My new obsession is spending time rummaging through fabric at the op shops (aka thrift shop), and I have to say I have found some absolutely amazing things recently. Exhibit A . . . this knit fabric! The pattern and colour jumped out at me instantly and I knew that although it was a small piece that had already been cut into, there was surely enough to make something. For $2.99 I was prepared to take the gamble anyway! I ended up using the @patternemporium_kate #pesweetcheekssweater pattern - I had purchased this a while back but never had gotten around to making it (I have a lot of patterns like that, don’t judge me😬). I fell into the sizing of a 10 however made a 12 as I wanted a more oversized feel and glad I went in that direction. @patternemporium_kate patterns come with so many options so I went with the v neck, cropped version, and used black rib knit from my stash for the contrast bands. Why did I never share pics of this sweater? It’s no secret that I cherish my hand knitted sweaters, but there’s something to be said for sweater knits and the ability to sew them into a cute cozy sweater in just a few hours (vs days/months and the many many hours put in to hand knitting). Plus, if you’re a knitter, can you even imagine how much yarn a double layered cowl knit would eat up? Sewing a sweater obviously has its advantages and I’ve come to love @patternemporium_kate Sweet Cheeks Sweater. This pattern has so many options, it can absolutely be overwhelming. But once you get past that, it’s basically an all in one pattern for any oversized sweater you could dream up. If you go back in my feed a little, you’ll see a mustard v-neck top which is made from the same pattern. I used the Cloud Sweater Knit from @surgefabricshop. This color is sold out, but there is a warmer beige option available. After many months, I have finally finished a #sewtogether22 project. It is the Pattern Emporium #sweetcheekssweater Made with a sweater knit from #fabricmartmake . The instructions were great and a tutorial on YouTube was excellent. It looks better than my picture taking can convey! I managed to take a photo with the shower nozzle sticking out of my head 😂. I have been meaning to share pics of this make for a long time. I actually photographed this a while back, but didn’t like the shadows that were casted by taking photos indoors. When I was deciding what to wear today, I knew a happy pop of pink was in order to lift my spirits and put a little pep in my step. I paired it with a recent-ish sewn make of mine, the @patternemporium_kate #sweetcheekssweater in the mustard Almafi Rib Knit from @surgefabricshop. It’s worked wonders. And that is one of the many joys making brings me! This was a fun summer knit for me. A simple project to carry with me as the kids played in the pool or at the park. #memademay Day 25 This has been on my ‘To Do’ list for ages but V necks scare me so I kept putting it off…… I honestly can’t remember if I’ve ever done a v-neck….. I’m not sure I chose the best fabric for a first attempt but thought this flocked animal print scuba would look great as a Sweet Cheeks sweater. My V ended up being about 1mm out so I’m kinda disappointed but kinda pleased too, especially given the thickness of the scuba On the plus side it gives me the perfect excuse to make another one on different fabric and even try another v neck pattern.
