Charlotte Mantle 1770-1795

Scroop Patterns

The Charlotte Mantle is a garment for late 18th century costumes that comes in two views: View A is a longer mantle with short wide lappets, and View B is a shorter mantle with long narrow lappets. Both views can be made with or without a medium sized hood with fan pleating. The Charlotte can be made lined or unlined using historically-accurate methods and hand-sewing techniques. Recommended fabrics include silk taffeta and satin, midweight fulled wools, sheer silks, linens and cottons.
