When I saw the newest pattern from the lovely @theavidseamstress I just had to have one I bought the pdf on release day and sent it off to “Colin” the A0 printer @beautifulthingshq where I purchased this fabulous viscose twill . The photo isn’t great but I’ll get some better ones over the weekend. I needed to add to the length of the bodice and the legs but Lisa has a handy tutorial on her website for guidance. So altogether a straightforward sew . I had a fabulous weekend of sewing with the lovely Lisa @theavidseamstress and some very talented fellow sewists at @guthrieghani_studio in Moseley. I’ve really enjoyed seeing what everyone chose to make this weekend and watching the projects come together 💚 I chose to make the Jumpset (dress version) in this really lovely stretch viscose that I got from @guthrieghani earlier this year. (For anyone who likes the fabric- it’s been included in the G&G sale that launched this morning!) I made a size 18 and lengthened the bodice by 5cm using the very helpful instructions on the Avid Seamstress blog. I also increased the cross over at the front slightly to prevent exposing more than I intended to!!! I finished off with a cute label combo- @cosyclubhandmade and @thespeckyseamstress The dress is so light and airy to wear and this fabric is soft and swishy. I’m looking forward to taking it on holiday later this month. The yoke detail on our new sewing pattern The Jumpset has us swoooning. ✂ TOP TIP ✂ For a gorgeously sewn yoke, first sew a toile using a fabric that has a right and wrong side. This way, you can test the method before sewing on your main fabric. Our instruction book will take you through every step. We'll also be adding a video tutorial to our blog soon. Making a toile of the bodice also provides you with an opportunity to check the fit, bodice length and bodice wrap. You can use your waist measurements to sew elastic to the bodice hem and check the overall fit without needing to add the skirt or trouser pieces.
