Vivi Blouse + Dress
Vivi is a notched collar blouse and dress pattern with a button front closure and options for sleeves or sleeveless. The pattern comes in three lengths: blouse (hip), mini (above-the-knee), and midi (at ankles). The midi length dress features side seam slits for ease of movement. It’s launch day for the Vivi Blouse and Dress by @patternscout ! 🎉 I thoroughly enjoyed testing this pattern, as this will absolutely be a summer staple. This comes in long sleeve and sleeveless versions, with blouse, mini, knee-length, and midi/maxi length options to mix and match. And the finishings 🤩! I’ll share more about them next week, but suffice to say it looks pretty great inside out! I made a couple changes to mine, namely adding side seam pockets and doing one centre back slit instead of two side slits. I also added a few more (coconut shell) buttons down the front than was called for, but I really liked how they looked. Fabric is the rest of a huge linen duvet cover that was a terrible colour on me, but I dyed it (2nd pic) using by @jacquardproducts #iDye in Olive and couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! The pattern is 15% off (no code needed) until April 15th on Casey’s website. . #So50dresses #SewOver50april #SewOver50 #SewistsOfInstagram #HandmadeWardrobe #iMakeMyOwnClothes #MeMade #PatternTester #PatternTesting #NewSewingPattern #psViviBlouseAndDress #psVivi #psViviDress #PatternScoutPatterns

#toilesandtribulations installment #312.. This time I made the #psviviblouseanddress from @patternscout. I unfortunately picked a size too small so can't wear it but have sent it to a dear friend to try🤞The pattern was easy to follow and I liked trying a new technique of sewing the interfacing first as it made for a neat result. Cutting the pieces took me a while as it's quite economical and you do it on a single layer. I love the end result, and have high hopes when I redo it with black linen with a size up. It has a great shape and I love how the skirt has no gathers and just fits so well. The blue and brown check cotton fabric from @drapersfabrics I used was so soft and lovely; such a shame I picked the wrong size!

I am completely inspired by Casey the owner and designer behind Pattern Scout Patterns. Casey is incredibly talented. She has been in my thoughts a lot as she is now facing breast cancer. This is the Vivi blouse #psviviblouseanddress the newest pattern from @patternscout . I just loved the bell cuff and wanted to use the border from a anglaise fabric I had to showcase it! I made the Pattern scout birch vest #psbirchvest from a brocade I purchase from @sewmesunshine.uk to add a little vintage vibe. It is a great pattern. Casey we are wishing you a healthy recovery! #sewaprilblouse24 @theyorkshiresewgirl @cloth_edit

This is the @patternscout Vivi “mini” dress in navy linen from my stash. I love that the pattern comes with cup size options so no FBA required. I also love the fit at the armhole. I added to the skirt length, as I didn’t want a mini-length. I just my stand bodice adjustments and I am very happy with the result. I followed the YouTube tutorial, which is slightly different than the written instructions. I see a long version and blouse in my future. #psviviblouseanddress #sewingover50 #sewinglinen #patternscoutpatterns #shirtdress

A couple of weeks ago, we had a baby shower for my little sister who is expecting her first baby in September 💕 it was a beautiful day and I'm so excited to be an auntie 🥰 I made a new dress 💁🏼♀️ this is the Vivi Dress by @patternscout and I absolutely love it 🫶🏻 it feels a dream to wear, and I think I look pretty darn good in it 😍 The fabric is a beautiful broderie anglais with this multicoloured leaf motif, purchased from @lamazifabrics years ago, waiting patiently in my stash for the perfect project. I'm so happy to finally use it, and this is what it became 🙌🏻 For reference I made the size 14 based on my bust measurement and it fits perfectly. The pattern itself is excellent with lots of techniques that are well explained. Highly recommend if you're after a shirt dress 👌🏻

My second go of the #psviviblouseanddress from @patternscout, this time in the right size! Really enjoyed working with this black linen from @wearethefabricstore as it just feels so smooth and slinky. I normally go for a colour but I'm glad to have a dress that I can wear colourful knitwear with in the winter. The pattern is great, love the details of the French seams and the sewn in interfacing (and not having to do gathers!) I would definitely make this again and will be keen to try another Pattern Scout pattern.

everything I sewed in 2024 in order! ✨ most of these are on the grid already but will tag patterns by slide and add some mini notes anyways. It’s fun seeing the projects get a little more complicated as the year goes on. excited for next year!! i have so many projects planned already 1. #lanepants - fav pattern ever. so easy and comfy 2. #helenejeans - my first hard pants and I hated the fit. the crotch looked pretty crazy on my body. great instructions though! 3. #finchshirt - I never took a great pic of this but including it anyways! great staple unisex collared shirt pattern. 4. #jillwrapskirt - cute but not very wearable for me. I need to redo the binding and add some velcro or weights or something to keep from flashing people 5. #mmsanda - love love love this pattern. my seam finishes look pretty wacky because I was learning my serger so I might sew in a lining some time 6. #psvividress - no commentary! it’s pretty and fits like a glove. i haven’t really figured out how to style it in a ~naina~ way yet but I still like it. 7. #adamspant - another banger but my topstitching was a problem! they’re a little messy up close 8. #vikisews_alexia - loved the fabric and idea but didn’t love the execution. it’s too big and i just didn’t do a great job on it. but learned a lot of stuff! 9. another pair of lane pants. 10/10 no notes 10. #gilberttop - good staple, have plans to make more!! next iteration needs some fit adjustments 11. #brierpant - hard pant success. the fit. the fabric. so good. the topstitching is still a little sketchy but better than the first few lol 12. #thesparkletop - wearable toile! I think I made this in one sitting? it’s a little small but was a super satisfying make! 13. also used the sparkle top pattern but made the dress! fav make of the year for sure

My *official* sewing goal for summer is to make more DRESSES! But more specifically woven dresses. And I’d like for you to join me! So consider this my unofficial invitation to a little summer sewing challenge that I have brewing! More official details to come later. And if any shop owners want to partner in this, please let me know! I have it all 99% together, so it would be easy to jump in and collaborate with me! ❤️ Okay, now let me tell you about my *new* dress! This is the @patternscout #psViviDress that released a little while back sewn with @robertkaufman Hemptex Chambray in the color ‘Natural’ which is a beautiful marled beige! The facing/interfacing construction advised in this pattern was new to me, but it produced a BEAUTIFUL interior and made edgestitching a breeze. I am going to carry over this technique to other patterns and designs going forward. The fit is also spot on. I took a total gamble and cut into the good fabric right away. Time is limited and if we aren’t risking it all, what’s there to be gained? This approach did not fail me and I ended up with a dress that fits me perfectly. I’m quite sure that this is my favorite handmade dress to date. In part that’s due to the amount of time I put into making this, and the slight challenges I faced when it came to sewing those buttonholes by the waist seam 😅 But also because it’s something I could NEVER buy in RTW. Having such a drastic size difference in waist to hip means that if the chest area fits, the hip area is to small and if the hip area fits, I’m enveloped in fabric at the chest. And thirdly, I attribute a big part of my love of this dress to fabric choice. I couldn’t have picked a better fabric to make this out of! It was very easy to work with which made the experience all around good and the fabric hangs beautifully in this design. I have many more dresses I’d like to make this summer but realistically only have time to make just a few. What will they be? Any recommendations for me? #surgefabricshop #surgefabrics #sunsoutsundresseson #isewmyownclothes #imakemyownclothes #sewingismytherapy #sewistsofinstagram #sustainablesewing #memade #sewsewsew #millenialsewing #slowsewing

Pattern test! This is the new @patternscout Vivi dress in the sleeveless maxi length option; Casey has made yet another buttondown garment pattern that doesn't gape open immediately, woohoo! Overall I'm super happy with it, and glad I went straight for nice fabric for a wearable test garment. :) I used a blue Brussels Washer from @sewtospeak, and also snagged some green twill for a short version with sleeves to come. There's also a blouse view included in the pattern. Special shoutout to the collar and lapels rolling into place nicely with zero fight (it's the little things). #psvividress #patternscoutpatterns
