Last month I had the pleasure of testing the @ThreadTheory Bamberton Shorts pattern. This pair was made in men's sizing for my husband. The Bamberton also comes in women's sizing, with inclusive sizing for both. . The main feature is the drawstring waist but there are loads of options for personanization - welt pockets, flap pockets, contrast bands &/or waistband. I used linen for this pair and cotton for the interior pockets. You can also make these more sporty by using athletic fabric. Definitely suitable for swim trunks. . Our cat is suggesting that I make him another pair for her to gift him on Father's Day. There has been a lot of improvement in terms of size inclusion on women’s Patterns, but it’s still very much lacking on men’s patterns, which is why I was happy to test the @threadtheorydesigns #bambertonshorts (up to 71” hip 🙌 for men’s version, 69” for women’s). The pattern is unique in that it has WAY more sizes than standard; in doing so there are smaller gaps in measurements, which can be an issue with many larger sizes. That said, it does mean you will more than likely have to blend between sizes. Steve measured into an O waist and K hip, but since I wanted to make sure he had plenty of thigh room, I went with a straight O. I had already topstitched when I realized my blunder. Definitely select based on hip and adjust waist if needed!) I added 1” rise to the front and 2” to the back. I do think he could benefit from a low seat adjustment too (which is pretty standard). When testing the #bambertonshorts many of our testers commented that they enjoyed our unusual waistband construction method. We have you add the elastic and complete the waistband unit entirely before adding it to the shorts. If you like you can baste it onto the shorts so it's easy to remove and adjust after fitting.

Our new pattern has so many opportunities to play with contrasting colors or prints. @luizalibardi added black side panels, waistband and drawstring here to pair with the raspberry-red main fabric. What colors would you chose? #bambertonshorts
