I absolutely love the classic timelessness of the beautiful #1930sbutterflyblouse from @decades_of_style​​​​​​​​​This vintage blouse pattern from the 1930s is SO PRETTY, it will appeal to even the most devoted tailored suit person. Swipe to see the pattern illustration. It is a wrap blouse with a saddle yoke at the shoulder and flowing, elbow-length sleeves. There is shirring at the shoulders in the front and ties that wrap around the back and meet at the front waist. You will want a medium to lightweight fabric with a nice drape. Silk, voile, rayon, gauze and chiffon are all great. It looks as great with a skirt as it does with jeans. After a bit of a sewing break, I am starting on the 1930s Butterfly Blouse from @decades_of_style . I am using a lovely chevron print stretch velvet from @myfabricscouk . The pattern is for wovens but I'm risking it. It's my first time using this pattern, my first time using a woven pattern with a stretch fabric, my first time sewing velvet ...... and it needs to be done by Tuesday night for the start of party season! Not great pics but finished the #1930sbutterflyblouse from @decades_of_style . I used a stretch velvet so sized down. I also decided not to do the shirring on the front because i thought the fabric pattern had enough going on. Because i took this fabric out of the front pieces, the boob coverage is a bit lower than the pattern would normally be and I need a cami. I forgot that thw hems on velvet need to be hand sewn, that is a work in progress but i can wear it as is for my first seasonal night out on Thursday. Its a great pattern, comes together easily and instructions are great. First, Thank you all so much for the wonderful response to my swimsuit post earlier this week. Second, I meant to post this outfit yesterday but was busy getting my child off to school, helping my parents move appliances, and speed sewing a baby gift. This was my attempt at #sewhappycolor yesterday. Although it’s hard to tell in this photo, there are bits of orange in the flowers on my top. This winter I’ve been having fun layering my grey @truebias #nikkotop under my warm weather tops. As such, I decided I needed another one. This one made in bamboo french terry purchased from @pdxsewingstudio turned out to be a perfect match for my @annamariahorner rayon #1930sbutterflyblouse . While I love the way winter forces me to get creative with my wardrobe, I’m anxiously awaiting weather that allows me to throw on a simple summer dress without thinking.
