Phew! Just finished in time to squeeze in to #magamdopaminedecember This is @themakersatelier #tmashawlcollarcoat in the lined version which is described on the website (not in the pattern instructions). I saw a photo on instagram ( sadly can’t find it) of Jade Fadojoutimi wearing an oversized flowery Marni coat and decided I had to make it. Found this beautiful fabric in my stash, I am pretty sure it came from @stitch_fabric1 a few years ago. It is a lightweight Italian wool. I lined it with Indian cotton from @merchantandmills. I like the checks with the flowers, but then I thought striped silk would have had a better dopamine effect. But I had the cotton….. I have made this coat before in a boiled wool, which is more what the pattern is aimed at. I made a size smaller this time, lengthened the body and shortened the sleeves. I keep a notebook of my makes, with fabric samples and comments on things that went wrong etc….of course I read the notes of the first make when I had almost finished this one. They told me to do a narrow shoulder adjustment and I think the back would hang better if I had heeded my advice, but too late. Thanks to @suestoney @sewing_in_spain @hportemanteau for the #dopaminesewing inspiration. The weather here in south England is so grim grey and damp and this coat is providing essential cheer. #sewover50 #sewover50december24 #sewover70 #sewover50plus #dopaminedressing
