I wanted to make #CamasBlouse from @threadtheorydesigns for a long time and made it with Rico cotton fabric gifted by @minervadotcom. Pattern is designed for knits. I found a post on Thread theory blog that explains changes to be made for wovens. I dint size up and made my usual size 12 for bust and 14 for waist and hips, then just used 3/8” seam allowance at sleeves. Happy sixth day of #memademay! I made it a whole 10 minutes before I spilled coffee down the front of my cardigan 😩, but even better I brought the wrong laptop to work. I've been waiting years for that one to happen since my personal laptop looks identical to my work one. My ric rac extravaganza blouse is almost finished, - just waiting for the fray check to dry on the buttonholes. . . Do I like it? I'm not sure I do. This was in my wip pile for the longest time because I couldn't get the dang neckband/placket to not look like a mess. I might have sewed it on backwards at one point 🤫. I got a little too happy with the seam ripper, so there's the tiniest hole that I know only I notice. I'm so happy I finished it and finally got to wear it! Continuation of my closet edit I’ve suspected that I favour knit tops more than woven, and the data speaks for itself: 28 knit tops vs 15 woven tops. Here are some more stats: Me-sewn: 11 Me-knitted: 3 RTW: 14 In no particular order, here are some of my memorable sewing/knitting journeys. 1. #tillyandthebuttons #tillycoco in black and white stripes was one of my first makes. At the time, I thought the pattern is to be followed exactly and didn’t know anything about pattern alterations, so the boatneck is slightly too wide, but I still love the top and every time I wear it, it reminds me of my sewing journey. 2. #deeranddoepatterns #ddplantain in short sleeves, in 3/4 sleeves, and long sleeves. Definitely love this free pattern enough to make three versions. 3. #todaysfit tops were my foray into pattern alterations. The funny thing with perfect fit is that our bodies change over time, so they fit slightly differently now, but still can get away with it because knit fabric stretch well. 4. #tessutipatterns #mandyboattee in navy and white stripes. This free pattern is a cult classic and I jumped on the band wagon. 5. On the opposite spectrum, #threadtheory #camasblouse is imo one of the hidden gems in the sewing world. This is absolutely one of my most versatile tops for work and for casual days. While I didn't finish all my #makenine2021 projects, I am overall happy with what I did accomplish! Work and school became an overwhelming force for almost all the the spring and summer so I didn't get many of my summer projects made. Maybe this summer after graduation I'll get to the remainder of these. 🤞 I totally failed at not adding more projects to my list...oh well what can I say...so many ideas not enough time. 🙃 I did manage to complete 32 projects, quite a few I still need to post. 💙💙Even though I'm not quite done with my coat, I'm the most proud of it. #makenine2021 2012 was a tough year: we have moved with a toddler and I had a mayor exam, to finish my master in Psychotherapy. I didn't have much time to sew, so my my FO list is not too long. To compensate the lack of sewing time I did a lot of fabric shopping. 🙀 So my unrealistic #newyearsresolution is to sew up my stash and not to buy new fabric. This year I have completed 2 #rosariskirts (my fave make of this year) a black #camasblouse and a #kendrickoveralls jeans which needs to be adjusted as it has turned out huge. Another comfy outfit for working from home on a very windy and rainy day. Top is a #camasblouse by @threadtheorydesigns - I'm nowhere within the size range but I figured it looked like it had quite a bit of ease and is meant for jersey (I used stretch denim for the button band and shoulder and back home) and as you can see it still fits over my gigantic bump. Today I'm wearing my ric rac shirt for the first time... And I like it more than I thought. Thank you for all your as I e - as some of you suggested it's best paired with jeans. . . It's actually a bit big and I don't think I got the collar quite right as that was my addition. I should have used a softer cotton, but I went with some scraps I had. I'll give it a few wears to see if it's a keeper, I alter it or if I give it away. Jour 5 du #memademay2021. (English below). Un top en fin de parcours: cousu en 2016, je l’ai énormément porté. Il s’agit de la #camasblouse de chez #threadtheory, en jersey coton + bambou et en #libertyoflondon pour les épaules. Ce top est hyper agréable à porter puisqu’il est en maille extensible. Il est aussi très facile à assortir et n’a pas vraiment l’air d’un t-shirt non plus, donc je peux le porter dans plein de contextes différents. Comme il est moins beau que ce qu’il a déjà été, je le mets maintenant dans des occasions moins formelles. Mais je suis quasiment certaine de me le coudre de nouveau une fois que celui-ci aura fini sa vie utile. 🇬🇧 This is the #camasblouse from #threadtheory, sewn in 2016 in bamboo and cotton jersey. When your pattern weights match your shirt 🙌🏼

Continuing my post-sergery recovery wardrobe quest with four and a half weeks to go before the big day. There are two requirements to the garments: comfort and buttoned front. I think I nailed it with this one. Pattern: Camas Blouse by @threadtheorydesigns Size: 12 at the shoulders graded to 10 at waist and 8 at hips Fabric: cotton French Terry @cmtextiles (they have a great sale right now) Modification: raised the neckline by 1 inch (next time will raise even more) and lengthened the sleeves. I treated myself to a big set of Prym pliers with all kind of fasteners for Christmas so I used jersey snaps instead of buttons. I wanted to make a top inspired by the ones White Stuff sells (see last pic) but could I find a pattern? Nope… this is the closest I could get, which is the @threadtheorydesigns #camasblouse. Am still looking for a collared version if anyone knows of one? Fabric is from @dalston.mill.fabrics . Pattern was relatively easy to follow but using a plain fabric means you have to be super careful (which I am not!) This shirt was an exercise in patience! I made adjustments to the back and arm pieces, but forgot to adjust the front shoulder yoke piece. I only had a small remnant of the navy fabric, which I'd planned to use for the yokes, bands, and sleeves. I sacrificed the sleeves to recut the front yokes, but forgot to adjust the pattern pieces - again! Thankfully there was enough left to cut the adjusted yoke pieces and put this shirt together. I might add buttons in the future, but snaps will do for now. #makenine2021 2012 was a tough year: we have moved with a toddler and I had a mayor exam, to finish my master in Psychotherapy. I didn't have much time to sew, so my my FO list is not too long. To compensate the lack of sewing time I did a lot of fabric shopping. 🙀 So my unrealistic #newyearsresolution is to sew up my stash and not to buy new fabric. This year I have completed 2 #rosariskirts (my fave make of this year) a black #camasblouse and a #kendrickoveralls jeans which needs to be adjusted as it has turned out huge. I have never finished my brown #sewingbettine as the color didn't suit me and I have lost the motivation. I have cut a green #oliviawrapdress to finish after the holidays.

While I didn't finish all my #makenine2021 projects, I am overall happy with what I did accomplish! Work and school became an overwhelming force for almost all the the spring and summer so I didn't get many of my summer projects made. Maybe this summer after graduation I'll get to the remainder of these. 🤞 I totally failed at not adding more projects to my list...oh well what can I say...so many ideas not enough time. 🙃 I did manage to complete 32 projects, quite a few I still need to post. 💙💙Even though I'm not quite done with my coat, I'm the most proud of it. Continuation of my closet edit I’ve suspected that I favour knit tops more than woven, and the data speaks for itself: 28 knit tops vs 15 woven tops. Here are some more stats: Me-sewn: 11 Me-knitted: 3 RTW: 14 In no particular order, here are some of my memorable sewing/knitting journeys. 1. #tillyandthebuttons #tillycoco in black and white stripes was one of my first makes. At the time, I thought the pattern is to be followed exactly and didn’t know anything about pattern alterations, so the boatneck is slightly too wide, but I still love the top and every time I wear it, it reminds me of my sewing journey. 2. #deeranddoepatterns #ddplantain in short sleeves, in 3/4 sleeves, and long sleeves. Definitely love this free pattern enough to make three versions. 3. #todaysfit tops were my foray into pattern alterations. The funny thing with perfect fit is that our bodies change over time, so they fit slightly differently now, but still can get away with it because knit fabric stretch well. 4. #tessutipatterns #mandyboattee in navy and white stripes. This free pattern is a cult classic and I jumped on the band wagon. 5. On the opposite spectrum, #threadtheory #camasblouse is imo one of the hidden gems in the sewing world. This is absolutely one of my most versatile tops for work and for casual days. Another comfy outfit for working from home on a very windy and rainy day. Top is a #camasblouse by @threadtheorydesigns - I'm nowhere within the size range but I figured it looked like it had quite a bit of ease and is meant for jersey (I used stretch denim for the button band and shoulder and back home) and as you can see it still fits over my gigantic bump. Cardi is the #blackwoodcardigan by @helens__closet in the original sizing, where I'm also outside size range but I think it works. Jour 5 du #memademay2021. (English below). Un top en fin de parcours: cousu en 2016, je l’ai énormément porté. Il s’agit de la #camasblouse de chez #threadtheory, en jersey coton + bambou et en #libertyoflondon pour les épaules. Ce top est hyper agréable à porter puisqu’il est en maille extensible. Il est aussi très facile à assortir et n’a pas vraiment l’air d’un t-shirt non plus, donc je peux le porter dans plein de contextes différents. Comme il est moins beau que ce qu’il a déjà été, je le mets maintenant dans des occasions moins formelles. Mais je suis quasiment certaine de me le coudre de nouveau une fois que celui-ci aura fini sa vie utile. 🇬🇧 This is the #camasblouse from #threadtheory, sewn in 2016 in bamboo and cotton jersey. I wear it a lot, because it’s an easy to wear blouse. I like wearing it with black trousers or jeans. I will surely sew this pattern again when this blouse isn’t wearable anymore.

This was WAY harder than I thought it would be. #camasblouse - a lovely shape and pattern from @threadtheorydesigns (whose fairfield shirt pattern is amazing). Smarter than a t-shirt but still #secretpyjamas. If you try it be careful to interface properly and line up the neck band. Unpicking jersey isn't fun. Glad i gave the piping a go though. And tickled to have used these ancient buttons from the button box. Day 18 #MeMadeMay2021 I love the drape on the back of this Camas Blouse. I made this months ago to practise sewing buttons, then realised that the jersey blend would be better with snap closures. I still need to practise sewing buttons. The pattern is the Camas Blouse from Thread Theory Designs Inc. I wanted to make #CamasBlouse from @threadtheorydesigns for a long time and made it with Rico cotton fabric gifted by @minervadotcom. Pattern is designed for knits. I found a post on Thread theory blog that explains changes to be made for wovens. I dint size up and made my usual size 12 for bust and 14 for waist and hips, then just used 3/8” seam allowance at sleeves.
