I found a linen curtain panel on clearance in a terrible beige color (but clearance!!), so used it as a muslin for this Coastal Side Split Skirt pattern. Me Made May 2024 Day 11 and this is a co-ord mix that I made using 2 patterns from @patternemporium_kate The top is the #riseandshinetop pattern and I made the cropped length with a high neck. I also added a centre back seam so that I could have a button and loop closure at the back of the neck. This was just optional though, as you can easily get this top over your head without the closure. I also made the #pecoastalskirt (Coastal Side Split Skirt). I chose the mid length version without pockets and also made the waistline flat at the front and elasticated at the sides and back. The waistline option was to sit on my natural waist position with an encased channel for the elastic. The material is a cotton sateen that I purchased from @exeterfabriccentre In fact I first saw this fabric there last summer and have my eye on it since then. So when I saw there was still some there a few weeks ago, I succumbed and bought it specifically to make the skirt. It wasn't too cold and it wasn't raining, so I finally took some pictures of the pieces I already made for my winter capsule! This Canadian Tuxedo-Skirt Edition is very inspired by a full denim ensemble I saw on @happykickss account. I was wondering if this darker wash would work for the denim on denim trend, and once I saw it there (I'll see if I can share the inspiration in my stories), I knew the answer was yes! This light to medium weight denim is from my deep dark stash, so ancient it's origins are unknown. I used the Pattern Emporium Coastal Side Split Skirt and Ocean Daze Very Oversized Shirt patterns to make it and I have been wearing these pieces non-stop, together and mixed with other ones you'll see in the coming days. The shirt is a size 20 and the skirt is size 22 with the slit slightly lowered. I'm happy to report I think both pieces are perfect for maternity and post-partum with no modifications. Catching up with some more makes from last year. I made another Coastal Side Split Skirt and this time matched it with a Low Key Cami (both patterns from Pattern Emporium) … enter faux dress!! I love how this skirt is so comfy to wear and is such and easy and quick sew. The fabric is a rayon from Spotlight and seemingly a rather popular print as I have seen a few makes on the grid with it. The detailed instructions in the pattern (beyond excellent, as with all PE patterns), made sewing the skirt a breeze. I’ve never had such neat mitred corners!! This is my first time sewing the Low Key Cami and again it is just such an excellent pattern. There are a number of options for neckline, length and strap width, but for this top I chose the high squared front and the squared back. I will be making many more of these tops. It’s the perfect mix n’ match outfit … here shown as a faux dress, but if you swipe ➡️ you will see it with a couple of different tops (Your Truly Flounce Top …. also from Pattern Emporium), which change up the outfit quite a bit. My second version of the very gorgeous Be Mine blouse from @patternemporium_kate. It's just a stunning design. I paired it with my Coastal Side Split Skirt. I skipped the back center seam and used the lowest of three necklines for this one. I was happy to pull this yardage from the special pile and us it up! This is a cotton sateen, very lightweight voile-like fabric, only 44" wide. I was able to get this blouse from 2 yards, but the back hem facing is cut opposite the grain. Shh. Yesterday was a day of 2 tops… I had this super drapey (but with a bit of body) rayon knit from @dressew for a few years. It became a fabric I was afraid to cut into because once I did - no other possibilities remain 🤦‍♀️ Finally making the very close to the same colour corduroy up into an #S2443 jacket gave me the impetus to finally cut into this fabric. I had enough to make a short sleeved #NikkoTop and an #EightTee I’ve used both of these patterns before and it’s fun having 2 completely different looks in the same fabric and colour. So, the sun came out and out I went - scowling (unfortunately) to show off some recent makes 😆 (Totally annoying side fact: my remote shutter won’t work so these were all counting down with the timer. I've had this vision in my mind forever of a low-contrast colorblocked skirt, and I think this turned out really nicely! My only minor alteration was to split the waistband into two (and add seam allowance) so that the band matched the skirt panels. No side splits at this length & simply just a matter of choosing my desired finished length & adding a hem allowance. . Catching up with some more makes from last year. I made another Coastal Side Split Skirt and this time matched it with a Low Key Cami (both patterns from Pattern Emporium) … enter faux dress!! I love how this skirt is so comfy to wear and is such and easy and quick sew. The fabric is a rayon from Spotlight and seemingly a rather popular print as I have seen a few makes on the grid with it. The detailed instructions in the pattern (beyond excellent, as with all PE patterns), made sewing the skirt a breeze. I’ve never had such neat mitred corners!! This is my first time sewing the Low Key Cami and again it is just such an excellent pattern. There are a number of options for neckline, length and strap width, but for this top I chose the high squared front and the squared back. I will be making many more of these tops. It’s the perfect mix n’ match outfit … here shown as a faux dress, but if you swipe ➡️ you will see it with a couple of different tops (Your Truly Flounce Top …. also from Pattern Emporium), which change up the outfit quite a bit. I just love how Kate’s patterns come together so easily, are so on trend and look so fabulous. 💙💚 I made two skirts, so here is my first Coastal Side Split Skirt, made in a very ‘slippery’ rayon challis fabric from Lush. It is super comfortable to wear, an easy and quick to sew, and as always with PE patterns, the detailed instructions make sewing it a breeze … I’ve never tried mitred corners before, but am so happy with how great they look … and did I say easy to do? The skirt features double fold hems, mitred corners, large cargo pockets, high or low waistline, elastic or yoga waistband, and midi or ankle length. This version is the high waist, midi length, with a 5cm wide elastic waistband … and huge cargo pockets!!!! We are currently on a bit of a beach vacay away and my skirt is getting a good workout. My second version of the very gorgeous Be Mine blouse from @patternemporium_kate. It's just a stunning design. I paired it with my Coastal Side Split Skirt. I skipped the back center seam and used the lowest of three necklines for this one. I was happy to pull this yardage from the special pile and us it up! This is a cotton sateen, very lightweight voile-like fabric, only 44" wide. I was able to get this blouse from 2 yards, but the back hem facing is cut opposite the grain. Shh.
