I’m a convert to this pattern. I’ve always been a skinny Jean girl but I was persuaded to try these #avidseamstressculottes I now need to make them in all the colours! Here is my latest make and my #sewfruity23 entry, hosted by @blossomsandwich it is a pair of #avidseamstressculottes the pattern came from #simplysewingmag and were very detailed. I made size 7 and they fit perfectly round the waist and are very comfortable. I’ve used this strawberry print by rose and Hubble which I picked up at Trago Mills haberdashery. They took a while to finish, mainly because I have been so busy recently. Yet another holiday make for @kungfubarbie83 (it was a busy couple of weeks before ha) These are the @theavidseamstress coulottes but shortened considerably to a short and a mock turn-up added to the bottom. Here are my Joyous June #mymakesforthemonth #mymakesforthemonthjune hosted by @sewmuchtodesign this month was a skirt and trousers kind of month. The skirts were both remnants from other projects. The sunflowers is from @poundfabrics and is a #nl6106 I love this fabric and so was pleased I could make something else from it. I’m a convert to this pattern. I’ve always been a skinny Jean girl but I was persuaded to try these #avidseamstressculottes I now need to make them in all the colours! It was a full #memade outfit to work today. I paired the culottes with an old top. Here are my Joyous June #mymakesforthemonth #mymakesforthemonthjune hosted by @sewmuchtodesign this month was a skirt and trousers kind of month. The skirts were both remnants from other projects. The sunflowers is from @poundfabrics and is a #nl6106 I love this fabric and so was pleased I could make something else from it. The leafy skirt is from a gorgeous viscose challis from @minervadotcom and is #s8605 which was a really quick sew and I love the swishy feel. The culottes are a cotton poplin from Trago mills haberdashery. Yet another holiday make for @kungfubarbie83 (it was a busy couple of weeks before ha) These are the @theavidseamstress coulottes but shortened considerably to a short and a mock turn-up added to the bottom. I got the pattern free in @simplysewingmag Fabric was a cotton remnant from @abakhanfabrics @abakhan_liverpool. I also added a lapped zip instead of a invisible one . Sue & Julie joined our Open Sewing Class this morning to make progress on their projects. Sue finished her jersey @sussex_seamstress Amberley dress, it’ll be so comfy in the hot summer. Then she finished a couple of gift bags for her littles & started another zipped pouch. Julie tweaked the fit of her @theavidseamstress s culottes at the waist, making the pleats a little bigger before putting the lining in & the waistband on for the final time & sewing in the invisible zip. November’s Month of Sewing Classes ended last night with a finished garment & more brilliant sewing progress. And a delicious gift of chocolate brownies from Becky - thank you very much! Becky finished her beautiful flowy viscose trousers, pattern cloned from a favourite pair, getting the waistband on & hems pressed & sewn. She has more of the fabric & plans to make a matching blouse - we love a faux jumpsuit. Janette finished & pressed the facing around the front edge of her @sussex_seamstress Rye jacket, it’s looking so crisp. And she got the sleeves in. Brilliantly, she’s already planning her next version - it’s always easier the second time you make a pattern, you’ll be surprised how much you remember what to do. Julie joined us for this class & made great progress with her checked wool culottes, pattern by @theavidseamstress - the pattern matching is looking so good. She sewed up the legs & crotch seam, & basted the waistband on so she could try them on. The fit was fabulous from the hips down, but the waist was too roomy, so she removed the waistband to take in the centre front seam & the back darts. Last night was the last Month of Sewing Class for October, sadly Karina was unwell so couldn’t make it, hopefully she’ll get some more sewing in soon. What a delight to see 2 finished garments! Lorraine in her #MiaDress by @makewithmandi & Julie in her vintage Simplicity pussy bow blouse. Both are so beautifully made & a credit to their makers - it’s a joy to see the progress they’ve made in classes. On to new projects. Julie cut pattern matched pieces for a pair of @TheAvidSeamstress culottes from the Lincoln green check wool we recently got in stock plus lining for them. Lorraine continued with a blouse she had got stuck on after a fitting issue but had made a great solution for. We checked the fit & how the pieces might go together so she could carry on with it knowing it’s going to work. Oh! And then Julie did a full bust adjustment on a top pattern. 2nd attempt at the culottes pattern from @simplysewingmag....and success! Re cut the pattern 2 sizes smaller, had a slight panic that they'd be too small but figured if the first attempt were approx 4" too big then they should fit and they did! They feature pockets, front pleats and back darts & invisible zip (first first time doing one of those!) I used needlepoint cord fabric which was great to sew with. This is another pair of @theavidseamstress #theavidseamstressculottes lengthened to full length in fabulous twill and a @merchantandmills #sidneysweatshirt in a pre-quilted double gauze and chocolate ribbing from @fabricgodmother. This linen is super soft with beautiful drape to it, which makes it a perfect fabric for these culottes. Anyone would think I have a small obsession with leopard print. But you can never have enough, right?!! This is a really versatile dark blue/black cloth with a small bright green leopard print design. It’s a 50/50 viscose cotton mix so it combines the drape of viscose with the ease of cotton. November’s Month of Sewing Classes ended last night with a finished garment & more brilliant sewing progress. And a delicious gift of chocolate brownies from Becky - thank you very much! Becky finished her beautiful flowy viscose trousers, pattern cloned from a favourite pair, getting the waistband on & hems pressed & sewn. She has more of the fabric & plans to make a matching blouse - we love a faux jumpsuit. Janette finished & pressed the facing around the front edge of her @sussex_seamstress Rye jacket, it’s looking so crisp. And she got the sleeves in. Brilliantly, she’s already planning her next version - it’s always easier the second time you make a pattern, you’ll be surprised how much you remember what to do. Julie joined us for this class & made great progress with her checked wool culottes, pattern by @theavidseamstress - the pattern matching is looking so good. She sewed up the legs & crotch seam, & basted the waistband on so she could try them on. The fit was fabulous from the hips down, but the waist was too roomy, so she removed the waistband to take in the centre front seam & the back darts.
