This week I finished my @patternemporium_kate #seachangeplaysuit in a gorgeous linen/cotton from @missmoresby I usually procrastinate a bit (although this fabric has been in my stash for over a year so that’s procrastination right there! 😆) and it’s not unusual for my sewing to sit unfinished for weeks! But once I started this I really wanted to finish it, so I actually got it all done in a day. That’s fast for me 😂 I think because the weather here in Matakana, NZ has been so amazing, I thought if I could get it finished quickly I’d still get time to wear it before the cooler weather sets in. I absolutely adore this fabric and it sewed up so beautifully. The colours are so gorgeously vibrant. It was perfect for this playsuit.

My first entry into #sewfruity24 This is my Pattern Emporium Seachange playsuit in strawberry viscose from Legend Textiles. I have do a lot of altering to get it to fit my very short top half, but luckily I can still get it on and off! I’ve had to reposition the ties by several inches! Next time, I’ll shorten the middle section considerably before I cut! I might try the jumpsuit next. I’ve left this one knee length as it looks quite like a dress, which I like. Thanks to @blossomsandwich for the challenge. This is my second #patternemporium #seachangeplaysuit, which I finished early last week. In this first photo, I’ve wrapped and belted the self-ties, and in the second one I’ve tied them behind my back. I feel like I should love this pattern, but I’m somewhat undecided. I just find that it’s not all that flattering on me in person, although it’s extremely comfortable. I have one more cut one in a really fun linen, so maybe that one will work better? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Details… * I cut this in an Australian Size 6 from a lovely viscose called Tigre Regina Cherry with fantastic drape from @tessutifabrics in Australia. I do love this fabric! * The fit and size were generally right, though I took it in about 1cm on each side under the arms. * I used the wide straps, closed facings, long self-ties, and added pockets. * I’m really happy I added the pockets on this one! My second project finished just yesterday was a toile for the new #patternemporium #seachangeplaysuit. I picked up this white linen for a song at one of the stalls in the #hongkongwesternmarket. (The vendor said there was a stain running throughout the bolt. But you could barely see it, so I bought a few meters, washed it with hot water, and whatever stains there were just disappeared. Now I’m heading back there to pick up a few more meters for summer shirts!) Details... * Size 6 graded to a size 8 on the bottom, Aussie sizing, of course. Next time I will cut a straight 6, especially in linen, which tends to grow as you wear it. * Closed facings * Cut the middle length playsuit length but gave it a much deeper hem, closer to 5cm * Wide straps with no adjustment * I fabricated a sash but will also try using this stretchy embroidered ribbon that my friend sourced for us from Taobao for a belt. * I originally added pockets but took those out because they sat in a funny way on my hips, especially when the playsuit was belted. This is my "wearable" toile of the Seachange playsuit.  Details Pattern - Seachange jumpsuit by @patternemporium_kate Fabric - very light weight rayon, purchased about 12 months ago from @eastcoastfabricsau My measurements equal upper bust size 14, bust 18, waist 24 and hip 16. I drafted and cut a bust 14, waist 18 and hip 16. I found it difficult to know which waist size to use as there are no finished garment measurements in the pattern instructions. I was unsure of how much ease is included in the pattern, so I felt like I was winging it.  I used the fixed and wide straps, the side ties, playsuit mid length, pockets and the neckline with open facing. Note to others the facing doesn't include the wide strap version, so I drafted my own. I don't love the fabric as it's not very "me" at all but was fine for a wearable toile. I used a hook and eye closure at the back and can't do it up myself so I would probably use ties on a 2nd version. It's pretty comfortable and I'd like to try the jumpsuit version as I love the wide leg style and could wear it to work with a shirt underneath.  #seachangeplaysuit #patternemporium #wearabletiole #sewcraftykellie2025

Another shortie jumpsuit. I made one recently and it was so comfortable to wear on holiday that I decided I needed another for my upcoming trip to Brisbane 🙃. It's loose, cool and decent enough for a visit to the park or the beach. I also made a wide strap cropped vest to go under it for added coverage (although the straps are wide enough to cover bra straps I just wanted a bit more cover!) Tie straps, pockets, full range of motion! What doesn't this jumpsuit have? I'm so so ready to lose long sleeves in exchange for more summery garb. I don't often see viscose poplin; usually it's cotton poplin that is the classic. This is a really wonderful find, this is heavier and sturdier than challis, but in no way heavy or overly stable, if that makes any kind of sense. The drape is still extreme, but the weight is a step up and it's less precious to handle. A quick fun sew today- the #seachangejumpsuit as extra flowy elastic high waist pants 🥰 This make took about half an hour using some scrap fabric I’d previously found at the op shop and the colour and drape is perfect for what I was after! I have made a concerted effort for the past few years to buy fabric that fits what I reach to wear rather than being drawn to something in the moment. The first pic is my January makes. The second is with the addition of some of my favourite things. This is becoming a very versatile wardrobe because of this buying policy -pink, green mustard, blue and that autumnal brown area that encompasses a few colours but basically says autumn. I've never been able to wear shop bought jumpsuits as my longer than average torso (and shorter than average legs!) mean I'd have a permanent wedgie 😁 One of the many advantages of making your own clothes is being able to make them to fit. Some big & bold flower power vibes to start the new week with 🌼🌺🌸⁣ ⁣ I had 2 x 1.5m pieces of this stunning fabric, and thought this would the the perfect time to try out the Seachange jumpsuit/romper pattern on myself (I’d sewn it previously for my daughter). ⁣ ⁣ It was so much fun to twin with her!!! What a beautiful day for a visit to our local national trust @mottisfontnt and a picnic to celebrate mums birthday. I made this Seachange Jumpsuit from @patternemporium_kate last year in a gorgeous @lisetailor viscose from last Junes Luxury box. This was its first outing of the year and although I love it I definitely want to make some changes with my next version, such as changing the back opening with hook and eye to poppers on the front straps which will make getting it on and off a lot easier. My love for the SeaChange jumpsuit by @patternemporium_kate continues with this absolute beaut I made from the Lady McElroy linen chambray in August's Luxury SHJ box. I've been wearing it through the summer paired with an @annaallenclothing Anthea Blouse in the lightest cotton I picked up from the @fabricgodmother stall at the Stitch Festival. Now we've moved into autumn I'm wearing it with a RTW mustard roll neck and leggings or tights underneath (those wide legs are breezy!!!) Which do you prefer, summer or autumn? Septembers Luxury Box fabric was this absolutely beautiful "Floral River" viscose challis from Lady McElroy which I sewed up into one of my favourite patterns, the SeaChange Jumpsuit from @patternemporium_kate. This is the third one I have made, it's just so easy to wear and although it's more of a summer pattern I personally think it looks great layered up for the autumn - I've since bought an orange roll neck to go under this which look amazing!
