I had a spare few hours today so I made up two tees from the Lounge Dress pattern, from Pattern Emporium. She had this on her Friday sale last week and I picked it up. Believe it or not, I did not own any dolman style patterns and I thought I should try this style. I knew I simply wanted to try a T-shirt and I made both Tee’s with 1.3 meters of fabric with a little ingenuity. These are a simple sew and I can always do with a few more T-shirts. This beach cover up is so comfy, I keep wanting to wear it all the time. It is the @patternemporium_kate lounge dress which comes with a variety of necklines, hem lines and sleeve lengths. This is the v neck, with a cap sleeve and regular hem. The jersey is a viscose jersey with all the florals on it from @sewessentialuk The photo is taken just at the pool entrance, so excuse the no make-up look, but aren’t these pink bougainvillea gorgeous.

My new favourite lounge wear! I'd be eyeing up this pattern for a while before buying it and I wish I'd bought it sooner!. Paired with a soft French terry fabric it's perfectly non-fitted for lounging in but smart enough for wearing out. I managed to squeeze it out of 2m of fabric but had to do the option of the back in two pieces (back panels cut upside down so you'd need more fabric if directional) and completely forgot to add seam allowances to the back panels. This has given me the happy accident of a slightly more fitted dress than the pattern intends, but I love it. I have been trying out some different looks recently, and although I was never enamoured with #peloungedress (as it is drafted at knee length) I thought I would try adding some length to make it more in line with my style. I discovered this awesome DTY big scale print from @lushfabricsaustralia in my stash, which was a perfect match for this pattern. DTY drapes so beautifully and is so silky to wear, and a busy, all-over print is a great way to lengthen and streamline your body. I have to say, I am thrilled with the dress after adding 35cm to the length and adding a pop of colour with this pink ribbing from @materialdifference.com.au for the neckband and pocket bindings. When I saw these two colours together, I had an idea… and created this #peloungedress, which is one of the most comfortable garments I have ever made. It is giving me Tommy Hilfiger vibes, so - from this day forth, this will be forever known as my faux Tommy Hilfiger dress 😂 The fabric is a new base for me, which is a rib knit. Not only was it easy to cut and sew, it also has a lovely drape and feels beautifully soft to wear. It is a great fabric base for Spring and Summer garments as it feels lovely, light and breathable. The dress pattern is the same as my last post, but I added 7mm to the centre seam and added an extra 3cm in the length. 👗👚👖Me Made May 2022 👕🩳🧥 It’s the 1st of June, and so the end of #memademay2022 In my planning, I was pleasantly surprised to have enough makes for the entire month of May without any repeats. However, by the end of May, I found I had left my fun party dresses which didn’t pair super well with being home sick, or cleaning the house 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve enjoyed wearing makes that I don’t always reach for every week, and have noted that I definitely need some more layering pieces (I see a few turtlenecks in my future) and more casual around home clothes (more axis tanks and peg legs combos have been planned!), as well as some more options to wear to work. Overall I very much enjoyed wearing something handmade each day, and really thinking about what I actually need more of in my me made wardrobe. #mmm2022

Didn’t know we were going to have a heatwave so this was a timely make. It’s the Lounge Dress from Pattern Emporium. The only alteration I made was to lift the shoulder by 1cm as the v neck was a little low. Lovely cotton and elastane fabric from Dots n Stripes in Dundee - but bought at the Knitting and Stitching show. I’ve had lots from them before and it is very nice quality. The fabric is a panel print that needed a lot of consideration to get the best from it. Helped a lot by cutting it with a projector. I don’t imagine it will get much more wear this summer but it was intended as an easy pullover garment to put on over a swimsuit, and it ticks all the right boxes. #sewover50 #patternemporium #peloungedress #dotsnstripes #jukidx7

I don’t know about you, but I love the ease of a dress - being able to throw it on, add some simple accessories and you are ready to walk out the door and take on the world! This gorgeous DTY fabric from @lushfabricsaustralia was the inspiration for this make. As the print is quite big and interesting, I chose the #peloungedress - a simple silhouette with no waist seam to keep the integrity of the fabric. I added 40cm to the length as I love a good maxi, as well as shoulder pads for a little more drama. Not only does this elevate the look but gives more balance to my triangle shape. Since completion, I have worn this dress heaps - down the coast, to the dentist, shopping and running errands. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I’d be making a white hoodie. But after some inspiration from Pinterest I knew it would look great with my @burda_style jacket - which has been languishing in the back of the cupboard for the past 12 months. I don’t make many garments in solid colours (does anyone else find staring at solid colours really boring?!) but as I cut into this cosy fleece from @lushfabricsaustralia, a spark of excitement ignited. I've made a bunch of casual knit dresses lately. Here are two of the 5 I've made so far this month. These are both the Lounge Dress from Pattern Emporium. I made it once before, so they were both quick makes. I quite liked the high/low hem, so I did it again. A man on a bike that I walked past while wearing the hooded one called it "polka plaid," which I kinda dig. It's a nice cotton blend that has a lovely drape and the floral is a cotton knit that seems to have a little spandex, but not enough to give it more than average recovery. I don't remember where either came from.
