I've been a bit slow in making Clergy wear as I have been making everyday clothes. Very pleased with this new clerical outfit I've made this week. It is good to slow down and focus on the details. I am attending the Christian Aid service next Thursday at Westminster Abbey so want something special to wear.

This little #DownTownJacket by @patternemporium_kate is the cutest jacket and I love it. I think it adds abit of style to my recent @stylearc #IrisWovenDress worn as a two piece. Is there anything that doesn't go with my @forest.and.thread #justmyluckjeans - I think not. Wearing my @patternemporium_kate #DownTownJacket with them today, I like that, because this is made using a cotton poplin, it feels like I can wear it as a blouse. I can't decide if it's the style of these jeans that makes them go with so many things and makes me want to wear them all the time or the colour grey, probably a combination of both. I started invisiline straightening treatment on my teeth yesterday, I don't normally like showing my face so closely on a pic 😅 you can see all the bits I would rather you didn't 🫣 but my smile might look odd for a while, it certainly feels odd and quite uncomfortable, my teeth used to be straight and lovely but they have started to overlap and seem to be getting worse so I thought what the heck, teeth are important to me and I don't like how they are looking. This is the new Downtown Jacket from @patternemporium_kate #pedowntownjacket This pattern work beautifully with denim. I as super impressed with how professional my finished jacket is. I have made a straight size 12, regular fit. One of my favourite parts of the pattern are the sleeves, they are two piece with a funky wide cuff. Roomy without being overly wide. I hate tight sleeves and it happens so often on me. I must admit that usually I do faux buttons (buttons but no holes). The jacket is such a masterpiece it deserved my additional effort on button holes, so it is fully functional. Another fantastic @patternemporium_kate #make! This is the new #pedowntownjacket in a periwinkle twill that I found in my #toile fabric box. Truth be told, I think I bought the fabric at a garage sale. 😳. I wanted to try this pattern and loved this colour, so why not! What’s the worst that could happen? This is the standard #pedowntownjacket (not the roomy fit), length 2 and I did the slits at the side with 3 buttons on each cuff. I am really excited about this #make. I made a size 18 with the following modifications ( I am 5’10”): 🧵tapered to 16 hip - maybe could go to a 14. 🧵lengthened the ‘length 2’ jacket style by 3” #tallsewist 🧵lengthened the sleeves by 2” #tallsewing #tallsewingproblems The sleeves are perfect! 🧵3/4” high round back adjustment 🧵 1/2” forward shoulder adjustment ❎ I should have done a small bicep adjustnent. The sleeves are meant to be roomy, but there’s a teeny bit too much fabric in the upper arm for me. Next time! And there will be a next time. Posting this a little late It's been an opus, Everest from the get go... One of those projects that gets hung in the back of the closet hoping it would just disappear. This originally started out as the #archiewovenshirt #stylearc sometime 2022/23??? But....➡️➡️➡️➡️➡️ It was a disaster from the start It was a remnant piece of white linen (don't like wearing linen... Hate ironing anything after I sew it up) Added prob 2"-2½" inches??? #sewingtall can't remember exactly. Was all going great, cut it out. Started sewing.... And the back just would not fit into the back bodice. Couldn't figure it out. Why did my piece need a pleat when no one's else on Instagram did. Style arc gahhh Got sooooo pissed sent a nasty email about their crappy pattern design. The next day I noticed an email in the early morning. "Might you have attempted to attach the back to the bodice UPSIDE DOWN???" WHAT??? AS-IF...I think it might have been around 5am. I was outraged... No way!!!! Yes way.. Rockie mistake. Screwed. Added inches to the wrong side No fabric left had to improvise with the lace. Never liked the fit Downloaded the #pedowntownjacket and unpicked everything but the front zip, recut the discarded Archie woven style arc, into the #downtownjacket Changed the sleeves to a knit piece of scrap, changed the collar to just the collar stand to match the sleeves. Only thing I had in the stash remotely worthwhile. It helped to fit and sew it on that the fabric on the collar stand was a knit. I'm surprised how fast it came together. It was one of those #sewingroommiracles And VIOLA it's a wearable topper. I admit it's a little weird. But I have worn it out. Once. It even survived a outdoor potluck without getting destroyed with various foodstuff. White after all and me don't REALLY get along. Oh hi!! It has been a long while since I’ve had anything sewing to share here. I finished a degree I’d been working on for seven years in late 2023, and needed a very long rest after that! For the last few months I’ve been busy starting up my own business and transitioning into my new career and my sewing room was left gathering dust. Hello strangers. Long time no post! Ive been doing lots of bits and pieces sewing of late, and not much worth sharing, but I have to say I’m pretty pleased with this @patternemporium_kate Down Town Jacket, made to go over my 3/4 length #patternemporium Palazzo pants. I’m not going to lie.. I’m super pleased with how this cropped little jacket has turned out. Even my top stitching cooperated. 🤣🤣. The instructions are forensically detailed and I Followed. Every. Step. Usually I don’t even really read the instructions but in my defence, I have been sewing for approximately 100 years, so I’ve had plenty of practice. These instructions are second to none. This is a straight size 14, no changes, and I didn’t even make a muslin! Come for me sewing police - I don’t even care. Full disclosure - I did some pretty comprehensive measuring of myself and the pattern before cutting anything, so I was pretty confident. Animal print for the win! Downtown Jacket by @patternemporium_kate in a lightweight 142gsm cotton corduroy. Because animal print is life! Again in size 20 with FBA, this is the Regular Fit option in length 3 (5cm added for my 176cm tall self), long cuffed 2 piece sleeve, side splits, pleat back, single breast pocket and faux button up (buttons but no buttonholes). This is a great light (yet crisp and full bodied) layering piece in this fabric, just beware it’s grippiness! Perfect popped on over a tank or cami like the PE Hugs and Kisses Cami pictured. Here's my second @patternemporium_kate Downtown Jacket.🌆 I kept this one so super simple! No buttons or closures (and the cuffs still sit beautifully on their own). I wanted the most basic and classy throw-on-over-a-dress little number that still has lots of chic style. Perfect use of chambray, if I do say. This is the regular fit in the hip length with long cuffed sleeve and a split back. The pockets are practically invisible, but there if you squint. Buttons or no Buttons? Had some of this gorgeous cotton poplin leftover from the Iris Woven Dress I made so thought I would have ago at the recently released @patternemporium_kate Downtown Jacket. This is the short boxy length with pleated back and short sleeves. Just can't decide on whether I need buttons or will I always wear it open, however I quite like these white buttons I found in my box, I think they add to the retro look - what do you think? I managed to start this jacket a few days before we went away to the Lake District but didn't have time to share my #waiwot so here it is. I love my flower power @patternemporium_kate Downtown Jacket so much I needed to try the long sleeve version using this faux suede from my stash. In my rush to try and get it done for my mini break, which didn't happen due to me making an error which led to the following cunning plan, I made a booboo when cutting out and forgot to fold the pocket pattern piece up for the shorter length more suited to the cropped version. When I had sewn them on I noticed they were closer to the bottom of the jacket, scroll through to see the comparison of my flower version. I suddenly had some rather long statement pockets which was ok but then I had the idea of running with them and making them even more of a statement. I drew this design on the bottom with a frixion pen and used the triple stitch to match the top stitching in other places. It doesn't matter that the stitching goes through to the jacket as the top of the fancy part is now the bottom of the pocket where it should have been so room enough to use if I want to. I really like this happy design accident. This version has the topstitched centre back seam instead of the pleat on my 1st version. I found perfect buttons in my button box and my machine was in a good mood this time and sewn perfect buttonholes and topstitching, I think it appreciated how lovely this fabric is to sew and shared my joy of working with it. Just need to wait for my local shop to open on Thurs so I can get more cotton for more topstitching to carry on with it, I have a good feeling I'm going to love this little jacket. A catch-up on my progress with the 2nd @patternemporium_kate #DowntownJacket. This time, I used a faux suede for the cropped version with sleeves and a center back seam. 🤎🤎🤎 There is a lot to love about this jacket. 🤎🤎🤎 My happy accident on the pockets, which led to some fancy top stitching (see a previous post) has led to more fancy stuff on the collar points and cuffs. I really like these wide cuffs. I wish I had made them 1/2 - 3/4 inch longer though 😕 I love how the top stitching and seams on the different pattern pieces link together, which gives a pleasing flow around the jacket. This fabric is wonderful to work with, but I found the seams don't want to lie flat. I didn't want to top stitch the side seams down, so I used some hem tape that is fusible on both sides. I folded it in half, then pressed the side seams down over it, which makes them lie nice and flat and keeps them in place (last 3 pics). I've never done this before, so I'm interested to see how they pass the test of time. From old Ikea curtain to a new jacket 🥼 This is my entry to the fabulous #sewupcycle24 challenge hosted by Karen @sew.little.time & Becky @notes_from_the_sewing_room I've had this red curtain from Ikea for about 20 years, so it was well past time that it found another life. This is the #downtown jacket by @patternemporium, and it's just lovely. It was my first time making a jacket, and the instructions were fabulous. It is really detailed, and the pattern is drafted perfectly. It came together really easily, even the buttonholes worked. My favourite feature has to be the cuffs. Details ⬇️ Pattern: #pedowntownjacket from @@patternemporium_kate Fabric: An old ikea curtain from the early 2000s. Contrast details are from an Ikea tablecloth that I had in my stash. Yet another lovely label from @@sewanonymousofficial and gorgeous buttons from my local @sewandsostroud Sizing and Adjustments✂️ I made a size 12 at neck and upper bust grading to a 14 at the hips. This is the regular fit, with side slits and topstitched back. Length 2 which hits at mid hip. The only change I made was to shorten the pockets and attach them lower down as I didn't like them over the bust. Construction 🪡 It came together beautifully, and I loved the process of sewing it up. This fabric was so easy to sew with. Final Thoughts 🤔 I love this and will definitely make another as I think you'd get a very different look with different fabrics. I love it even more since it cost me virtually nothing apart from the thread and buttons. #sewover50october24

Me and my wardrobe have been getting to know this cute faux suede #DowntownJacket and it's no surprise to me that a strong bond has occurred. What is surprising though is how different a pattern can look and feel depending on which variations of the pattern you choose and fabric choice (see last photo). I think this is worth a last minute entry into #MagamSurpriseSeptember hosted by @sewing_in_spain @suestoney and @stash_hub I haven't finished with this pattern by @patternemporium_kate as there are numerous variations which change the look to it and I really want a longer version now. I'm also entering it into #2fromstashamonth hosted by @salixsews and @septemberfaden this lovely fabric has been with me for a good few years and I have to say it has been so wonderful to work with, now I'm feeling happy as I also purchased it in a pale blue because at the time I couldn't decide which one I preferred. My OOTD for #MeMadeMay25 was a baggy affair and changed throughout the day as we went from dull to downright cold, popping into town and then alot later...who turned the heating up 🔥🌞☀️ Wearing my @patternemporium_kate Vacation Vibes Palazzo Pants which I remade in a peach skin I spotted on the market with no faults like the last pair, using the altered patterns pieces, similar colour to my toile but nicer fabric. Paired it with a @sewoveritlondon Libby shirt, love this little shirt so much, rtw cardi when I started to shiver and #PatternEmporium Downtown Jacket for out and about. Then it went hot late in the day so changed into some rtw shorts. Popped into @sewjoyful_uk for some cotton yarn as I've started another Punch needle picture inspired by one of the inches I painted, experimenting here with my new hobby so it may not turn out. I like the loopy side but forgot that the picture will end up opposite to how I wanted, that's ok though, I will remember next time to mirror image it. Sneeky peek at something I've been working on for the last week or so, added some machine and hand embroidery, finished it today, it is adorable @yuki_wafflepatterns I think you can guess what it is 😉 but here's a clue 🐳🐋 I love it, not at all practical if you are carrying the crown jewels but who cares when cuteness is this good. Will post tomorrow. Hubby has declared war on the pigeons and these flowers caught my eye in the garden.
