Here’s a second new blouse for the #sewaprilblouse25 challenge run by @cloth_edit and @sewn_on_the_tyne . Besides for being black, this one is out of my usual style comfort zone. This is the @patternscout #pspoppyblouse made in a polyester black chiffon that I’ve had in my stash forever. I used the eyelet border for the sleeve and bottom hems (swipe to see untucked) and added some of it into the shoulder seams as well. I also removed the collar on the pattern. I’m honestly not sure how much wear this will get since I don’t like wearing polyester but it was a fun experiment! It will be nice to have a romantic fancy blouse in case I want to mix up my usual style. Worn with straight leg #mndawnjeans in a dark green canvas. Just finished my first kit from @guthrieghani . I bought the #pspoppyblouse kit @thestitchfestival . The pattern is accurately sized and the @patternscout written instructions are good BUT the YouTube link from Lauren @guthrieghani is amazing and I kept referring back to it . The collar is a bit floppy, so as Lauren suggested I will cut it down by 1cm on the next version. Think I will buy the Nicks dress kit next!! #notenoughsewingtime #kits #summerfabric

AD / GIFTED The lovely team at @guthrieghani asked if would like early access to the March sewing society kit and I couldn’t say yes fast enough! I love the sewing society kits, you get everything you need to make the project, and this one is the Poppy Blouse by @patternscout in G&Gs exclusive chicacheetah print in a vibrant blue colourway. 🩵The viscose handles beautifully and is lovely to work with. I chose to make the version without the peplum, and I used elastic to finish the arms rather than the bound edge of the original pattern. I shortened the sleeves by 2.5 inches but made no other adjustments. I’ve been wearing this gorgeous blouse with jeans and I’m waiting for warmer weather as it will fabulous with shorts too. Hot off the machine! ##memademay2023 day 11! This is a #pspoppyblouse by @patternscout I love that it comes with cup sizes and the large dart helps manage some of the volume near by bust! Very floaty, but still shaped. Like yesterday, this is a new shape for me — I don’t typically do floaty volume — but I think I’m digging it. For sizing, I went with my high bust measurement, which sized me down on the rest of the chart, but there is so much ease that I wasn’t concerned. I’m pleased with the fit overall! The fabric is a stunning #deadstock from Rebecca Taylor found at @millendstore

The #HeleneJeans are simply the perfect jeans for me. This brown pair is my second pair and I made them over the course of about 6ish hours yesterday. I also did a button fly on this pair and the instructions for assembly were different than I am used to. It reduces bulk in the area but doesn’t allow for the little pockets I usually make for my buttons. Even so, this fabric is on the lighter side so I don’t expect much issue. And I’m super excited to get the wear from the buttons! I know these pants are going to get so much wear and I’m super excited to have them in my life! Let’s talk a little about Pattern Scout shall we? Casey has wonderful patterns that are well drafted, true to size, well written and thought out. Her instructions alone are worth purchasing her patterns. This is the Ava Dress which I also got the honor of testing for her. It comes in 2 lengths and this is the maxi length (obvs). This was my very wearable toile and I didn’t have to make any corrections (like lowering the bust dart thank you). This is for wovens but I’m sure it would work well for stable knits. Also, if you are tall she drafts for 5’9” so I didn’t have to make any adjustments for height. Woot! This little embroidered number is a hack of the @patternscout #pspoppyblouse. It’s the 2nd one I’ve made and I love the pattern. I originally made this one with long sleeves and it had no embroidery. It sat languishing in my wardrobe as I found the long puffy sleeves a bit overwhelming in black linen. I decided to chop off the sleeves and add a ruffle to the edges so that it matched the neckline. Then came the embroidery. That was the fun bit! I actually only had a bit of a loose plan for the finished design and just kept adding bits as I went whilst watching Netflix at night. I’m so pleased with my latest make, a peasant style blouse with bishop sleeves. I started this sew a few weeks ago while at the Makers Lodge studio and I took my time to make sure I did it well with French seams and evenly spaced gathers. The pattern is the Poppy blouse by @patternscout, a new to me designer that was recommmended by a friend. I used viscose fabric from @makerslodgecp, the beautiful Sunset Flowers by @katiafabrics. The fabric was wonderful to work with; it has a nice weight and does not wrinkle easily. I really enjoyed sewing this blouse and following along with the video that accompanies the pattern. I did my usual petite adjustments, shortening the bodice and sleeves. I love the gathered collar, the fun billowy sleeves, the ruffled hem and the fluid drape of this blouse. I love fabric with texture. And this broderie anglaise delivers with its gorgeous lace pattern. It was perfect for a simple raglan peasant blouse with puffed sleeves for a soft romantic look with a modern straight cut. I debated doing the ruffle collar because of the thickness of the lace motif in some area; however, the margins near the selvedge was clear of the lace and offered a perfect opportunity to use it as lining for the collar, cuffs and ties. I also used a bias tape to hem the blouse to minimize handling of the textured lace in the folded hem. ——————————————— Tout comme @mirka.couture, lorsque j’ai vu ce magnifique tissu chez #clubtissus , je savais que ce devait être une blouse romantique à manche bouffante. C’est loin de mes récentes créations colorées des dernières semaines et cela donne avec un look tout en douceur. Over winter I find I don't sew a lot, but as the weather has got nicer and the days longer, I've been sewing a fair bit. First up is this Poppy Blouse from a @guthrieghani Sewing Society Kit. Love the print and love the top! Prefer the ties done up rather than open. Have found it to be a bit short on the body (especially at the back) so for the second one I decided I'd lengthen by 2cm across the body and sleeves. And second one coming soon! I have been thinking about making my own Vyshyvanka & have looked at some of the patterns I have in my stash to see what I could use for a basic blouse. I have a number of choices but here are 4 that seem most like what I am looking for. 1. Rhapsody Blouse by @lovenotions 2. McCalls 8042 --the pink view 3. Simplicity 3786 -- the view the model is wearing 4. Poppy Blouse by @patternscout I also have the option to make a traditional pattern based on body measurements like the one that @myroslavaboikivart teaches -- it would be amazing to take a class from her. Think I will be trying out a few of these to see how I like the fit -- then it will be on to choosing embroidery designs! My entry into the #sewaprilblouse25 challenge is the Poppy Blouse by @patternscout. The @guthrieghani kit that was released a few months ago was my inspiration for the make. I already had some Chicacheetah fabric that I had purchased when it was initially released, so I purchased the pattern. I made a few changes to the pattern. I used elastic for the sleeves instead of using the cuff. I was tired of gathering at that point. 😊 I made the version with the ruffle/peplum. I seemed a little shorter that I prefer, so I lenghthen the ruffle by 2 inches. I really love this blouse. And here is my second Poppy Blouse! I made this up quite quickly after I matched the pattern with the fabric. The bodice has been lengthened by 2cm (as it short on the back), as well as the sleeves (this just made it less frustrating to wear as I found it would shift up to elbow length during the way). The fabric is a Viscose that I got ages ago but can't remember where from. It's got a lovely subtle texture to it but I think a loose weave as I can see some stitches though it at the seams. Poppy 🪄 I was given early access to @guthrieghani’s March Sewing Society kit as an ambassador - and this is the finished result! This month you have three colour options of this exclusive to G&G Chicacheetah viscose poplin which has been paired with the @patternscout Poppy blouse. I got the teal colourway and even though it’s a brave brave choice for this gal, once I finished and dug my shorts out of their winter storage and the sun came out, I got well into it! I made version B of the Poppy in a 12 C cup - which is perfect. I’m going to adjust more garments with a B and D option to a C because that’s exactly right for me. I removed 3cm before hemming a 2cm hem instead of the narrow hem, and although there was elastic in the kit - which initially I thought was for the collar but is a hack option - I stuck with the bound sleeves, but shortened the binding by 2cm each to make the fit better. The collar was a bit tricky, lots of gathering and binding but don’t let that put you off, the finished result is nice! And if you really don’t fancy it, check out the collarless version on the kit page. The fabric is beautiful quality and was a dream to sew with, I love viscose anyway but some is so thin you can’t achieve anything with it - unlike this beauty🪡🧵 Kits are such a treat, even better when it’s a surprise! Here’s my entry into Sew April Blouse! It’s a Pattern Scout Poppy Blouse in a gorgeous ivory burnout fabric. The blouse is so pretty and feminine. I love the neck ruffle! The sleeves are flowy and breezy without being cumbersome. If my husband and I ever get to squeeze in a date night, I’ll be wearing this blouse! Styled with Pietra shorts in a very happy persimmon color! I sewed up the blouse without any mods in a size 8. Back with my annual post! 😅 (Only joking) My sewjo has been in hyperdrive as of late, and I’ve accumulated so much pretty fabric that I want to showcase.💕 This one is a cotton seersucker lawn from @lyricalfabrics sewn into the #pspoppyblouse by @patternscout . I made the 14 in the C-cup size range, and next time I’ll do the 12 as there’s plenty of ease. Only mod was to shorten sleeves three inches. Feeling nice and cool 😎 in this! Let’s talk a little about Pattern Scout shall we? Casey has wonderful patterns that are well drafted, true to size, well written and thought out. Her instructions alone are worth purchasing her patterns. This is the Ava Dress which I also got the honor of testing for her. It comes in 2 lengths and this is the maxi length (obvs). This was my very wearable toile and I didn’t have to make any corrections (like lowering the bust dart thank you). This is for wovens but I’m sure it would work well for stable knits. Also, if you are tall she drafts for 5’9” so I didn’t have to make any adjustments for height. Woot! Poppy Blouse From Pattern Scout in a cozy double gauze from Cloth Castle. I didn’t use the full width of flounce pattern piece as it would have been too much flounce with the double gauze fabric. I think I will sew this up in something much lighter with more drape to really take advantage of the pattern style. I also will lengthen the bodice .5 inch. AD / GIFTED The lovely team at @guthrieghani asked if would like early access to the March sewing society kit and I couldn’t say yes fast enough! I love the sewing society kits, you get everything you need to make the project, and this one is the Poppy Blouse by @patternscout in G&Gs exclusive chicacheetah print in a vibrant blue colourway. 🩵The viscose handles beautifully and is lovely to work with. I chose to make the version without the peplum, and I used elastic to finish the arms rather than the bound edge of the original pattern. I shortened the sleeves by 2.5 inches but made no other adjustments. I’ve been wearing this gorgeous blouse with jeans and I’m waiting for warmer weather as it will fabulous with shorts too. Just finished my first kit from @guthrieghani . I bought the #pspoppyblouse kit @thestitchfestival . The pattern is accurately sized and the @patternscout written instructions are good BUT the YouTube link from Lauren @guthrieghani is amazing and I kept referring back to it . The collar is a bit floppy, so as Lauren suggested I will cut it down by 1cm on the next version. Think I will buy the Nicks dress kit next!! #notenoughsewingtime #kits #summerfabric

Poppy Blouse 🖤🎄 It was a special Christmas this year. In the fall, my inlaws moved halfway across the country to be close to my family, and this was the first time I've gotten to host family for Christmas in my home. I wanted to make handmade pieces for the kids and I to wear for the special occasion with the colour scheme of black and teal. I sewed myself a Poppy Blouse because 1) I would wear this again and 2) I already owned and had sewn it before.
