I am usually the one behind the camera, but this time I wanted a pretty dress for myself. I couldn’t find a RTW dress that I liked and fit well. This dress is what I have been looking for but so much better. Today I am spotlighting this beautiful green Airflow fabric for @raspberrycreekfabrics for Christmas, but I will be wearing it all year long. This was my first attempt at “dopamine” dressing. I made this almost 2 years ago to the day. I was sitting in the @spotlightstores car park when I got some rotten news. I walked in and saw the rainbow leopard fabric… immediately visualising it in a @patternemporium_kate #meetyoutheredress. The pink is quilting cotton (but the best match of all the links I tried!!!) and the black is a rayon linen, both from Spotlight. This dress made me so happy to make, and even though it’s too big now, makes my heart happy every time I wear it!

Well the dress was a hit! My beautiful sister gave me this vintage sheet she just loved. She wasn’t sure what to do with it, but knew it could be fun and fit with her style. Way too many months later I finally finished it! This one was an adventure 😆 Roomie mistake not checking the test square measurements, so I made the dress too big. That meant I needed to unpick the bodice and adjust its size. Small setback, but got there in the end. I will take it out for a test run tomorrow and see how it fairs in the classroom 🦖 🐸

This is my third @patternemporium_kate #meetyoutheredress I still haven't gotten around to taking photos of the first one. 🤣 This one still has the tiers shortened by 1.5cm each and I also lopped off 11cm of the sleeves so I have regular, short sleeves. They do stick out a bit, but it doesn't bother me, I have great range of movement in them and they're comfy. I also managed to successfully pattern match for the first time! My fabric wasn't wide enough to cut the second tier on the fold, so I cut it in two pieces. Finally, fabric is a cotton poplin from @spotlightstores designed by @elliewhittakerstudio

I really struggled to decide on a pattern with this fun green seersucker gingham. I considered a Helens Closet March dress, a Friday Pattern Company Wilder Gown, and settled on a Pattern Emporium Meet You There dress. I'm still not certain that I made the right choice. However, it's done now.  Details Pattern - Meet You There dress by @patternemporium_kate Sizes (AU) 4-30. Upper bust 73-135cm (28-53"). My final make for 2023 was the Meet You There Dress by Pattern Emporium. I have wanted to make the sleeveless three tier version since I bought this pattern, several years ago, and I am so happy with it. It is not perfect. I think the bodice is a bit big and I still have loads of gathering threads to remove but I am so happy with it. I had intended to finish this dress in time to take with me when we went to see my family for Christmas, but I ran out of time and it wasn't needed, as it rained so much! Luckily we have a few hot days coming up so it will definitely be worn. Floaty viscose dress started at this mornings #sewvirtual done and finished later the same day. The pattern is the #MeetYouThereDress by @PatternEmporium_kate. My usual Pattern Emporium size is 12 but I sized down knowing the dress was oversized and I wanted it more closely fitting. I part lined the bodice using the burrito method so didn’t need to use any binding and I lengthened the bodice by one inch and lengthened each tier by an inch too. Today was 30 degrees in Brisbane and I was so excited to wear my latest Meet You There Dress to the office. The fabric is a thrifted double bed doona cover in a cotton polyester blend. I was inspired by @kaleidoscopekatie_ and @cotton_and_quirk for this upcycle who have both made beautiful creations from the same thrifted doona cover. The doona cover cost me $8 and I've still got the other side to use which is a different print 😄 Details: straight size 14 with no mods. I cut a long 1st tier and short tiers for the 2nd and 3rd. This beautiful Holly Sanders "women on country" is my all time favourite material. A beautiful blend of colours that suit me with vibrant and meaningful artwork. My final make for 2023 was the Meet You There Dress by Pattern Emporium. I have wanted to make the sleeveless three tier version since I bought this pattern, several years ago, and I am so happy with it. It is not perfect. I think the bodice is a bit big and I still have loads of gathering threads to remove but I am so happy with it. I had intended to finish this dress in time to take with me when we went to see my family for Christmas, but I ran out of time and it wasn't needed, as it rained so much! Luckily we have a few hot days coming up so it will definitely be worn. This is what I had originally planned for my birthday dress. I was so on top of thing! I cut it in April, but then I was dissuaded because the weather turned so constantly grey and chilly. Lo and behold, the actual weekend was a random hot spot in May and I was wholly unprepared. 😂 I finally sat down to pick this up and finish, and it's such a delight! I skipped the back yoke and extended tiers 1 and 2 (splitting the yard length) to make this nearly a maxi since I had three colors instead of four for 3 tiers as designed.
