These shorts are a wearable toile for a special denim that I have, because I am all about that elastic waist nowadays Pattern is #psnelliejoggers and fabric is frakle cotton from @cadena_fabrics_prints (thin, stable, some stretch). @patternscout has the best instruction, it's the second time I am doing a half elastic waist and it went great (after I almost quit sewing from frustration the first time) A lot of the cool features of this pattern are lost in the black cotton, but I am glad I tried the pattern first with a "simple" fabric.. I measured to size 16 in the waist and 8 according to my hips, so tried to grade 4 sizes between 16 and 10. The shape turned out a bit strange, and the pants are way too big, I think I will just make size 10 from my good fabric next time.. Also wearing here my loved #blommatank from last year, I wish it was more breastfeeding friendly so I could wear it in real life and not just for a picture

I'm always on the lookout for comfortable workwear to accompany my multiple (🙈) #antheablouse or as seen here one of my few #raetop . Enter #psnelliejoggers from @patternscout in Spotlight #premiumlinen in khaki. I admit I moaned to a sewing buddy about how long they took me to sew because they include four pockets, a zipper, a fly shield, 2 side leg panels, two hook and bar closure sets, an elastic waist and elastic at the ankles. Shamefully now I LOVE all these extra details and realised I had been subconsciously (and unfairly!) comparing them to the fast sew of the #robbiepants of which I may have a few.... . I wasn't sure how they suit a tummy but today paired (and covered) by my #raetop I was very comfortable and plenty of ease see last pic. . Made in size 12, I find the hook and bar closures above the zip a bit fiddly and may replace them with two metal snaps next time. I may also omit the side panels as I prefer less bulk around my legs but this will change the sizing of the two front facings and back facing so can I be even bothered??? . Overall they look smart for work, suit linen lovers and are suitable for medium weight woven fabrics.

I’ve made very basic pants before, but never anything with a zipper fly and closures. I’m quite happy with how these turned out! I made a couple of changes, because I didn’t use elastic at the waist or cuffs, due to my fabric choice, and I should have sized down a bit, but I’m super happy with how they turned out. If you are interested in sewing, this Nellie Joggers pattern is by Pattern Scout, and her instructions are fantastic. I was completely inspired to make these in quilted fabric by @sewuthinkucan ‘s sew the look posts. Pauline is a talented sewist who inspires many sewists on IG. Thanks Pauline!

I have been looking for clog style shoe in thrift stores for a long time and man it’s pretty hard to find a plain-ish pair. But I found these yesterday! I think these skew a tiny bit more “garden” and less “cool” than I was hoping for, but I am still enjoying them. Made these #psnellieshorts for an upcoming vacation and because I can't buy shorts that fit in any store... I really like the flat front / elastic back combination, it makes this pattern be such a comfortable wear. These are made from a technical fabric that has stretch and is water resistant -- think hiking pants material. For this make, I decided to remove the pattern's side stripe by incorporating it into the front pant piece. This fit includes grading and modifications to the crotch curve. I'm totally thinking about sewing! I like the variation this pant adds to my wardrobe. In a heavy weight like this, I can see this pattern being used for an outdoorsy/hiking pant (the elastic back waist!!)... On my rest day... went for a walk and saw lots of herons and an osprey, got Jamaican food, and did some sewing! But when I made them again, they were still way too big.. so it set aside for a month, until one day I just stitched the side panels closed, and suddenly it is wearable again I am still a bit disappointed with these.. I was drawn to the half elastic waist, but I guess I am not a fan of the cargo look on me. Also, a lot of the great details of this pattern are lost in the black on black I did here. Anyway, I don't have many pants that fit well right now.. so even though they are not perfect, thry are comfortable and I wear them a lot 😊 Fabric- @cadena_fabrics_prints frackel crispy cotton, 3% lycra. Nellie Joggers by @patternscout This is the first pair of jogger patterns that actually fit me with very few modifications. I chose the size based on my hip measurements and used #TopDownCenterOut method by @ithacamaven to fit. The only modifications I needed to do were to bring in the waist at the back by 1/2” on each side for a total of 1”. Also modified the facing to match Reduced elastic length by 1” as well. Could take out another 1/2” The fabric is a medium weight moss green 100% linen (4C22) from @fabricsstorecom Shown here with a #FridayPatternCompany Square Neck Tee in linen also from @fabricsstorecom #psnelliejoggers

#holidaywardrobe Added a few new items to my holiday wardrobe this year and also brought along some old favourites. These are my new shorts @patternscout Nellie shorts and joggers made in a washed cotton remnant, which has a sort of linen feel really from @lamazifabrics I love the Pattern scout Nellie pattern, these are my third version, I have made trousers and another pair of shorts. The fly insertion is pure genius and gives a superb result. The only alteration I have made to the Nellie shorts is to take a little of the fullness out from the bag leg piece. Other than that, I found they fitted perfectly and are really cool and comfy to wear. Teamed with an old favourite the @truebias zoey tank in an art gallery cotton jersey.

This #PSCoziJacket took a while longer to get to than I had planned, but I’m so glad I finally got to it! Totally inspired by the gray version made by @ohsewcathy - I nabbed this pink fuzzy fleece from #oursocialfabric specifically for this jacket. Since making my navy wearable muslin of the #PSCozi in Version B, I added an additional 1/2” to the sleeve and body for extra snuggle-y-ness in this Version A. Totally toasty - I rushed to finish it up tonight after feeling chilled since running out for errands - winter is here, snow on the ground. I like it a LOT more than the ridiculous heat this summer, that’s for sure! Pssst! These might be the nicest pants I have made. They are the #psnelliejoggers . The pattern design is so well done. The fabric is a slubbed viscose linen from #blackbirdfabrics . Also really nice. My daughter is very lucky I think. I added a couple of inches to the length of the pants so the bottom elastic rides over her ankles.

I made some pants! They are @patternscout #psnelliejoggers in an upholstery rando from Joann. Things I like about this pattern: the pockets, the flat front with no waistband, and the elasticated back waist. Thing that didn’t work for me: the length, which I left as is bc I have long legs and I saw lots of people with these pants bagging around their ankles, so assumed the length would work. But they are too short for me and next time I will add 1.5” to the length. As it is the cuff size is meant for an ankle and they don’t quite reach my ankles, so they are tight. This is also a big style departure for me as I rarely do casual or even wear pants outside of work. Nonetheless I want to make a pair of these in pink twill!!! Oh yeah and these have a tuxedo stripe down the side which could be real fun in a contrast fabric ☺️ Oh yeah, I made one adjustment to this pattern, adding 5/8” length to back crotch to accommodate buns, will add slightly more next time. #sewing #sewingismysuperpower

A favorite outfit from this week and a newly finished project that deserves a spot on the grid. I worked on this quarter zip alongside some lovely ladies at the newly implemented open sew night at my shop. It is so nice to create with other people! I started with the Kwik Sew 1553 pattern, but quickly realized the long body + tight waistband wasn’t doing it for me, so I changed course, cropped this sweater and used self fabric for the bands rather than ribbing. And I love it! I’ve been struggling to find warmer tops to mix with my high waisted pants and this solves that problem. Hooray for finding shapes that work for me! This #PSCoziJacket took a while longer to get to than I had planned, but I’m so glad I finally got to it! Totally inspired by the gray version made by @ohsewcathy - I nabbed this pink fuzzy fleece from #oursocialfabric specifically for this jacket. Since making my navy wearable muslin of the #PSCozi in Version B, I added an additional 1/2” to the sleeve and body for extra snuggle-y-ness in this Version A. Totally toasty - I rushed to finish it up tonight after feeling chilled since running out for errands - winter is here, snow on the ground. I like it a LOT more than the ridiculous heat this summer, that’s for sure! Pssst! A favorite outfit from this week and a newly finished project that deserves a spot on the grid. I worked on this quarter zip alongside some lovely ladies at the newly implemented open sew night at my shop. It is so nice to create with other people! I started with the Kwik Sew 1553 pattern, but quickly realized the long body + tight waistband wasn’t doing it for me, so I changed course, cropped this sweater and used self fabric for the bands rather than ribbing. And I love it! I’ve been struggling to find warmer tops to mix with my high waisted pants and this solves that problem. Hooray for finding shapes that work for me! I'm always on the lookout for comfortable workwear to accompany my multiple (🙈) #antheablouse or as seen here one of my few #raetop . Enter #psnelliejoggers from @patternscout in Spotlight #premiumlinen in khaki. I admit I moaned to a sewing buddy about how long they took me to sew because they include four pockets, a zipper, a fly shield, 2 side leg panels, two hook and bar closure sets, an elastic waist and elastic at the ankles. Shamefully now I LOVE all these extra details and realised I had been subconsciously (and unfairly!) comparing them to the fast sew of the #robbiepants of which I may have a few.... . I wasn't sure how they suit a tummy but today paired (and covered) by my #raetop I was very comfortable and plenty of ease see last pic. . Made in size 12, I find the hook and bar closures above the zip a bit fiddly and may replace them with two metal snaps next time. I may also omit the side panels as I prefer less bulk around my legs but this will change the sizing of the two front facings and back facing so can I be even bothered??? . Overall they look smart for work, suit linen lovers and are suitable for medium weight woven fabrics.

I made some pants! They are @patternscout #psnelliejoggers in an upholstery rando from Joann. Things I like about this pattern: the pockets, the flat front with no waistband, and the elasticated back waist. Thing that didn’t work for me: the length, which I left as is bc I have long legs and I saw lots of people with these pants bagging around their ankles, so assumed the length would work. But they are too short for me and next time I will add 1.5” to the length. As it is the cuff size is meant for an ankle and they don’t quite reach my ankles, so they are tight. This is also a big style departure for me as I rarely do casual or even wear pants outside of work. Nonetheless I want to make a pair of these in pink twill!!! Oh yeah and these have a tuxedo stripe down the side which could be real fun in a contrast fabric ☺️ Oh yeah, I made one adjustment to this pattern, adding 5/8” length to back crotch to accommodate buns, will add slightly more next time. #sewing #sewingismysuperpower

These might be the nicest pants I have made. They are the #psnelliejoggers . The pattern design is so well done. The fabric is a slubbed viscose linen from #blackbirdfabrics . Also really nice. My daughter is very lucky I think. I added a couple of inches to the length of the pants so the bottom elastic rides over her ankles.
