Not a Me Made May post, it’s way to cold for this outfit right now… I’ve wanted to make shirt dress for a while but it took me some time to find a pattern and fabric combination that felt right. When I found this vintage cotton poplin at @emilixfabrics it screamed shirt dress at me! And the #peallinshirt with camp collar was a perfect match. I found the perfect vintage buttons in a bag I got from Tant Kofta. Very pleased with the result! The fabric is crisp with a bit of body, which makes the back pouf out a bit because of the box pleat. I made a simple tie belt to fix that. The light parts of the fabric are slightly see through, so I made some nude underwear to fix that… #dulciebriefs #gocami #sewover50

Finally got some photos wearing my latest make, the #peallinshirt from @patternemporium_kate, made in cotton voile from @wearethefabricstore. It's a classic shirt pattern that comes together beautifully, thanks to extremely comprehensive instructions. There are several options and I chose to make mine with a plain collar (no stand), long sleeve with button up cuff and inverted pleat. When you find your style roll with it! Chloe is definitely in a skort + Docs kind of phase and I’m happy to contribute 🙌🏼 This outfit was actually inspired by the top fabric. It’s part of the Styled Magnolia’s Winter Round and I immediately knew it had to be a button up. I mean, look at how perfectly those stripes cross the body🦌 ❄️ 🦌 The skirt is a bit shorter as it is intended to be worn with tights or leggings underneath in cooler weather. ✂️Fabric is called Reindeer Crossing on Luxury Cotton. I love this elegant version of winter stripes. ✂️Top is All In Easy Fit Shirt by Pattern Emporium. I added sleeve cuffs to the short (less fullness) sleeve and love the sharp look of the sleeve. This is officially my new favourite fabric, it’s bamboo cotton velvet towelling from @minervadotcom it was gifted in exchange for a blog post, trust me it’s soooo lovely to wear. In a remarkable confluence of events, the completion of my latest project was timed perfectly with the start of #memademay2025 AND an in-office work day. (It's a very casual office.) This Pattern Emporium #peallinshirt was sort of a wearable toile using up some scaps and short bolt-ends of Fablism cottons. I really didn't intend for it to come out looking like some kind of retro bowling shirt but I fear that it did. I don't know how I feel about that. This also crosses off one of my make 9 projects for the year. I had planned on a different short sleeve camp collar shirt, but realized that it was silly to purchase another pattern when this one has so many options for modifying. (I bought it a few months back to make a flannel shirt which I have still not made.) I'm not quite sure what to make of the fit, to be honest. At first I thought maybe I need a broad upper back adjustment. Looking at the back view now I'm not so sure. The only thing I could say for sure is that I might add a smidgen of ease at the bottom to accommodate my plush rear. Anyway, that's what I have for Day 1. I won't be an every day poster because once we start talking work from home days no one needs to see the repetition. Jessica always has great instructions, making it a pleasure to use her patterns. I'll be making the full length trouser hopefully before my trip in September. The #lagotank a free pattern by @itchtostitch this is my 3rd. In a knit from @joann_stores and the hacked #PEallinshirt (I straightened the hem and side seams to make it more campy)by @patternemporium_kate . Fabric was an impulse buy from an eBay seller it's a double guaze. Next, my second pair of #easaturdayshorts by @endersallsews these are great shorts with lots of hack possibilities. I'll be making these again as a hiking shorts hack alla @madeby_francesca. I made these in a slightly stretchy denim from @joann_stores, inspired by a recent post of Alyx's own denim Saturday shorts. Floral Print Cotton Lawn All in Easy Fit Shirt no 8. There is not a lot more that I can say about this pattern other than it is definitely my 'go to' for a shirt! This version was made using 2 metres of 150cms wide cotton lawn at a cost of £8.30 (plus p&p) bought from Amo Threads - a new supplier for me. As before I used the size 18 with a full bust adjustment and shortened length by 2½ inches at back, 2 inches at the front so cutting out took just 1.10 metres leaving me a good-sized remnant for other projects. Both collar sections were interfaced and I cut two yoke pattern pieces so that I could Burrito the yoke. The fabric is lightweight and I could have used French seams but opted for the speed of the overlocker instead. I used 7 faux tortoiseshell buttons from my stash and by the end of the afternoon I had another new shirt! Conclusion: This shirt has several colours that will co-ordinate with my new capsule Autumn (and Spring) wardrobe, especially the Cable Ponte Roma cardigans that I have planned.
