My most recent sew, the Sweet Talker Bubble Sleeve Top worn with a Clo Bias Skirt of course! ————————————————————— Pattern : #pesweettalkertop (version - narrow/mid neckline, above elbow sleeve & short length) by @patternemporium_kate Fit: this is a size 8 as per measurements with a teensy square shoulder adjustment & shortened by 5 cm. This pattern has lots of options and beautiful drafting, there’s four neckline options, three sleeve lengths, multiple bodice lengths as well as three front bodices- two have bust adjustments done for you. The neckline bias is drafted for each size with side seams and CF & CB marked on it to ensure it fits perfectly and I love the technique used for applying it. The sleeves are constructed with a sleeve facing (lining) which is shorter in length, the elastic is sewn to the facing so when you match up the sleeve heads it creates a lovely balloon shape to the bottom of the sleeve. Fabric: white double gauze from deep stash, originally from @spotlightstores I chose this fabric because I predict the sleeves will be difficult to iron, so this will be wash and wear crinkly 😂 Styling: worn with a #clobiasskirt by @ softenstudio (size 8 midi length) in the show stopping fabric called Marrakesh purchased from @tessutifabrics I get a lot of compliments whenever I wear this skirt. A couple of the ladies at lunch have meterage of this in their stash. It’s no secret I’ve got a thing for bias skirts at the moment. After making multiple elastic waist versions, I decided to try one with a waistband & invisible zip for a change, enter the Lulee Skirt. The shape is a bit different to the Clo Bias Skirt, straighter through the sides and fuller & flutier around the hem. On my body, I think I prefer the gentle A line shape of the Clo & I cut it a bit shorter than my usual length 🙈 which might be why I’m a bit ‘meh’ The past year has been the year of the skirt for me, I like being able to add a different top for a whole new look, gives me more options than a dress. I may have 100% been influenced to make this top by @fergandstitch. I was resisting the release of the #pesweettalker until I'd seen her version and then I caved. These sleeves though. 😍 They come in three lengths and I chose the mid length. I used a gorgeous pumpkin colored linen viscose from @joann_stores and I just adore how this top came out! Because I knew I wanted the shortest length option and the mid-sleeves, I was able to get this cut out of about one and a half yards of fabric. I bought two, but I have a bit left over. I did line the sleeves with a cotton voile instead of self fabric though. My Sweet Talking Scorpio Setacular Two new to me patterns and both winners that will absolutely be made again. The top is the #pesweettalker by @patternemporium_kate This was my first #patternemporium make (I’ve since made two more), and I was impressed by how easily that bubble hem sewed up. Each Pattern Emporium pattern is a bit of a choose your own adventure - for this you can choose, high, mid (narrow or wide) or low neckline, 3 lengths, elastic hem hack and 3 sleeve lengths. I chose high neck, short sleeves and the shortest length. The shorts are the #voguepatterns #v2014 and these are perfection. They’re not a quick sew, but for some reason I love a full bells and whistles kind of pant - pleats, welt pocket, zip, extra button, you name it, this pattern has it. And because of that, these feel elevated and stylish - and they’re worth the time and effort! I’ve left them at a Bermuda short length but with a deep enough hem I can cuff them if I’m not vibing that length next summer. Modifications: 🪡 shortened the shortest length of the top by an additional 2” 🪡 minor straight shoulder adjustment (increased SA to 1.5cm at neck tapering to 1cm at shoulder) 🪡 1.5cm SA at side seams. 🪡 nil changes to the shorts. Perfect fit. 12/10 will make both again and high recommend. Made another Sweet Talker bubble sleeve top today from #patternemporium @thestaffordshiresewcial made in a @ladymcelroyfabrics cotton lawn and I love it made a size 8 but this time used the bubble sleeves from Tilly and the Buttons Nell dress #sewingnell and I’m much happier with the finished look and feel. Convinced that this length and puffiness won’t cause me to dip my sleeves into the soupy steamboat pot, I cut into my precious Atelier Brunette stash 😂 This second sleeves yielded a softer bubble, very romantic and dreamy vibes! Gorgeous, no? 😍 . Same size 8, no mods, just the perfect ease. Oh, this one I made a narrow mid neckline, compared with the one in seersucker which is wide mid neck. Subtle difference in look, but a distinct feel for me when worn - less feeling like bra straps are showing. . Oh hi, Sweet Talker Bubble Sleeve Top. The newest pattern from @patternemporium_kate gets all the heart eyes. You know I love a statement sleeve and this bubble sleeve is divine. The brown top is a mystery fabric from my stash. Some sort of silky feeling polyester is my guess. I made the mid neck line with the elbow sleeve. I used 100% cotton for the sleeve facing to give the sleeve more structure. The floral top is cotton linen from @spotlightstores in the shorter sleeve length. Multiple necklines finished with a clean binding, three sleeve and body lengths and FBA pieces included. Second make of 2025 finished. A cute top made from the same fabric as the Abbey shirt. The lovely crinkled cotton from @pa_skra with a great body for great puffy sleeves. I have a small bit left of the fabric but I have a plan for that too. The pattern is from Pattern Emoorium, a new acquaintance for me. Liked the pattern and instructions was great. Only comment is I think perhaps the fba version would have been good also for when upper bust and full bust only differs one size which is the case for me. Or perhaps I should just have chosen the longest version? This is length 2. On with playing with more substrates for the Sweet Talker Bubble Sleeve Top from @patternemporium_kate . This time I tried the linen with the short bubble. This is most dramatic of sleeves! They’re too cute, and it’ll take a little getting used to for me, personally. First in my wardrobe! Interestingly enough, my husband and my boys particularly liked this one. My eldest said it’s his inspo to build his muscles to fight my sleeves 😆 . Linen is French flax linen from @bigandbravefabrics in colour #18, a lovely shade of silver blue. As soon as I saw the call to test for the Sweet Talker Bubble Sleeve Top by @patternemporium_kate , I dived right in. I saw the designer’s make in rayon which yielded such a dreamy and romantic sleeves and wanted one! But somehow my heart just felt like experimenting with substrates this round of pattern testing. So please bear with me while I show you each one of these makes. . I made two of the above-elbow sleeves. First up, is the wide mid neckline, and this is in, possibly my first, seersucker! Typical of seersucker fabric, this one has an ok amount of drape, not much, and is lightweight, resulting in a slightly more structured puff. The sleeve is gathered at the shoulder, and is constructed with a facing (so 2 layers of fabric in each sleeve) with hidden gathers at the bottom. . I really like the top. It has a good amount of ease. I measure a 10, but at the lower end, so I sewed an 8, which is my typical size for Pattern Emporium tops. I lengthened 1/2” for this make. . This is my entry for #preciousfabric24 I purchased 3 yards of this Tropical Leaves Rayon Poplin fabric from @stylemakerfabrics in 2021 with the intention of making a dress. Well, the dress never got made and I was immobilized about what to do with the fabric. Then Pattern Emporium came out with the Sweet Talker Bubble Sleeve Top and I saw Karina's versions @liftingpinsandneedles on YouTube and I knew that was it! I managed to squeeze the top and a True Bias Mave Skirt out of just under 3 yards. I then used the remaining fabric of the tablecloth to make a peplum. Tops and pants. I tend to gravitate towards grabbing pants and a top rather than dresses although I tend to try on a million combos before settling in the morning. Anyone else? It’s the first day of #memademay2025 and I’m wearing the #sweettalkerbubblesleevetop by @patternemporium_kate and visible mending to patch the ‘fashion’ holes in my jeans.

The #sweettalkerbubblesleevetop by Pattern Emporium is such a cute summer top! This is the 4th one I have made and have more planned as I love it so much. SIZING: I made a size 14 with the 2-size bust adjustment and also lowered the dart by 4 cm. I also lengthened my sleeve to inbetween the short and elbow length sleeve - (personal preference) and elasticated the waist. Toile for a new pattern to me #sweettalkerbubblesleevetop by @patternemporium_kate Used a cotton from @theserenitysewcial_brumedition fabric swaps table No alterations to pattern size - omitted the puff ball sleeve and bust darts for a drapey look. Added elastic to sleeves and waist hem to give a gypsy inspired look. Made the first size neck but there are 2 more lower scoops for neck, and lots of mix and matches throughout. Pretty pleased with the finish and pretty pleased with gathering on my overlocker for the first time - thank you to Alison @sewlikedotty for highlighting this on her recent Virtual Sew. Sewed the Pattern Emporium sweet talker bubble sleeve and getaway shorts for my daughter using chambray fabric which has been in my stash for more than 30 years!
