #talalmostlongtrousers and I'm going to wear them for the day to see if any more is needed, though I think this is juuuust right. I have a very short torso and so my final adjustment was to take 1" off the top of the pants, all the way around. I also adjusted the yoga waistband so that the back is about 1/2" shorter than the front. These hacks are a quick and dirty way to compensate for my shorter rise and give my flat seat adjustment a boost. I'm not sure if I already posted, but when my first waistband was too small I had to abandon the entire piece because you sew the elastic right into it instead of feeding it through. I find a wide yoga waistband to be the most comfortable on my thick waist and so I replaced it with the waistband from my #peurbanpants (because I know that works for me). I also took in the sides quite a bit on this size S - and probably could have used the XS as a starting point. There wasn't a lot of extra ease in the seat, but for me the thighs were too big. In the end I like this look. I'm wearing two RTW tops, the black sweater is a travel souvenir from our trip to Japan in late 2019, the last time we did a big trip. Sniff. This whole look feels very much like how most Japanese women dressed: lots of loose fitting layers with interesting details so things don't look too much like a shapeless sack. Well that was a quick make but they could fit a little better? Maybe a little on the loose side. I may have to scoop out the front crotch a little. Ian said nice pyjamas. Lol. I was going to do a faux jumpsuit and make a top to go with it but don’t have enough fabric and it may be too much. I might try the size smaller next time. See how these go first. Immediately after making the #patternemporiumpattern wide leg #peurbanpants in a float bamboo-cotton-rayon I knew I wanted to try the flare style in a heavy ponte. These were so fast and I loooove them. Same adjustments as for the wide leg version: #flatseatadjustment #lowseatadjustment #shorttorso and this time I sewed one set of darts in the back to make it easier to attach the size 10 pants to size 12 waistband. My first makes of 2025. Inspired by the knit lounge wear sets I have seen on the high street. I am really pleased with the pattern and fabric pairings. The fabric is a melange soft knit fabric from @1stforfabrics and the patterns are from pattern emporium @patternemporium_kate. The top is the #pesweetcheekssweater and the trousers the #peurbanpants. I sewed the majority on my over locker and have loved wearing during the cold weather.

Last day to get the beautiful new Be Mine blouse pattern on sale from @patternemporium_kate The #pebeminetop has maybe the best sleeves of any pattern I've ever sewn. Optional front and back center seams and back button closure to add some pretty details. I've already sewn up a second one and imagine my closet will be full of these eventually! Finally a post for #memademay! I am presently suffering from Jet Lag + Bad Head Cold which has resulted in a case of the blues. I’ve been spending too much time scrolling and feeling zero inspiration to post. Then I saw someone use @tartan_tarlatan prompts and I had a good laze in the warm sun and finally was inspired! Todays prompt: something you had to alter These pants are #peurbanpants that I made using fabric I had forgotten to prewash (but thought I had) and so when I washed and dried they ended up shrinking and were too short. I fixed this by adding a deep hem band and alls well that ends well. These are my go to pants for when I want comfort and the thrill of the ‘swish’. Worn with my #peunwindsweater that also needed altering to narrow the sleeve because I guess I have skinny forearm and wrists? Both patterns from @patternemporium_kate.
