🤍 the Cozi Jacket 🤍 I finished this snuggly jacket a few weeks ago, and it was the perfect layer to keep me warm while on a family holiday in Ross-on-Wye. Anyone who knows me will know that I am a complete sucker for a teddy fleece, so when I saw this lovely daisy embroidered teddy fabric, I knew I wanted to try and make one myself! The fabric itself is lovely and soft while also not being excessively fluffy. The price for the fabric was also very reasonable and was relatively easy to work with. Unfortunately, it was not very forgiving when I needed to use my seam ripper, which resulted in a few holes 🫠 On the upside, the fluffy nature of the fabric did mean that I could patch these up and are unnoticeable when wearing! 😅 For the pattern, I chose the #pscozijacket by @patternscout and purchased this from @thefoldline . I chose to have the pattern pieces printed off for me, which is a service I think I will continue to use as it saves so much time and was delivered quickly! The pattern iteslf was very clear and well explained with lots of diagrams to support. Overall, I am extremely happy with this jacket and can see it getting plenty of use over Spring! 👋🏻 I haven’t been very talkative and I haven’t sewn a lot these past few months, but here are two recent makes- both very functional and I think will get a lot of wear. @daughterjudypatterns #adamspant (up to 66.5” hip) in bull denim- the black of course makes them hard to see in photos. 🤷🏻♀️ I have been wanting a more comfortable alternative to the persephones and other jeans for a while and I think these will be perfect. I made a size 10 but prob will size down next time bc I had to take wedges out all around my waist but that’s all ok bc I basted them together to start as I expected I would need to adjust the fit. Only other mod was that I lengthened the leg by 1” just from looking at the finished garment measurements. I love a cropped pant but sometimes I want warm ankles too. 🥶 I may add even more length on my next pair. ETA: oops, one more mod, I switched out the back pocket with the Morgan jeans back pocket but it’s a bit small and I prob should have paid more attention to the placement but… 🤷🏻♀️. I made this cozy fleece @patternscout #pscozijacket a few weeks ago and I think it’ll be great. But also I’m never working with fleece like this again. I felt like I couldn’t even see what I was sewing, the pile was so high. The insides are so so not pretty bc my stitches are wonky and there are thread nests all over the place. 😅 ETA also made the @petiteknit #oslohat #memadeeveryday #handmadewardrobe #makersgonnamake #sewistsofinstagram #diyootd #memadeootd #wiaw #imakemyownclothes #isewmyownclothes #sustainablesewing #sewinglove #sewaddicted #imadethis #roanokesews #mmootd #consciouscloset #mindfulsewing #imademyclothes #indiepatterns #handmadeclothing #virginiasews

I recently partnered with a local Portland photographer @nutsandboltsphoto to get some fun fall pics! We had the most beautiful fall morning and I love the shots he captured! I didn’t have any new me-mades at the time that needed pics, so I went with a tried and true not-so-basic top, the @sewhouse7 #skylinetee made in a burnout velvet and a newish @patternscout #pscozijacket , some rtw jeans and some fun stockings underneath 😉 What do you think of this look?!? #ecofashion #ethicalfashion #pdxmakers #millenialsewing #handmadewardrobe #imakemyownclothes #portlandmakers #portlandsewing #pdxsews #imakefashion #isewmyownclothes #celebratemymakes #indiesewingpattern #pdfsewingpattern #diyfashion #modernsewist #sewover40 #corduroyjacket #fallsewing #photoshoot

There are times when you want to work on easy quick projects (see our post dated September 6). Then there are times when you want to stir things up and dive into a more complicated project, a project with lots of details, closures or tailoring. These projects often take time and stretch and challenge your skills. You may learn something new along the way and have a great sense of satisfaction once the project is complete. Here are some beautiful examples of these types of slow sewing projects: 1. Tanja @FromMyStudio - Vintage Vogue 2694 from the 1990’s 2. Madge @Modelled_by_Madge #SATatumWoven Dress by @StyleArc 3. Lynn @LynnSewsNow - Ramona Skirt by @TillyButtons #SewingRamona 4. Kathryn @OtepotiSews - #ElizaTrench by @PapercutPatterns 5. Susie @Harping_Mad - #OxbowPants (made as jeans) by @Sewhouse7 6. 🍁RIGHT ON TIME🍂 Het weer slaat ineens om en mijn jasje is precies klaar. Combining two of my newest memades (#arthurpants and #pscozijacket) with one of my oldest (#jacksontee). It's cool to see how some pieces even if I made them years ago still integrate very well with the rest of my closet. Which brings me to wonder, what actually makes a garment so good that I want to wear it again and again? It's certainly not perfection, as the neckline of this #jacksontee is quite floppy, still it doesn't bother me enough to give it away - which I have done with many things I've seen over the years that just didn't suit me any more, be it the fit or style. My wife sometimes suspects that I'm trying to build an enormous wardrobe but I'd actually would want to have a few pieces (how many exactly is another good question!) that I just love, that fit me great and that I'll want to wear again and again. I find it really hard to achieve this though. Any tips on how to get there? This #pscozijacket is my second attempt at the pattern. I made one years ago and didn't like it at all, although I made the hooded view back then. This time I made a size 20 out of some sweater fabric I had lying around and omitted the elastic at the bodice hem and I really enjoy wearing it, I find the collar very comfortable and practical. Swipe to see some detail shots of it. #fatsewing #fatsewingclub #plussizesewing #sewing #queersewing #sewqueer #memadeeveryday #memadewardrobe #imademyclothes #handmadeclothes #nähenistwiezaubernkönnen #curvysewingcollective #leipzignäht #nursingsewing #nursingfriendlysewing

@patternscout #pscozijacket When you decide to sew a light, unlined jacket... but then you get scared it won't be warm enough so you quilt your fabric and make your own bias tape and bind all the seams and finally finish only to decide you really should have used the elastic in the sleeve cuffs and hem, so you unpick and add elastic and re-sew and end up taking weeks to make something you'd planned to finish in a weekend. I can't be the only person who does this sort of thing. Can I? Fabric: white textured cotton, bought in London from *I can't remember where* because it was 9 years ago and I wasn't awesome enough that I labelled fabrics back then. To be fair, I'm not that awesome now either. Maybe one day. Or not. Mods: - I quilted my main fabric for extra warmth: I used cotton/bamboo quilt batting throughout. For the lining I used an old white bed sheet for the front bodice pieces and a mustard floral rayon for the rest. I used the white sheet at the front because I foresee myself wearing this mostly open, and I didn't want the mustard showing/limiting what I can wear this jacket with. - I'd planned on using flat felled seams throughout but I couldn't in the end because the quilted pieces were just too thick. So I made bias binding from the same rayon I used for the lining and bound the seams. Lessons: - I cut the same size I measured at (4), even though I was using a quilted and therefore thick fabric. I didn't want it to be TOO boxy and oversized. I should have cut the size up. It's just a titch small. Wearable, but would be better a little larger. - I should have lengthened the sleeves and bodice by an inch. Same reasoning as above. #patternscout #imakemyownclothes #stillsewingstories #pscozi #sewistsofinstagram #sewersofinstagram #diywardrobe #millenialsewing #millenialsewist #sewoverforty #sewover40 #australiasews #isew #handmadewardrobe

Snow days have a completely different feeling when you are retired and not having to get to school to help students and staff ❤️❄️ Instead, I curled up in my sewing room and made a cozy fleece! This make is an accumulation of all the right colours and accessories. It’s the perfect example of buying from your colour palette no matter what it is-everything coordinates. This lovely ruffled metallic ribbing pops with the fleece, and the double gold zip, khaki drawstring and single bias tape add fun details. It is nice to have a bright pop of colour in a sea of the normal gray and black choices of winter. 💛💚 Especially with Mr Henry for company 💛 Hoodie: Cozi Jacket from @patternscout The coziness gold cotton fleece @minervadotcom Ruffle metallic ribbing: @moodfabrics NYC Hat: hand crocheted by my girl Syd Pleather pants: Hudson pants @truebias Bias Binding: @thespeckyseamstress My Sewing label: @dutchlabelshop #snowday #fleecejacket #patternscoutpatterns #pscozijacket #wintersewing #SewOver50January #wearwhatyoulove #colorguru

🌸 C O Z I 🌸 first new make of 2024 🥳 I bought this cute fleecey fabric one year ago with the #CoziJacket in mind. Better late than never, it's turned out exactly how I imagined and I love it 🩷 I wanted it to be slightly oversized so I could wear layers underneath, my measurements put me between size 18-20 but I made a 22. The only mods were adding 2 inches to the overall length and an extra inch to the pockets to make them a bit deeper. It's version A (with the funnel neck), I just didn't add elastic to the cuffs (per version B). My favourite details are the pink zip and the label on the back (👉). It was a fun, straight-forward sew, the only tricky thing was trying to fit several layers of the fleece under my machine, it was not happy about that! I decided to review my #makenine2021 (it was actually make thirteen - whatever.) Just me - or does January 2021 feel like (at least) three years ago?! My #makenine2021 included: #blackwoodcardigan #pslulucardigan #kallesleeveextension #m2mleggings #remyraglan #dawnjeans (x2) #wikstentop #monroeturtleneck #joggers #kalletop #bethiouaraglan #morganjeans I DID make a green #blackwoodcardigan I did not make another #lulucardigan - but that fabric became a #pscozijacket I DID make a #kallesleeveextension #kalleshirt (The #fuckinggorgeouskalle ) I did not yet make my #m2mleggings - I’ve found myself wearing leggings less and less with the advent of my #inactivewear joggers I did make #remyraglan number two from that fabulous #ikatfabric The #dawnjeans were a total bust for me - I made some #noicejeans cords instead of other dawns I did not make another #wikstentop yet Instead of another #monroeturtleneck I made multiple #tarleeturtleneck and #jalieemilie turtlenecks #joggers yup! And, even though I used the green striped fabric for another striped top, I did make another #bethiouaraglan in November Looking back, I’m amazed (on the one hand) that I got so much sewing accomplished over this year - and, on the other hand, I recognize that sewing was my main coping skill this difficult year. #mybodymodel #SewOver50 #BCSews #makenine

This #PSCoziJacket took a while longer to get to than I had planned, but I’m so glad I finally got to it! Totally inspired by the gray version made by @ohsewcathy - I nabbed this pink fuzzy fleece from #oursocialfabric specifically for this jacket. Since making my navy wearable muslin of the #PSCozi in Version B, I added an additional 1/2” to the sleeve and body for extra snuggle-y-ness in this Version A. Totally toasty - I rushed to finish it up tonight after feeling chilled since running out for errands - winter is here, snow on the ground. I like it a LOT more than the ridiculous heat this summer, that’s for sure! Pssst! Did you see? @patternscout has a BOGO sale on right now…Just in case you need this one… or the #PSHanaTank or #PSnellieJoggers …all some of my favourites 😉 #BCSews #SewOver50 #So50Outerwear#so50jackets

This is my second #pscozijacket. I lengthened the bodice and did my always-needed forward shoulder adjustment. Because the back side of the fleece was a little scratchy, I lined it with a Nerida Hansen cotton. The way the colors of the print match the fleece but the patterns kind of clash just thrills me. Teddy fleece and lining fabric from the wonderful @kreando.ch. Thanks to @arpatoz for tramping through the snow with me this morning to snap these photos.

Also made myself a jacket! This is the @patternscout #cozijacket, although I made mine from a decidedly-not-cosy (although lovely) cotton canvas from @quiltyarnstitch. I can't believe I made an actual coat -- with flat-felled seams all over, no less. Finished my first Cozi Jacket by @patternscout and I love it! I’ve had this dark green teddy bear fleece for ages and I’m so thrilled with how it turned out. I made a straight size 12, no adjustments. Great instructions, too - My first separating zipper and bias-bound seams. I made the wrong assumption that since the pattern is drafted for a height of 5’9” that I wouldn’t have to lengthen the sleeves but they are of course a wee bit shorter than I prefer. I would definitely make this one again. (I wrote more of my thoughts on @threadloop.app). #pscozijacket

Combining Day 3 and 4 of #mmm2024 #memademay2024 #okaymemademay Prompt for Day 3 is secondhand fabric and I’m wearing a denim dress repurposed from a vintage dress using a vintage pattern. Worn over a #sewingfreya turtleneck in a 10oz black cotton spandex from @lafinchfabrics_new . This fabric is the perfect thick cotton knit with great stretch and recovery and I think they have more in lots of colors on their site. Prompt for Day 4 is indie pattern designer which is easy since those are mainly what I use. It’s a cozy sweats kinda Saturday for me so wearing a @patternscout #pscozijacket in fleece from @blackbirdfabrics . I made a second one of these out of color-blocked fleece scraps that I gave to my sister.

Pattern: #PSCoziJacket by @patternscout Fabric: daisy polar fleece from @sewmesunshine.uk Label: @heysewsister.co.uk #MeMadeWardrobe #FatSewing #imakemyclothes #MakersGonnaMake #sewcialist #sewingsunshine #pscozijacket

A Cozi Jacket perfect for adventuring with the kids 😍 I've found myself reaching for an old hoody recently as a comfy extra layer to play in the garden or nip to the park with the children, but thought a fleece or Borg jacket style garment would bring me more joy. Our recent holiday spurred my low sewjo into action, this make has definitely been put through its paces. We've been enjoying the unseasonably warm weather getting out to explore the local area and the beach however being by the sea it's been quite windy. With all the fresh air, the kids have been in bed early so I managed to take a few snaps before we headed home. The Pattern Scout Cozi Jacket was a fairly easy make, I certainly made my life easier by making it in fleece as I could skip most of the seam finishes. The pattern is a oversized slightly cropped jacket but I wanted something a little longer, so I lengthened the bodice by 10cm to sit on my hip more. I made a combination of both the views, I slightly elasticated the sleeves (slightly as the fleece is fairly bulky around the wrist) and opted for the hood over the collar but omitted the drawstring and doubled up on the hood pieces to line the hood. I sized up one size from my bust measurement as I knew I was going to wear this most as an outer layer that I can layer underneath. I really like the internal finish on the zip, it's bound in bias binding which means there are no bulky facings and the top and bottom edges are enclosed in the hem and hood. Judging by how much I've enjoyed wearing this on holiday, I've no doubt I'm going to be reaching for this fleece on a regular basis 📍Pattern: @patternscout #PSCoziJacket 📍Adjustments: Mentioned Above 📍Fabric & Zip: Arty Flowers on Dark Navy Anti Pill Polar Fleece Fabric from @poundfabrics #PatternScout #PatternScoutPatterns #PatternScoutCoziJacket #PSCozi #PSCoziJacketFat #PSCoziJacketPlus #PoundFabrics #SewingFleece #SewingJacket #SewingHoodie #SewingHoody #SewingPolarFleece #MeMadeInAction #MeMadeonHoliday #MeMadeWardrobe

Today it was windy and cloudy so I wore my newest make in a light pink to cheer me up, the famous #arthurpants by @sewliberated. Fabric is a washed cotton from @kattun_stoffe. I changed the pattern a lot by basically copying the crotch curve from the Ninni culottes (I don't understand the concept of a dropped crotch in plus sizes, doesn't that mean your thighs are chafing all the time?) and also shortening the legs by 10cm. I think the outcome is pretty good. For them to hang perfectly I would need a knock knee adjustment I think. I really enjoyed the slow and technical process of sewing them with all these flat felled seams and zip fly (although next time I'd make it with a cut on fly extension because I think this is way better method to construct a zip fly), I'm really hooked on making more pants. They're just so practical when out and about. Swipe to see a video with lots of hair on my jacket (post pregnancy hair loss is a thing 😥) and a photo of the outfit in action. I'm also wearing a #ddorage shirt and a #pscozijacket. If you have recommendations for good fitting pants with elaborated details, I'd love to hear! I'm eyeing the aina culottes by named clothing especially. #fatsewing #fatsewingclub #plussizesewing #sewing #queersewing #sewqueer #memadeeveryday #memadewardrobe #imademyclothes #handmadeclothes #nähenistwiezaubernkönnen #curvysewingcollective #leipzignäht #nursingsewing #nursingfriendlysewing

The Cozi jacket was definitely my favorite make of 2023! Layers of any kind are almost always at the top of my list! Every time I wear one of my Cozi's I'm asked where I got it! I originally purchased the pattern because the simple lines and minimalist style are what I'm usually looking for in a garment. Other than shortening the sleeves, the pattern is a perfect fit and hits at all the right places on my frame. Wonderful fabric is always a plus and I found the jacket great to put together in both knit and woven fabrics! The knit print (Storm Clouds) was a beautiful French Terry selvedge piece from Beyond The Pink Door Fabrics; the solid stretch woven is "Soft Stretch Micro Wale Corduroy" (Spice) available from Style Maker Fabrics. https://stylemakerfabrics.com/products/soft-stretch-micro-wale-corduroy-solid-spice?variant=32928015843363 I used quilting cotton to make the bias binding for a Hong Kong finish of the woven jacket. Now that it's chillier, I will look for a wool or teddy fabric for more warmth! #pscozijacket @patternscout @beyond.thepinkdoor @stylemakerfabrics @sewover50

Day 9 of #memademay2025 - another onion... The bag is fab and has been used daily for months. I used it as the perfect canvas for putting asome of the sew on patches I've collected over the years. The dungarees are zero waste and I've hacked them to have pleats at the front and a tie waist that gathers the back. I didn’t intend to wear these two garments together but I think it works... #peaksandvalleyspants by @decades_of_style and #pscozijacket by @patternscout Both quite easy and straight forward makes. The fabric is a super soft but sturdy brushed cotton twill from @skroten_tyg The contrast pieces is the same fabric with the wrong side out. The rise of the pants is quite low, I had to add a little to the back instead of taking away front and back ad I usually do. I added a little to the length too. They are super comfortable, I’m so glad @sewsewlive made me notice the pattern! I added a nifty windshield inside the jacket zip, as I could see straight through the zip. As a bonus it acts as a zipper stop for my shortened zip. A great autumn jacket! #hillevihandmade #swedensews #sewover50 #memadeeveryday

Denim is a durable, functional fabric with a little bit of sass and is always on trend. Sewing with denim can give you the opportunity to learn new skills like tackling heavy fabric, top stitching, various pocket structures, and hardware. Denim garments are also great for re-purposing and upcycling projects. There is so much variety when sewing with denim, all sorts of garments, accessories, and soft furnishings. Do you love working with denim? If so.do you have any tips or favourite patterns to share with the class? Perhaps denim scares you a bit. I love this yummy soft stretch microwale corduroy...the Closet Core Pietra trousers and Pattern Scout Cozi Jacket (paired here with my Liesl&Co Amarena blouse) were so enjoyable to make up and are really comfortable to wear! I still had some in my stash and inspired by Theresa@LostMyThread, I decided to make stash busting a bit of an adventure and fill a gap in my closet at the same time. After deciding to make the Seamwork Knox jumper, I came up just a bit short on one pattern piece- but determined to press on, I added a scrap & decided that Plan B was to create some wearable art! I love to quilt, so stash for applique was no problem... The Knox jumper became a "build as you go" project- after adding the applique, I decided it needed to be interlined- and I didn't have enough corduroy to make the side panel that becomes the back of the pocket situation so used one of the fabrics included in the applique. Problem solved, I have a variety of tops & blouses to wear with my new Knox and Cozi jacket. @lostmythread @stylemakerfabrics https://stylemakerfabrics.com/products/soft-stretch-micro-wale-corduroy-solid-spice?variant=32928015843363 @seamwork #seamworkknox @closetcore #closetcorepietra @patternscout #pscozijacket @lieslandco #lieslandcoamarenatop #sewover50 #wearableart #stashbuster
