I have been thinking about making this dress since I saw a gorgeous version posted on 31st December 2023 on Facebook. I purchased the #pegoingplacesdress pattern that very same day, knowing that I would make the fit and flare version when I found the perfect fabric. Although I do love florals, I don’t tend to wear them as much as I used to. However, I do make exceptions for a graphic print floral - and I was drawn to this DBP from @lushfabricsaustralia, as it the most beautiful shade of blue. I don’t think I have really worn a body-hugging dress after my 2 kids came along. When the opportunity to test came, I thought, ok la, try try. Move out of my comfort zone a bit. A Barbie themed gym outfit in two fabrics I don't recommend for active wear: 1-way stretch scuba (not stretchy enough) and lightweight rib knit (too stretchy). Fortunately their power united is greater than the sum of their parts...and the stretch averages out. Leggings are @simplicitymccallsaustralia #simplicity8212, the crop top #simplicity8339 and the tank top (in random stash fabric) is #simplicity8338. I added a phone pocket to the leggings and hacked the neckline of the bra using the #pegoingplacesdress. I can't get enough of this outfit! I spent months on the hat, slowly sewing the lace to the frame and assembling it in different stages. The dress was a quick make though: full-steam ahead on the overlocker! And the best thing about a knit dress: no zip! Liverpool is a poly knit, but has a forgiving crepe texture that I just love.
