I'm hopping on the pink bandwagon and not looking back! 💖 When I saw Pattern Scout's latest release I knew this hot pink linen, that's been patiently waiting in my stash, was the perfect match. This dress was so fun and quick to make. I tackled it all in one Friday night sewing session if memory serves me correctly. I will definitely be making the tank version and will try to hack it a bit to just follow the pin tucks straight down and omit the peplum. Lots of ideas to switch up the straps as well. I really love this pattern and it was a great palette cleanser after a couple of meh projects I worked it. And yes, I will be wearing this to see the Barbie movie (hopefully this week!). Here she is…my first Sew & Dye project! 🤩 It’s the new #psFloraDress pattern (@patternscout ) made from a linen duvet cover (is there a Bedsheet Chic sewing challenge yet? Should we start one?) and I’m extremely tickled with the end result. Swipe for before & after ➡️. I had been wanting to do something like this for awhile, sewing a garment that I knew I was going to dye in a thread colour that would hopefully match the final colour. When I saw @obsesssew ‘s success with exactly this process, it gave me the push I needed to finally try it myself (thank you, Ersan! ☺️). This pattern is so lovely and versatile and definitely got my creative juices flowing (even outside of the dye bath 😏). In my latest video, I go over the little changes I made to the construction and several embellishment ideas I had while making this, including but certainly not limited to the simple decorative pick stitch I did on the front, back, and bow detail (from my previous post). Trying to get some full length photos of my #psflora dress but was struggling with the tripod and timer on my camera! Just wanted to share where the length of the dress stops and that there’s a slit in the skirt on both sides. It was interesting constructing the slits with the French seams. I finally got my head around it by the time I got to the second one and then had to go back to re-do the first one. Then I saw an email today that @patternscout is doing a tutorial 🙄(I’m too impatient!).
