Another of this year’s patterns: The Culottes. This design started as the next step from The Pleated Skirt as a divided skirt - retaining the pleats idea but with only one, down the centre of each leg, front and back. The search for the perfect inverted pleat culottes pattern continues… This is my wearable toile - trousers version - of @themakersatelier #tmaculottes …. I saw something like this from a brand I like and wanted to make my own - the TMA design came out at the same time… I used stretch woven cotton/linen from @drapersfabrics - perfect for ironing those pleats. Need to lower the rise at the back, possibly make the pleats a bit bigger…. Woollen suiting version coming soon…

So this is my second hack of the lovely @themakersatelier #tmaculottes … Very happy with this version (can’t you tell? 🤭) These are a longer hem again but cropped - possibly my favourite length? I used some beautiful “dark biro” (how can I not buy fabric with that brilliant name) wool suiting from @wearethefabricstore . Slightly purply navy. A lot of time spent with steam and iron getting those pleats nice and crisp and committed to memory for this lovely woollen fabric. Had to wear it with my wardrobe staple - striped long sleeve tee - this one is @patternfantastique ‘s #glacialtee also last pics are with the #closetcoremarine (a crew pattern from 2023) So now I think I have the perfect culottes pattern for “the good fabric” - a secret stash fabric that has been waiting patiently. Hmm..this dark biro is close to perfect so maybe “the good fabric” has some competition….I even have enough dark biro left to make a waistcoat…

THE CULOTTES [🇬🇧below⤵️] 🇪🇸En cuanto vi el diseño de @themakersatelier de estos culottes me quedé maravillada. #tmaculottes tienen un diseño original, con unas pinzas delanteras y traseras que le dan un toque único y elegante. En mi caso he cosido una talla entre 16 y 18 en un algodón a fina rayas marrones y negras de @lescouponsdesaintpierre Modificaciones al patrón: > He modificado el trasero de la cintura para hacerla elástica. Es la primera vez que hago este tipo de modificación, así que el ajuste puede mejorar bastante. Para ello fue imprescindible hacer un “toile” (una muestra previa en tela más barata) y comprobar que ajustaba bien. Siempre busco prendas con cinturas elásticas debido a la inflamación por la endometriosis (no tengo una talla fija, depende mucho del día). > También he añadido presillas (sin ningún motivo concreto, solo me apetecía 🤣🤣) > He ampliado el largo de los pantalones. La verdad es que estoy super contenta con el resultado ❤️❤️¿Qué os parece?? 🇬🇧 As soon as I saw the design of @themakersatelier of these culottes I was delight. The #tmaculottes have an original design, with front and back darts that give them a unique and elegant touch. In my case I have sewn a size between 16 and 18 in a fine brown and black striped cotton from @lescouponsdesaintpierre Hacks to the pattern: > I hacked the back of the waistband to make it elastic. It’s the first time I’ve made this kind of modification, so the fit can be improved a lot. For this it decided to make a toile (a previous sample in cheaper fabric) and check that it fit well. I always look for garments with elastic waistbands because of the swelling due to endometriosis (I don’t have a fixed size, it depends a lot on the day). > I’ve also added loops (no particular reason, I just felt like it 🤣🤣) > I’ve extended the length of the trousers.
