Release day!! @patternemporium_kate long weekend tank dress! I made two of these during testing and if it wasn’t cold right now I would have made a ton more! This is a fitted but not tight tank dress with wide binding and cute skirt slits. Both mine were dbp but the print was thicker and I love the way it hugs but doesn’t cling ! Me Made May: week one I wasn’t sure if I was going to participate in #memademay2025 since I broke my wrist and had to have surgery just prior to it starting. All I wanted to wear was joggers and giant tops… none of which were #memade But I guess that’s the challenge isn’t it…. Aim to wear me made when you can. So here’s my first week offering. Just finished my third #PELongWeekendTankDress! 👗💖 Initially, this was the type of fabric I had envisioned for a tank dress like this, but I got side-tracked with my two other dresses (oops! 🤪) …. see previous posts. It’s so great to be able to sew your own clothes, especially when store-bought tank dresses don’t quite fit right. 🧵💁‍♀️   I learned some lessons along the way with this one – fabrics behave differently! Check out my pattern notes below for the details. Despite the effort, I’m happy with the final result. Next time, maybe a less fitted pattern for this fabric! 😊   Pattern: #PELongWeekendDress from @PatternEmporium_Kate Fabric: Minerva Core Range Organic Tubular Ribbing Stretch Knit Fabric from @MinervaDotCom   Pattern notes: * Used tubular ribbing from @MinervaDotCom (cotton elastane – OEKO-TEX, GOTS certified) with good horizontal stretch, but only 20% vertical stretch. * Graded from size 10 bodice to size 12 hips, but the limited vertical stretch caused pulling over hips and butt. * 7mm seam allowance worked well for serging but tricky for sizing adjustments. Used sewing machine with a scant 3-4mm seam allowance for a bit more room. Eek!! * Back has 2 pattern pieces, easy for shaping. Did a 2.5cm sway back; considered darts but skipped. Looked OK. * Neck and arm bindings were perfect, thanks to ribbing’s properties. * Happy with the dress, but won’t use cotton rib knit in this weight for this style again. The pattern calls for a more drapey fabric. ✨LONG WEEKEND TANK DRESS ✨   I have searched for the perfect tank dress for a while with no luck. Attempted pattern mashing but wasn’t a fan. Then, Pattern Emporium released the “Long Weekend Dress” It was exactly what I was looking for. Happy dance followed when I saw it! 💃 This is the first of three dresses I made during testing, and I absolutely love it! I had concerns about the fit due to my varying sizes between bust and hips, however with Kate’s excellent instructions, it was easy to make it work. That’s the beauty of sewing for yourself, right?

The pattern booklet is next level!!! Clear instruction with loads of pictures, tips, hints and tricks. There’s a whole section on adjustments and there’s even a video to show you how to do the wide binding. So easy!! And the PE Facebook page offers a HUGE amount of support.   The dress suits a 4-way stretch knit fabric and this fabric from Minerva just worked perfectly!!!  💖

Pattern notes: 
* Graded from size 10 to size 12 at hips. The fabric had good 4-way stretch so I didn’t feel it necessary to grade to my usual size 14. It accommodated my curves easily ☺️ * 1.5cm sway back adjustment. The back has two pieces, joining at the waist, so adjustments were easy to do

How amazing is this fabric from @wattlehillfabrics? 🌺🌸 This is the newly released Long Weekend Dress from Pattern Emporium. The fabric is a cotton jersey (similar to a cotton Lycra), so unlike the last dress (see previous post), it has a bit more structure than the viscose jersey. I graded out two sizes at the hip for this dress to compensate, and did a 1.5cm sway back. I just LOVE this dress 🌺🌸 and can’t rate Pattern Emporium patterns highly enough. Their instructions are impeccable and the support they offer is fantastic. First time using a @patternemporium_kate pattern and very impressed! This is the ‘Long weekend’ tank dress in a @doopsdesigns fabric. I cut out the size 12 and ended up taking it in a little around the hips.
