It’s shopping day here in Stage 4 lockdown Melbourne which means actual clothes and real outside shoes were worn! So I celebrated by capturing my OOTD (photo shoot directed by my 5yo, who was in her pyjamas). Today I’m feeling really grateful that we are safe and cosy at home, that we have a wonderfully supportive school and teachers, that our shops are still full of supplies and we can have almost anything delivered, and that our Covid numbers are gradually reducing to a manageable level. My favourite pattern clash outfit this summer - a fantastic wide leg jumpsuit and a drapey Cardi - both patterns from @patternemporium_kate (both patterns will be on sale very soon)! I fell in love with the spotted linen from @tessutifabrics… but it sold out very quickly and I was a little disappointed. When I saw it had been restocked, I purchased immediately with the #peseachangejumpsuit in mind. Magic happened when I placed the ITY fabric from @lushfabricsaustralia next to the linen… and the #pemyembracecardi became the perfect accompaniment to the jumpsuit. These are my top 9 most WORN garments for 2020. Remembering that we spent over 6 months in lockdown in Melbourne therefore comfort was the priority! I got lots of wear from my #peunwind jumpers and #pemyembracecardi. The #pepleatstomeetyoupants were a firm favourite for hanging around at home too. For the tiny bits of warm weather we’ve had I often reach for my #peexhale dress or top. Since we’ve been out of lockdown I’ve been getting lots of wear from my #peppermintpocketskirt and #millertrousers along with my #torrensboxtop. These are patterns I definitely would like to make more of. Then of course is my #twigandtalemask of which I have many and have been mandatory here in Melbourne for the past 5 months. We’re now allowed to exercise and visit people without them but they are still essential when visiting indoor shops, medical practices etc. For such a small inconvenience of wearing them they seem to have done so much to help and we’re now over 40 days without any community transmission in our state. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Clothes are meant to be worn and I’m grateful to have a mainly handmade wardrobe that fits me so well to wear everyday. I have lots on my list that I hope to be able to sew in 2021 but I’m not going to set any goals. I don’t post because I have a difficult time photographing myself (for many reasons) and finding a nice location. Here I am at work in our stationery room. Achtung, ROSA!!! Ha ha, jetzt wird es doch noch mal etwas rosa-lastig hier auf meinem Profil. Und das ändert sich auch nicht dadurch, dass sich die rote 🐈 Düse mit ins Bild geschlichen hat (oder besser auf meinen Arm 🙈). Was mich hier in rosa einwickelt, ist der My Embrace Cardi von Pattern Emporium. Und dass dieser Cardigan wie eine Umarmung ist, ist ja wohl nicht zu übersehen. Eigentlich bin ich für diese "formlosen" Überwürfe nicht zu haben. Passform? Fehlanzeige 😉 Muss aber auch gar nicht. Hier geht es nicht darum, dass sich der Stoff sanft um meine Rundungen schlingt 😆. In der Original-Beschreibung heißt es "Women's Cocoon Cardi" und einem Kokon kommt dieser Cardigan auch schon sehr nahe. Seitdem ich sie habe, ist sie zu meiner Lieblingsjacke geworden. Egal, ob zu Rock oder Hose, man kann sie immer überwerfen. Für diejenigen, die es nicht so lang mögen, gibt es den Cardigan auch in kürzer. Ich fand aber gerade das so mega toll, so dass ich wirklich die längste Länge gewählt habe. Genäht ist der Cardigan aus dem rosa Strick, den Ihr vor ein paar Tagen schon an mir mit dem V-Raglan-Shirt gesehen habt. Für den Cardigan war der Strick ursprünglich gedacht, so dass ich zur Sicherheit etwas mehr gekauft hatte. Der Strick stammt von der Stofflounge. So, und nun muss ich ins Bett. Mein Urlaub ist leider rum, und morgen muss ich wieder früh aufstehen. My quickest makes ever and my quickest entry into a new #MagamSewAlong theme. This is my latest @minervadotcom #MinervaBrandAmbassador project I was thrilled when they offered me their Exclusive Sweater Knit called Nebulous Night. It was just what I was after to make the @patternemporium_kate My Embrace Cardigan and I had enough left to cut out my t&t favourite, the @namedclothing Paola. More details on this make can be found on the #Minerva website - link in bio. I cut out both on Saturday and managed to sew both on Sunday. This alone released my happy hormones as I couldn't believe how easy the Embrace Cardigan was using only two pattern pieces and yet how lovely and elegant it looks and feels but then the way it embraces me with a warm hug, especially in a gorgeous fabric, sent my happy hormones racing, who doesn't love a good embrace, now I can have one when hubby is being tight with his 😅 I had to send him down the shops for a bar of chocolate 😋 to add to this good feeling. I love how the Cardigan looks with a couple of my dresses too. An accidental twin-set or is it a co-ord set? 😀 …sewn up in a textured poly jersey from stash. I wanted to use the drape of this fabric, came across Pattern Emporium’s My Embrace Cocoon Cardi on sale recently and thought I’d give it a try. I made the knee length option with the short cuffed sleeve. Due to the directional print, I cut on grain with centre back seam unavoidable. Even with pattern matching, a speedy sew with only two pattern pieces. . With just enough fabric left to squeeze out a top, I used Cashmerette’s Pembroke Dress and Tunic pattern … tried and true from a few years back …cut sleeves as long as I could and pieced the neckband at the centre front. . Oh hi! Long time no post! Things have been a bit crazy over here in full time parent-full time study-part time work-land. I’ve been loving the posts and discussions of #memademay2021 and #memademayplus and it’s usually #memadeallyear over here but no time for photos this month. I did get a bit of a study break recently and was able to squeeze in some #patterntesting for my favourite @patternemporium_kate. I’m especially excited about this one as the size range is up to a size 30/149cm/58 3/4inch hip. The skirt, as you can see, is not at all fitted and the bust size goes up to 139cm/54 3/4inches. It’s called the Every Days’s a Weekend dress because it’s the most comfortable yet stylish dress full of options for all seasons including my favourite bishop sleeves. Simple patterns in fancy fabrics is my latest vlog chat over on YouTube. This is one of them, the simplest of cardigans. It’s the #myembracecardi by @patternemporium_kate made in a fancy ish fabric (it was £1.50 a metre from the rag market 😅) but for me at least it’s a bit fancy looking 😂. This cardigan is one pattern piece which folds over to make the front and back, then sleeves or cuffs are added. Hemmed all round then finished - simples! 💛🧡🤎🖤🩶💜

When you get 4m of fabric on clearance from #spotlightstores and you decide to make separates (which I guess you could wear together…I just haven’t 😂) Here I have made a @patternemporium_kate #myembracecardigan made September 2022. Then I recently made a #peppermintmagazinewrapskirt in a knit fabric rather than a woven. I sized down by 2 sizes and I’m really happy with the result ☺️ I finished this one in February 2024 ☺️ Now I don’t have any of this fabric left and I have worn these items numerous times already (the cardigan more but of course that would be the case as I’ve had it for longer 😂😉)

The resulting #myembracecardigan is SO cozy - it has just enough weight and structure. It feels very Ann Taylor Loft 😍 I love when you make some thing and it just feels so high-end, that’s how the structure of this cardigan feels. It’s a bit heavier and more structured than I would usually use for a cardigan, but that’s what gives it the nice body and I’m loving it!

Here’s me getting blown away in my new cocoon cardigan 💨 I love cardigans … and this #MyEmbraceCardigan from Pattern Emporium is no exception. This is actually my 3rd My Embrace Cardi … and I love it just as much as the others.  💕   The cardigan is also ‘first cab off the rank’ for my #MakeNineChallenge – a mini wardrobe capsule for my upcoming vacation to Bali. The snuggly cocoon shape of the cardigan is going to keep me cosy on the plane. I don’t know about you, but I find the aircon on planes always so cold. The great thing about this cardigan too, and especially the fabric I made it in, is that it folds up to nothing and so won’t take up too much room in my luggage.   I used a Linen Viscose Knit from @MinervaDotCom which is the perfect weight for layering, and I love the drape. The pattern, as with all PE patterns is just wonderful.
