The only thing I do different is also insert a drawstring, as I prefer this to just putting it in as a pretty ribbon. The fabric, is from @fabricgodmother , subs box.

After a long hiatus I have braved the stitch picker & reunited with my sewing machine! Today I finished making my first ever trouser pattern - @theavidseamstress #thepyjamabottoms which I started months ago! I shortened the length to make pj shorts, increased the crotch length because I’m tall, removed the pockets, and graded down a size from the hips to the waist. I went for the elastic waist instead of the ties. I also used cotton jersey instead of woven fabric, to give myself a bit more room to stretch! First time in my sewing room for weeks after have tonsillitis which knocked me for six. I decided to go for a practical, satisfying sew & I love cotton pj's. This afternoon I made a wearable toile of the @theavidseamstress #pajamabottoms. I used a cotton lawn (I think) which I picked up for a few pounds In a charity shop. I have enough to make a pj top, I’m going to use the Ashton top pattern (another wearable toile). This is my entry to the #so50sustainablesewing challenge organised by @sewover50 & is a story of ‘the sheet’ ‘the oversized shirt’ and ‘the Pyjama bottoms’ literally because those are the pattern names of the clothes I sewed up with my very worn fitted ‘Australian House & Garden’ linen sheet ( note: I tacked the sheet tag to the front of the pj’s. .. just for fun) The rainbow Tee is the #plaintaintee which I included because I used the selvage in the tee & it’s a fabulous #freepattern by #deeranddoepatterns 💕The squares in my hand are the leftover linen which I ripped into quarters and folded in four & overlocked the raw edges ( great for cleaning rags or makeup removers). The pj’s were a pattern I won from @theavidseamstress ( thank you so much🙏🏼) which are adorable high waisted pj bottoms with great instructions. The oversized shirt is sewn in a size Medium and it’s a @theassemblylineshop pattern that’s been on my ‘to make’ list for some time and the buttons are from the op shop ( and I’ve saved the sheet elastic for another project) So voila .. I started these @theavidseamstress pyjama bottoms before Christmas as a gift, but realised as I was sewing that the fabric was a cotton mix and not suitable as a gift for the recipient. So they went on hold until today. They have now become some trousers for my daughter. I changed the waistband slightly to be flat at the front. This afternoon I made a wearable toile of the @theavidseamstress #pajamabottoms. I used a cotton lawn (I think) which I picked up for a few pounds In a charity shop. I have enough to make a pj top, I’m going to use the Ashton top pattern (another wearable toile). This is my entry to the #so50sustainablesewing challenge organised by @sewover50 & is a story of ‘the sheet’ ‘the oversized shirt’ and ‘the Pyjama bottoms’ literally because those are the pattern names of the clothes I sewed up with my very worn fitted ‘Australian House & Garden’ linen sheet ( note: I tacked the sheet tag to the front of the pj’s. .. just for fun) The rainbow Tee is the #plaintaintee which I included because I used the selvage in the tee & it’s a fabulous #freepattern by #deeranddoepatterns 💕The squares in my hand are the leftover linen which I ripped into quarters and folded in four & overlocked the raw edges ( great for cleaning rags or makeup removers). The pj’s were a pattern I won from @theavidseamstress ( thank you so much🙏🏼) which are adorable high waisted pj bottoms with great instructions. The oversized shirt is sewn in a size Medium and it’s a @theassemblylineshop pattern that’s been on my ‘to make’ list for some time and the buttons are from the op shop ( and I’ve saved the sheet elastic for another project) So voila .. A joyous Monday morning, a fantastic parcel arrived today. A monthly subscription box from @theavidseamstress it’s called #theaesthetic-curated. This month is its launch and it’s a fabulous box full of carefully wrapped and packed fabric , a stunning cotton lawn in a subtle peach floral print, elastic and thread to match, a full colour instruction and paper pattern for #theavidseamstresspyjamabottoms . In addition a luxurious scented bath salt in a glass jar with cork stopper. The combination of lavender, rose, and clary sage essential oils scent meets you as you open the box.
