I wore this recently on our wedding anniversary #26gloriousyears It’s a top and skirt disguised as a dress (I believe the technical term is a #coord ) I love the historical details - the Edwardian pleats at the back of the #fantailskirt and the tucks on the #scroophenriettamaria blouse. The skirt pattern doesn’t have pockets but there is a @scrooppatterns blog post which explains how to add pockets to the panels. They’re made in a fairly undrapey linen and I lined the skirt with cotton. As a change from lingerie I tried a pattern all the way from New Zealand #wondersofmoderntechnology The Henrietta Maria top by @scrooppatterns. I really like it - very wearable and easy to sew. It has 74 tucks #countthempeople around the neckline and sleeves and the effect is lovely. When I originally looked at the #bpsewvember #refreshments theme, I wasn't sure how to interpret it. Did it mean literal refreshments, or the things we do in sewing to 'refresh' between big projects? ⠀ .⠀ My sewing palate cleansers are Wonder Unders, the pleating on Henrietta Marias (I just go into a zen state and don't have to think about them at all as I do them), Rosalie stockings, leggings, and any time I can do a fun hack to any of those. I particularly enjoyed turning my favourite leggings pattern into a crazy patchwork of merino scraps in order to create an ersatz WWI era 'Dazzle' camouflage swimsuit (though this was more of an amuse-bouche than a palate cleanser!). Holiday means sewing time! Slowly, slowly I’m progressing with the Chanel-style cardigan. I’ve forgotten to share some steps. In March I made a pattern and two toiles, …and a new updated pattern. I was also thrilled by the fantastic silk I got as lining. I had several goes at laying out the pattern pieces attempting a pattern match. Then all pattern pieces were marked by red basting and silk organza and silk lining attached first by pins then by blue basting 4 cm from the seam line for quilting. This week I’ve started the machine quilting (a bit nervous for the thread tension afraid the pink bobbin tread would be visible) anchoring the dark tread by pulling it to the inside and making a knot with the pink.
